Is there something about years that end in 9? That's the question for Albion, who've now extended their unbeaten start to the league campaign to a full eight games, equalling their efforts under Roberto Di Matteo in 2009 and standing one short of equalling the nine-game run that opened proceedings under Brian Little in 1999. If Bilic's Baggies can keep this going until Tuesday night, then by my reckoning, it'll represent the longest unbeaten start to a season in the club's entire history.
The word being "if", of course. The four-day spell beginning with Saturday's early trip to Loftus Road is undoubtedly the sternest test of Albion's mettle so far, as we face a QPR side whose own four-game winning streak has put them right on our heels, and - if we survive that encounter unscathed - an even tougher showdown against table-topping Leeds at Elland Road, where we were so comprehensively humbled a mere six months ago. Come through this pair undefeated and not only will we have made a small slice of club history, but it will be a serious boost to our promotion credentials.
As someone commented on the Huddersfield thread last week, if we start turning up to first halfs than we could well walk this league. Here's our chance. Over to you, Slaven.

Well this is one tough league fixture for Hibs to take on at this stage of the season and an unwelcome one while positioned at the second bottom of the Scot Premiership. Celtic are "on fire" at the mo with a multi-talented, muti million pound quality team compared with any other footie clubs in Scotland who think they could consistently aspire to this level.
I'm just curious to see how Hecky starts this match and with what Hibs line up? Will it be another "backs to the wall" plan because we don't have the players to "hurt" Celtic!!? We shall see in due course.

wo footballers have been charged with drink-driving after a crash.
Derby County stars Tom Lawrence and Mason Bennett were arrested after the crash in the city's Allestree area on Tuesday night.
Police said a Range Rover Sport and a Mercedes GLC had collided.
Mr Bennett, 23, of Whaley Thorns near Mansfield, and Mr Lawrence, of Duffield, are due to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court on 15 October.
Derbyshire Constabulary said neither man had been seriously injured but 25-year-old Wales international Mr Lawrence had been taken to hospital as a precaution.
Derby County said it is aware of the incident but will not be commenting because of legal proceedings.
Derby County captain Richard Keogh has been ruled out until the end of the season due to a knee injury sustained in a crash that led to two of his team-mates being arrested.
Tom Lawrence and Mason Bennett have been charged with drink-driving following the accident in the city's Allestree area on Tuesday night.
Police said a Range Rover Sport and a Mercedes GLC had collided.
In a statement, Derby County said the crash followed a team-building dinner.
"A small group, including the team captain Richard Keogh, continued drinking into the night," the statement said.
"They should have known when to stop and also ignored the opportunity to be driven home using cars laid on by the club, and chose to stay out."

City arrivals during transfer window
Kalas and Massengo both for fees well over £7 million, Plamer, Nagy, DaSilva and Bentley for substantially more than a million, also picked up Rowe and Smodiczs for free.
As with Brentford a couple of weeks ago have financed these deals by selling a couple of players for big fees.
Probably the match of the day in the Championship 3rd v 4th, City have not lost in the league since the opening day of the season when coming second to Leeds however as always when it does go a bit tits up for Lee his team tends to go on lengthy runs without a win, be nice to start that on Saturday.
City have lost Afobe to a season ending injury but still have a useful goal scorer in Diedhiou, rate this lad scored on his last two appearences at the ground.
At present they have sold 500 tickets for the game,
For us Pearson, Bauer, Maguire and Hughes I would assume will be back after missing the cup game.
Match Officials: Bristol City Home
Making his first trip to Deepdale this season is a match official we have not seen for 12 months, with Andy Davies appointed as referee.
We last saw Andy in PR1 for the early season local derby with Bolton Wanderers last season; the game finishing 2-2.
That was the officials’ second-only time of taking charge at Deepdale and he’ll be making the long trip up from Hampshire for the game.
His first trip here was back in January 2018, when he was referee for a 1-1 draw with Birmingham City.
Whilst that was his first game as Deepdale, the match official has taken charge of North End games in the past, including the opening game of the 2016/17 at Reading.
This is his eighth year on the EFL lists, but only his sixth ever PNE game. He took charge of 2015/16’s goalless draw at Brighton & Hove Albion back in October 2015, having previously been the match official for a Lilywhites fixture back in 2012 at Leyton Orient.
This will be his eighth game of the new season, having issued 19 cautions and no red cards in the previous seven games, including one yellow in the other Bristol City game he has done this season, their thrilling 3-3 draw with QPR in the first round of the Carabao Cup.
He will be assisted by Darren Blunden and Michael George and the fourth official will be experienced official Andy Haines.
Mr Davies sent Pearson off for having his eyebrow bitten off by a Bolton player as you do.

So the Hoops "breezed" through this quarter-final tie with many players "rested" but still far too good for a Thistle team that have to "sort themselves out" under their new manager, Ian McCall. Also another record established by Celtic in cup ties - 29 consecutive cup tie victories and counting with 6 x cups collected in the "triple treble" and, no doubt, more to follow.

We play somebody Sheridan has told he can look for another club and one of our own youngsters who hasn't even featured so far in midfield and by all accounts looked more solid than we have all season.
Our manager leaves me speechless at times.
"Hi wedgie mate, er you know I told you I thought you were crap and could go? Well how do you fancy a pay rise?"

SMILIES/BALLS
Bonus Ball
Score Ball, Free to use Ball , play it on a game that you think both teams will score in !
Gamball,
New Scoring System
Incorrect Result = 0 point
Incorrect Result (Bonus Ball) = -3 * Changed from -2
Incorrect Result (Gamball) = -3
[/color]
Score Ball = 1 added Point if both teams score. !
Correct Result = +2 points
Correct Result (Bonus Ball) = +3
Correct Result (Gamball) = +5 * Changed from +4
Correct Score = + 4 points
Correct Score (Bonus Ball) = +6
Correct Score (Gamball) = +10 * Changed from +8
As you can see the incorrect scoring has not really changed apart from a wrong Bonus this will be now scored at -3 instead of -2 the reason for this are the gains on the new Gamball scoring you will make (see below) in the hope this encourages you to use it most if not all of the time.
So to the Gamball, the use of the Gamball was tactically not used in some cases last season as the gains we not considered to great compared to the losses, it's for this reason we have decided to change the scoring, The loss will stay the same at -3 but the reward will be a correct result will go up by one from 4 to 5 points and the correct score will go up by 2 from 8 to 10 points !!!
Just a reminder you DO NOT have to play the Gamball if you dont want too, the score will then be marked normal.
Again the third from bottom of the premiership will play off against the third in the table from the Championship to keep even more excitement going, they will have to predict through all the Playoffs and the winner obviously takes their place in the Premier League the following season
Beefy, Bomber, Zinman & SCO
If you do not predict,...........
If in your league everyone scores above zero you will receive Zero points,
However if in your league the person with the lowest score is below Zero (eg -4) you will score -5 and receive your first strike, Remember 3 strikes and you're out.
All scores must be in before MIDDAY SATURDAY,(For The Early Kick Off If Applicable) If the early kick off is missed the rest of your predictions must reach us by 2.45pm or none will be counted.

I've added this news piece re Gina Miller's latest role in taking on the British govt and winning again! It is well worth reading and I salute this woman, together with the SNP's Joanna Cherry, for enforcing the fundamental principles of the British constitution against the highly questionable motives of a fascist British govt with no respect for the rule of law. The other part of this story is her huge resolve to withstand the "forces of evil" that have festered so noticeably in England in the years that followed that ill-fated referendum of 2016. The continuous intimidation and threats are an absolute disgrace in any civilised country and it continues unabated until the present day with sadly Jo Cox, a Labour MP becoming an innocent victim of this whole poisonous culture that has infected the Brexit campaign and attracted the lunatics who will do anything to "make it happen" and attach themselves to the "poisonous narrative" that has consistently spilled out of many pro-Brexit MPs and supporters who "didnae get their way" even though it was a dodgy campaign from start to finish!!!!! All I can say is: GINA MILLER, I SALUTE YOU - a campaigner who will be well remembered in British political history for all the right reasons and yet you are not a politician!! BRAVO!!!
