Preston North End v Manchester City Deepdale 24/9/19

LAST TIME OUT
Birmingham City 0 Preston North End 1
[Image: download.jpg]
MANCHESTER CITY 8(EIGHT) WATFORD 0
[Image: download-1.jpg]

In the 50 plus years that I have been watching North End this is only if I am right the third competitive meetings between the sides at Deepdale although given the demolition City carried out on Watford on Saturday by 10pm tomorrow night the phrase competitive may not be required. Previous two visits ended 2-1 PNE with Macken tapping one in from 45 yards City later bought him and a 1 all draw.

CITY'S TRANSFERS IN
RODRI 63 MILLION
CANCELO 58 MILLION

Both of these slightly dwarf our record fee for Tom Bayliss.

Until the arrival of Pep, City had started to collect titles but the Spaniard now seems to be on the way to trying to win them all however he comes up against the best other bald manager in the league Alex Neil. Who when interviewed after Saturday's win did seem to have a wry smile when asked about the City score.

Always though City must have had an irrational hatred of us based on two players they sold to us, neil Young, we thought we were getting the man who scored in the Cup Final in 1969 instead we got this man,
[Image: download-3.jpg]

we also got Dave Connor who had the nickname of Boils given he missed a couple of matches due to the fact he had boils.

Given Pep will not want to lose tomorrow he will no doubt put out a side that will be strong and contain several youngsters, already said he is playing Garcia, no doubt Foden wil play might even see the Nmecha brothers but given ther schedule having played Shakatak in Ukraine last week were they beat the English Jazz funk band 3-0 then the walkover against Watford with them playing Everton on Saturday and another European game next week the main players will not be at Deepdale.
Lee Mason is the referee so we will get sod all then

Just let OGS get on with it???

Listening to Solskjaer after United's latest away debacle, 2-0 to West Ham U and I'm beginning to wonder if we just let him get on with it because they don't strike me to be heading in the right direction - all that money spent in the pre-season/early season transfer biz and injuries arise and they are not progressing at a rate that we could call positive. It is gonna take time to improve things effectively! Is OGS a good or a bad manager? Or is it a fact that managing and handling the probs of such a huge footie club is the issue?

  Celtic 3 Killie 1
Posted by: 0762 - 22-09-2019, 23:43 - Forum: Celtic - No Replies

The Hoops survived a "scare" after Killie took the lead with an Eamonn Brophy goal and Odsonne Edouard proving again what a quality striker he actually is - that's why Celtic paid out £7M for his services! Ryan Christie again one of the top performers and rewarded with a goal as well. Job done.

Surely its time now. Take Gerrard, your lad, McKay, Weir and Weston with you.
Completely lost the plot or suffering from advanced stages of Dementure. Reckons he played the same team as the one that won last week ??? Where were Maguire, Mandeville and Denton? Think he forgot to keep a copy of the team sheet that won and just took a flier.
He hasn't played the same team 2 games in a row.
How about Pemberton for a replacement if he would come back? Doing ok at Kidderminster with one of our youngsters starting regularly. At least he knows the names of our own young players.

World Cup Japan: Ireland 27 Scotland 3
Posted by: 0762 - 22-09-2019, 12:02 - Forum: Rugby Union - No Replies

In the 1st Group A match, as expected, Scotland well beaten by Ireland and it is fine being beaten by a better side but the nature of this defeat is debatable as Scotland just did not "show up" for this match and the Irish boys did not have to do too much to ensure such a comfortable victory. Too many handling errors by the Scot players - very unimpressive! There are still three group matches to contest but I think many Scotland fans must already be questioning Gregor Townsend's position as head coach because his team was well "found out" today. A case of COME BACK VERN COTTER - ALL IS FORGIVEN!! I also wonder if Scotland should just "chanced it" in fielding some non-Scottish players under the flimsy WRU regs that lotsa other rugby-playing countries have been "taking advantage of" for years - no different from the cricket "anomaly" re player status and nationality in a specific country! I notice Japan has conveniently signed up a good number of SA and Aussie players for their WC campaign.

They brought in ex-West Ham and otherwise popular Croat Slaven Bilic in the summer.  With the Baggies sniffin' around the top 6 what's the verdict from fellow Sports Babble posters so far? Do you like his way of playing, or hasn't he really worked one out yet?

We have of course brought in some bruvverly luv in the form of the Cowley brothers,
[Image: RBUPOVZ6UBGEVDEQXLUHDRSFKE.jpg]
who realise they've got a job on their hands with our lot.

That move however has just triggered a move to fill their boots at Sincil Bank for Michael Appleton.

As he was U23's boss, it's unlikely to upset the first team apple cart but any views from the Throstles Nest on that one too? He's only been back at The Baggies since August but it's a step up to a team that's been doing well under our Head Master and Head of Games teacher duo.

We still edge the Head2Head stats, helped by beating them twice when we last met, helping The Baggies through the trap door in our first season in the Prima Donna League, though it didn't take us long to follow them, given we only really tried against The Dingles last season.

In the Arrivals Hall this season along with young Mr. Bilic.

They of course spent £4 million on the chap that Dean Hoyle claimed would have no future value at his current age, when we didn't want to pay his transfer fee or his wages when we were in League 1 with Sarfamton.

In the Departure Lounge at Brum Airport
A certain Mr. Rondon departed for good for a few bob and free chopsticks to win fame and fortune in China. He helped pay for the lads that came in.

Well, no, it isn't £4 million wonder kid Tracey Austin, it's some young lad on loan from West 'aaaaam called Grady Diangana. Can't think how Mr. Bilic ever came across this young lad?

Ale, scram and other local fettle
There's some right bostin ales down here, with Holdens and Bathams amongst my personal favourites.

This corner of Muddled England is home to about 90% of the Pork Scratchings manufactured in the country (and possibly the world). They cost me a fortune in dental bills this past few years so I've given up on'em.

If yer want some reet belly bustin' scram after the game then get yer arses over to Mad O'Rourke's Pie Factory.  Treat thee sen to a reet good Desperate Dan Pie. Bring a bloody big appetite wi' thee, tha'll need it. Optional for meat (and fish) dodgers. Gluten free is available and Vegetarian Fish ‘N’ Chips. Read the menu to work out how that works.

It's on the way to Dingle Land but not close enough to make you complain about it.

How to get here
Well you've a fair choice of road works to pick from.

The never ending M6 roadworks now extend from Stoke to Wolverhampton, followed by never ending road works down the M5 to J2 and beyond. Coming t'other way up the M6 there's more never ending roadworks from near the M1 to Brum at J4. M1 sarfbarnd from Yorkshire weren't that bad t'other week but Northbarnd from that there Larndan they've still got big 'oles in t'road by Milton Keynes (I think).

In case I've missed owt important

Have a look in one of my usual sauces
https://www.footballgroundguide.com/leag...expand=all

Oh yeah, I did. Highest ground in England above sea level. Bring nose bleed kits and oxygen masks. It's all down hill on the way home though
Nowt new there then. Whistle

In Summary

We both need 3 points. If we could both get 'em I'm sure those L666s bar stewards would appeal the result.

WBA vs Huddersfield - Match Thread
Posted by: Ska'dForLife-WBA - 19-09-2019, 23:16 - Forum: West Bromwich Albion - Replies (55)

With Albion now the only unbeaten team in the Championship, the onus is on Bilic and the boys to really push on from here, turn draws into wins and fight for the place in the table that our stubbornness and resilience (if not our defensive strength or goalscoring prowess) merit. We have that chance at noon on Sunday with the visit of Huddersfield, who appear at some point in the last twelve months to have plunged through a portal to one of the inner circles of Hell (which, to be fair, is an occupational hazard of habitually negotiating the M62). New boss Danny Cowley and his brother Nicky have arrived at a club winless for eighteen games in all competitions, who've already lost six of their seven league matches this season, who sit one from bottom by virtue of goal difference alone, and have won just two games from their last thirty-six; both, rather hilariously, against Wolves. And it goes without saying that when your only joy in life comes from visiting Wolverhampton, something has gone desperately awry with your universe.

I can't pretend to have watched too much of the Terriers in this disastrous spell, so I'll welcome input from Town fans on what exactly has gone wrong over the last year, at the risk of being buried beneath the replies of "bloody everything, lad". It's all a far cry from Huddersfield's last outing at the Hawthorns, when they strolled to a fairly straightforward victory against an abject Albion, and I hope our esteemed visitors won't be too offended by the suggestion that on paper at least, the Baggies should be looking to reverse that result this time round. But naturally we're far from invincible, and all bad records come to an end sooner or later, so any complacency on our side could potentially get punished, as Wolves would undoubtedly attest.

Obviously I do hope that Town can dig their way out of the hole and gain some upward momentum: just leave it till next week, eh?
