  Michael Owen
Posted by: turkeydinner - 04-09-2019, 18:04 - Forum: Newcastle United - Replies (1)

I`m sure another Twitter storm has been picked up by everyone

Completely behind Michael Owen, NUFC are a massive, massive club whose fans on a passion level are top six if not higher unfortunately the clubs objectives are not

Would he really be the first player on big money and massive transfer fee to somewhat lose interest?

Yes terrible I know, many of us would run through walls for 100k+ a week and those meager few who become professionals should be damn lucky and thank the Gods every night

Owen was a superb talent but the 15M record signing was hardly flanked with similar record signings was he? I mean it was only this year they broke that 15m record? Hardly surrounded by the same quality as Real Madrid and sadly for the fans of NUFC he was bought more of as a shirt seller than part of a statement to march on the league or Europe. 120K a week, try signing Alexis Sanchez!

The Downgrade in Rafa> Bruce says it all about NUFC, I think many of the fans understand this, Benitez whether you love/hate wasn't going to stick around for a club with no ambition

And yes Beckham shouldnt have got sent off at the WC, I`m sure Pele and Maradona had bigger lumps kicked out of them but didn't react so foolish

So who's it going to be?

Any sightings at the train station, canalside or riverbank? Mourinho turned up with his Yorkshire interpreter?

If whoever it is is teetering we can always point them in the direction of Andy's Man Club for support. (A fine organisation by the way ... not making fun.)

  Romelu Lukaku
Posted by: WBA-Josh - 04-09-2019, 13:25 - Forum: West Bromwich Albion - Replies (14)

Romelu Lukaku, while playing for Inter Milan, was racially abused at the weekend by Cagliari fans. Lukaku becomes the fourth player in two years to be racially abused by the Cagliari fans.

Now the Curva Nord group of Inter Milan fans have written an open letter to Lukaku saying that the abuse was a sign of respect, not racism.

  Brexit or Chesterfield FC
Posted by: spireitematt - 04-09-2019, 00:32 - Forum: Chesterfield - Replies (29)

I really don't know what's worse at the moment Brexit or our current form.

As it stands it's P9 W0 D5 L4. We sit 3rd from bottom and currently staring at a 3rd relegation in 4 seasons. I've supported this club for 14-15 years (a lot less than some of you) I've seen 2 promotions, 4 relegations, seen many managers and players come and go in that time but I've never seen a side as worse as this one now, I think this side is worse than the team which got relegated from L2. After a game has kicked off (in the 1st or 2nd half) I expect us to concede because that's where we are normally conceding goals.

I said before the start of the season that I thought we would be near the top or near the playoffs but looking back now I was too overly optimistic and the warning signs were there to see during pre-season when we were struggling against teams in the Northern Premier League and below. I feel like my enthusiasm for this club is dwindling as each game goes along this season, I'm finding it very difficult to stay optimistic and look for the positives but I can't find any, even Alastair Campbell would find it impossible to spin this. Sooner or later I will reach a breaking point like Dev has done and like many fans are already doing. As it stands it looks like the fans are the only one's who care. Attendances are already starting to fall though as fans can't justify paying £18-£22 to watch the current performances. There were 3,844 fans there tonight and 3,363 were home fans which is the lowest turnout ever at the Proact by home fans for a league match.

It's difficult to get your head round that we were in touching distance of the Championship back in 2015 and now we look like we are in touching distance of regional football or even liquidation but don't worry we get told 'We've never had it so good'.

Unlike Dev I will still buy the Non-League paper as I like reading about other teams and there performances.

  Scotland v Russia

Well this is part of another "double header" for Scotland with Belgium to follow in another testy home match! I'd like a min of 3 pts but I suspect we could well lose both matches! Lets hope this does not happen!

  Prediction League Results/Tables Week 5
Posted by: bomberbrown1968 - 03-09-2019, 20:59 - Forum: West Bromwich Albion - Replies (13)

Pts CS CR GB BB SB
Themaclad 13 1 4 5 -3 1
Derby 12 1 2 10 -3 1
Zinman 10 2 4 -3 -3 0
AAA 6 0 4 NP -3 0
Beefy 5 1 2 NP -3 0
Bomber 5 1 3 -3 -3 1
BBB 4 0 3 -3 3 0
Sanjay 3 1 2 -3 -3 1
SCO -3 0 1 -3 -3 1

A poor week for the PL players this week, especially the playing of the balls!!! Leading the way, and definitely showing some of the form from his promotion last season is Themaclad with 13 points. He scored points on 5 games including a CR on the Gamball, a ball that made all the difference this week. In second spot is Derby with 12 points, prior to the two Sunday games he was on zero points but as the only player to get a spot on Gamball and a CR on the other game he propelled himself up the charts!!! In 3rd spot was our current leader Zinman with 10 points, a rare week saw him play the Gamball and promptly get it wrong as well as his BB keeping his score down over what it could be.

Bit of a drop to AAA in 4th place on 6 points, no CS and no extra points from any of his balls kept his score low although at least this week him not playing the Gamball didn’t cost him any points!!! Beefy and Bomber were tied for 5th on 5 points, Beefy didn’t play the Gamball and saved some points but Bomber got one more CR and his score ball to even that up. BBB is in 7th spot with 4 points, his claim to fame this week was being the only person to score any points on his Bonus Ball.

The last two places this week saw Sanjay in 8th on 3 points, our early leader has struggled for the past couple of weeks and this score will likely see him drop further down the table!! He did get a CS and 2 CR but missing on both the Gamball and Bonus cancelled out his gains!! In last place is SCO on -3, complete disaster of a week with just one CR on the WBA game and missing both the big balls will see him start to have to worry about a relegation battle if he cannot improve things quickly!!!!!

Cheers
SCO

No change at the top as Zinman actually managed to extend his lead there by outscoring last weeks nearest challengers, though a new threat emerged in the shape of Themaclad, who after a slow start, is now finding the form he showed as Championship title winner last season.

Bomber holds on to 3rd but does lose ground on the top 2 as did Sanjay dropping again this week down to 4th after being the pacesetter for the first few weeks.

BBB was another slider down to 5th, more by the scoring of the top 2 rather than his own failings and their are only 12 points from the top down to his position of 5th, and it's 11 points down to 6th as SCO had a mare of a week to only sit a couple of points above the relegation play off spot.

That's where we find AAA who's yet to hit the high scores this season, while Derby at least had Sunday to thank for a seasons best which did drag him off the bottom and plonk Beefy there again. all 3 are in need of a 20+ week to get them climbing the table.

Amelia total 16  2CS 6CR No balls
Stairs 11  2CS 4CR -3GB 3BB 1SB
Joker 8  1CS 4CR -3GB 3BB 0SB
Mighty 8  1CS 4CR DNPGB -3BB 1SB
BaggieOne 5  1CS 4CR -3GB -3BB 1SB
Snooty 3  1CS 3CR -3GB -3BB 1SB
Twerton 3  0CS 2CR -3GB 3BB 1SB
Lady J -5  0CS 0CR -3GB -3BB 1SB

A costly week for those Championship players who chose to play the gamball - not a single correct prediction on that match. Possibly a lucky escape for MightyBrom who decided not to play it (or forgot?).

Amelia's no ball tactics paid off this week and with a week's high of 6 correct predictions she has a clear lead in this week's table with 16 points. Stairs was one of 5 players to get 4 correct results and he takes second place as a result of a correct bonus and score ball.

A cluster of players close together in mid table with Joker and MightyBrom sharing 3rd place on 8 points and BaggieOne on 5. All of these players had 4 correct predictions including the Albion and Palace wins which provided most of this week's points. Snooty once again placed his trust - and his bonus ball - on his beloved Huddersfieldand once again they let him down. Just 3 points as his slow srart to the season continues. Not a good week for Twerton, just 2 correct predictions and a score ball giving him a lowly 3 points.

And then there was Lady Jane, her bright start to the season fading into a distant memory. Not a single correct prediction but she was saved from the lowest possible score by her solitary point from the score ball.

Zin

No change in the top 2 this week as Twerton and BaggieOne had similar weeks with the former going into the break 2 points clear at the top.

They both face a new challenger from the pack in the form of Amelia whise tactics are paying off nicely - who knows whether she'd be better or worse off not playing the bonus or score ball but 15 points have been saved off the dreaded Gamball, she sits just 10 points off the lead and 3 points clear of the high flying Joker who'll be recovering from nose bleeds in the rest week.

Lady Jane suffered with a calamitous week and dropped 2 places in the table down to 5th losing a fair amount of ground to those above her and allowing Mightybrom to close up in 6th.

The bottom 2 stay as they are with Stairs and Snooty occupying 7th and 8th respectively and looking to recharge their batteries over the international break.

Rangers still trying to buy players on instalments lol!!
Posted by: 0762 - 03-09-2019, 15:06 - Forum: Rangers - Replies (3)

Changed days from when Rangers were not "skint" eh or so it appeared!! Reading more info re this current £7M transfer deal with Liverpool FC to take Ryan Kent "off their hands", it transpires that they have got away with paying annual instalments covering 3 years!! It looks like Liverpool FC need a shrewd negotiator like Rod Petrie to tell Rangers to b##### off if they don't have the requisite money "up front"!! This is a footie club sitting on debts >£30M and "for the life of me" I can't figure how they have not been "pulled up" yet by the appropriate authority for highly questionable financial dealings when they are clearly "in the red" and racking up even more debt as it appears that Mr King is not involved in the payments either!! IMO LFC will be lucky to see £2M, let alone £7M, because logical economic calculations tell me that this footie club is in a "hi-risk" financial situation that could conclude in bankruptcy!! You'd think that these nitwits at Ibronx would learn something from the past financial misdemeanours of Sevco/GRFC!! Clearly not!!

  Souness Storm
Posted by: turkeydinner - 02-09-2019, 18:52 - Forum: Everton - No Replies

Rather a large Sxxt Storm happened on Twitter after Graeme Souness spoke about Moise Kean regarding why Everton both got him so cheap and no buy back clause

This was immediately greeted with things about outdated pundits, defamation of character and of course the word of the moment-Racism

It was dragged up Souness similar attitude towards Pogba and Adebayor both whom were black

I`m sure anyone who knows both Souness as a player or Manager knows similar to Roy Keane he was not on the same level as anyone who didn't believe running through walls like he did

Sadly I have seen Pogba walk through games as a Man Utd supporter and Adebayor for all his talent is lazy as, nothing to do with race or skin color

I do believe Souness made a valid point why Juventus the richest club in Serie A with an aging strike force chose to get rid of a young talent with a great scoring record at club and international level for less money than Slimani or Tosun?

And for the record I hope Kean succeeds, problem position for them for Donkey`s
