HTAFC Prediction League 2019/20 Matchday 6 - international break
Posted by: Lord Snooty - 01-09-2019, 20:00 - Forum: Huddersfield Town - Replies (15)

2 points for a correct result
4 points for a correct score
2 points for each correct scorer
Correct joker doubles your score   Laugh
Wrong joker result gives you minus 2
Correct Random Badger gives you 2 points Badger

The random badger Badger is used for any random prediction used once in each matchday sequence. For instance, a scorer at a particular match, the number of red cards in the matches or yellow cards or own goals or owt you want really within reason, I do need to be able to check whether it's correct or not. Please don't put stuff like....."Commentator says...."  Rolleyes
The joker  Laugh is played for one match in each sequence and if correct you get double points. So if you've predicted 1-0 and it finishes 2-0, you get 4 pts, but if you've predicted 2-0, that's 8 pts. But if you get it wrong, it's minus 2.
Jokers and badgers are optional. You don't have to play one if you don't want.

Cup games:
In the event of a draw, it's half the points if you've predicted a draw when it gets to 90 mins and the full points if it's still a draw after extra time. Half the points will be awarded for correctly predicting the winner of the match if it goes to penalties.

Random score generator: I will be using the random score generator again for those who miss predicting, so we shouldn't get some people too far behind that after missing a couple of weeks they lose all interest, because I know it's not easy getting on here every week.
To be fair to everybody, this is going to be like, say if three people in one week miss their predictions, the first one in the table will be given all 0-0, the second one down the line will get 1-0 and the third will get 0-1 and so on, like if there's four missing the 4th will get 1-1, then 5th 2-1, 6th 1-2. and if there are so many missing, might as well pack in. Wink
And if you miss two weeks on the trot, I'll stop until you come back on again. Not doing it for half a season like I did t'other year.  Rolleyes

  Another draw

Team selection was mind boggling - again. The only good thing was Coddington in goal. Weir and Gerrard again Angry At least we had Boden up front and not on the wing.

First half we did nothing, looked better than last Saturday but that didnt take much. Somebody went strolling through our defence and scored 0-1. Crowd were getting pretty vocal. Somebody in the D&R management must have stood on the pitch, licked a finger and stuck it in the air and discovered it was very windy and if they kept the ball on the ground it would be more successful than long balls for the wind to get hold of and go anywhere. We obviously didnt have anybody on our management that had fingers. Long ball after long ball going nowhere.
Second half we had no subs appear which was mind boggling but within 15 mins we had Weir and Yarney off for Mandeville and McGlashan. We upped the tempo and Fondop scored with a good header. We could have gone on to win it but to be honest we didnt deserve it.
Once again inept team selection and tactics cost us before we even kicked off.

If I were a betting man I would put my savings on JBW to score against us Tuesday.

No, not a flounce, but today was my last game after 45 years of regular attendance as I'm about to leave the country to do some missionary work* in California (tough life but someone has to do it). Glad to bow out with a win and looking forward to the 3 30 am kick offs in the next few weeks!

*Teaching them how to spell, speak, appreciate good beer and proper sport. Going to my spiritual Zin homeland, Napa Valley.

The former Barcelona player and Head Coach who was Spain’s Head Coach until his resigned in June has announced that his 9 year old daughter has died of cancer.

No one deserves to go through trauma like this.

We cant win a game so whats the best thing we can do? I know lets send one of our promising (was before JS) young forwards out on loan. Amantchi will be next but we will be ok with McKay on the bench Doh .

Europa League group draw - it's Cluj again!!!

Plus Lazio and Stade Rennais! This draw could've been worse but it is still IMO a tough draw and what a coincidence Celtic can gain quick revenge over Cluj and a manager, Dan Petrescu, who saw his "miracle" victory unfold at Celtic. This time I guarantee Lenny's tactics and team formations will be entirely different compared with the previous Champions League quali ties - harsh lessons have been learnt!! However, one must not lose sight of the other footie teams in this group, both of whom will not be easy "pushovers"!!

  The Lotus week 4 AVAGO!
Posted by: Devongone - 30-08-2019, 12:33 - Forum: Football related - Replies (9)

I'll keep this going if you like, but I can't waste my time thinking about Chesterfield any more.

Another genius week leaves the league standing at:-

St Charles Owl 12 points
Spirematt 11pts
Devongone 7pts
Lord Snooty 6pts
Themaclad 4pts

Nobody proved capable of finding a team who could win at home!

So if you want another go or would like to join in the impossible quest for 5047 points in a week, just reply to this making the following predictions:-

Prediction One - Name a team that will win AT HOME.
Prediction Two – Name a team that will win AWAY.
Prediction Three – Name a team to win AT HOME by TWO clear goals.
Prediction Four – Name a team that will be involved in a GOALLESS DRAW.
Prediction Five – Name a player who will score a goal.
Prediction Six – Name a team that wins by exactly THREE clear goals.
Prediction Seven – Name a team that concedes FOUR goals or more.

Rangers v Celtic - time to "lay down a marker" on Sunday?
Posted by: 0762 - 30-08-2019, 00:40 - Forum: Celtic - Replies (7)

So Celtic finally take on the Govan bigots at their home ground, a ground that has been a "fortress" for them under Stevie G but under a "cloud" of controversy re consecutive UEFA charges and punishments for offensive racist/sectarian behaviour. Watch that criminal behaviour unfold with impunity on Sunday afternoon but of course in Scotland our footie authorities, and other accountable groups like the Police and security, generally do nothing!! What a time for the Hoops to "lay down a marker" although I think Rangers are marginally the favourites because of their home advantage. Neil Lennon played Mikey Johnson tonight v AIK. So I don't believe he'll play him in this game mainly because of a past failure at the same ground in a previous league fixture - lessons learnt re past rare defeats against Rangers!! Even fielding Broony could be questioned because of observed poor performance esp v an anticipated hi press physical game plan in midfield. One significant factor I have checked on and noted is the fact that the SFA have assigned Bobby Madden to officiate this game - a known brother of the orange cloth!! Thumb down So the SFA stopped Beaton ever getting near this fixture but opted for brother Bobby lol!! Therefore Celtic really need to "show up" and play in the way that they can play "in spite of a ref" who will be "itching" to give Rangers an advantage at any moment!! Surely he cannae be as bad as Beaton in ignoring countless misdemeanours, yellow card and red card offences???? And the threat of a dubious pk is there for sure - past fixtures at this ground have exposed very dubious pk decisions and remember, there is no VAR!! Both teams are unbeaten and I expect this result to probably be a draw but it will definitely be a game full of incident. Whether it will be entertaining is anyone's guess!!

We really don't need this at this current testy time but, like many other Hibs fans, I'm becoming accustomed to "The Legend" spending more time on the treatment table than on the pitch!!
