  Leko &/or Willock
Posted by: Northwalesbaggie - 25-11-2019, 18:37 - Forum: West Bromwich Albion - Replies (4)

Fans are naturally worried that Wet Sham may recall Grady due to his performances for us. If he is recalled, IMHO we do have very good backup options. One is Jonathan Leko ( if we have a call back clause). He seems to be doing very well for Charlton. The other is Chris Willock ( who i see scored again in the PL2 League). Yes i would love to see Dwight Gayle back BUT i don't think it is going to happen. Your thoughts please my fellow baggies.

[b]LAST MATCH

So for the fourth game running we concede late and throw a point away. A pretty even first half was punctuated by the Baggies first goal, a thru ball to Kanu who finished past Westwood. We started the 2nd half well and were rewarded when Lee robbed there CB and was pulled down and Fletch put away the Pen. We continued to be the better team but missed several chances and were made to pay when Westwood conceded a late penalty and Austin finished clinically from the spot. 4 straight games and counting throwing points away late on in games, will the same happen against Brum?

THE MATCH

One of Monks former teams come to town, as Birmingham make the journey north. They are currently in the bottom half of the table but with everything being tight, a few wins and your suddenly near the playoffs. Brum are now managed by someone called Pep Clotet, who is the caretaker at the moment, ever since Monk was sacked. Like most teams they will be looking to make a playoff push unlike us who are just waiting for the points deduction from the EFL Doh

Saint Mirren v Hibs, Tues 27 Nov, KO 7.45pm
Posted by: 0762 - 25-11-2019, 13:38 - Forum: Hibernian - Replies (3)

Well this fixture couldn't come at a better time for Hibs and adds "a bit of spice" with Jack Ross returning to his old footie club before he headed south to Sunderland. I suspect he will try to field the same Hibs team that started on Saturday v the "steel men" although Darren Magregor finally "on the brink" of a return from injury and I must acknowledge I thnk Hibs defence still needs strengthened/tweaked. Here's hoping that the boys win this because 3 PTS will project them "into the fray" for that 4th or 3rd spot in the Scot Premiership. C'mon Hibs!

  Gerhard Struber
Posted by: themaclad - 25-11-2019, 12:00 - Forum: Barnsley - Replies (1)

Barnsley have named Wolfsberger AC boss Gerhard Struber as their new head coach on a two-and-a-half-year contract.

The 42-year-old guided the Austrian club to a third-place finish in his home country's top tier last term, qualifying for the Europa League.

The Tykes, who parted company with Daniel Stendel last month, are without a win since the opening weekend of the season and bottom of the Championship.

Adam Murray drew three and lost two of his matches in caretaker charge.

Wolfsberger AC are bottom of their Europa League group, three points behind leaders Istanbul Basaksehir, after drawing with Italian side Roma and winning 4-0 at Borussia Monchengladbach of Germany, along with two defeats.

'We can keep this club in the league'
Struber, who has also previously coached at Red Bull Salzburg, has agreed a deal until 2022, with an option for a further year.

He told Barnsley's website: "I am extremely happy and proud that everything has worked out and I would like to thank the board for giving me this opportunity.

"Now is a time for everyone to pull together, the board, the management team, the squad, the wider club staff and of course our passionate supporters.

"If we can do this together, we can keep this club in this league. I can't wait to start working for this club and town, and especially to meet you all at the game this weekend."

Alex Mowatt, Conor Chaplin, Jacob Brown and Andy Murray
Barnsley have conceded more goals than any other Championship side this season (33) and their goals tally (16) is the joint third lowest in the division
The Oakwell club, who were promoted from League One under Stendel last term, will face Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Saturday.

Chief executive Dane Murphy said: "Gerhard is a young coaching talent that any side would be pleased to have.

"The club had pursued him in the past as his tactical approach and track record of developing burgeoning talent appeals to the core philosophies at Barnsley FC.

"This was a long, arduous process that tested the patience of many working to better the club. In the end the labour has bore fruit and we are anticipating an enticing brand of football with Gerhard at the helm."

Former Queens Park Rangers defender Matt Rose, 44, has joined the Tykes as first-team coach replacing Chris Stern, who has left Oakwell.

Another of Stendel's former coaching assistants, Dale Tonge, remains at the club but Barnsley say "further changes are to be expected over the coming days" as Struber finalises his backroom team.

He may be joined by assistant coach/video analyst Maximilian Senft, who Wolfsberger say "will also leave the club for England".

The odd thing about the ground is give the colours of the team are yellow and black the majority of of the seats are in Black and White the colours of the rugby league club Hull FC who share the ground with them. Rugby obviously takes priority in this past of Yorkshire

LAST TIME OUT
MIDDLESBROUGH 2 HULL CITY 2
[Image: download-7.jpg]

City gave a Jekyll and Hide performance being inept as Boro raced into a two goal lead before being handed a lifeline when Johnson was sent off for Boro for trying to disembowel a Hull player, after that it was the Jarrod Bowen show only surprise was they didn't go onto win the game.

LAST SEASON
HULL CITY 1 PRESTON NORTH END 1
[Image: download-8.jpg]
A last minute Louis Moult goal gave us a probably undeserved point after if memory serves right Bowen scored from the spot. We were helped by a sniper taking out the keeper as shown in the picture.
The season before we won in the last minute when Robison bagged from a cross by Horgan who was described on on Hull forum as a ringer for the dwarf from the Game of Thrones.

TRANSFERS IN

Spent £400,000 on George Honeyman from Sunderland may have been fees paid for De Silva Lopes from Wigan the rest have been frees Magennis and Eaves amongst them.

Danger Man

Jarrod Bowen think he has scored every time he has played us, top player this lad.

Back on the road on Wednesday night to the East of Yorkshire to one time City of Culture Hull, it will be dark when we get there and it will be dark when we leave so either way it's a win win.
As for the match saw these lads play at Fulham were they obliterated the home side 3-0 as good as an away performance as you will see although watching them on the box yesterday against Boro they were the complete opposite until the sending off.
Already mentioned Bowen, they also have Grosicki another dangerous player on his day also rate Jackson Irvine in midfield, at the back they have two giant centre backs so hopefully we won't be lumping it long like we did on Saturday.
Suspect changes for us wouldn't be surprised if Davies out however Storey filled in admirably on Saturday.
The referee is John Moss so expect cards a plenty.

As I said it will be dark when we get there but this thing will be lit up
[Image: download-5.jpg]

They also have cream phone boxes and it's residents never receive yellow pages directories they are cream as well. As a matter of interest there is a yellow phone box in Whittle le Woods it now has one of those resucitation machines in it.

Scottish Cup 4th round draw - it's Dundee United!!
Posted by: 0762 - 25-11-2019, 01:56 - Forum: Hibernian - Replies (2)

A reasonable draw for Hibs but the "down side" is that the tie is at Tannadice! Therefore it will be a tricky cup tie but certainly one that Hibs have every chance of winning although I'd much prefer a home tie in every round!! The probable date of this encounter will be Sat 18 Jan 2020.
