THE MATCH
SATURDAY 30TH NOVEMBER 12:30PM KICK OFF
v ![[Image: c8f0e1f02feea03b72811b4b50c0f4c0--britis...nesday.jpg]](https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/c8/f0/e1/c8f0e1f02feea03b72811b4b50c0f4c0--british-football-sheffield-wednesday.jpg)
[b]LAST MATCH
Another game, more points dropped, can't score more than one and always concede poor goals. Four changes were made with Dawson, Odubajo, Luongo & Reach coming in. We had the better of the first half, Fletcher shot narrowly wide, Lee was denied by there keeper and Odubajo rattled the bar. Lees replaced Borner at halftime and Brum took the lead within 3 minutes when Giminez turned in a cross. We made two more changes and switched to 442, with Fessi on the left and Nuhiu up front. It paid off when Harris finished from 20 yards. Nuhiu had a shot saved and two efforts were cleared off the line in the dying minutes but it is now 5 without a win.
THE MATCH
Next up a trip down to The Valley as we take on Charlton. Just 1 win in our last 6 visits, and how we are playing at the moment that stat probably wont change. The Addicks are managed by former player Lee Bowyer who got them promoted from the pub league last year and started this season well but have dropped to the bottom half of the table recently. Not too many recognizable players in there squad, Darren Pratley and Lyle Taylor you may have heard of, and youngster Connor Gallagher has been getting some good reviews. One final thing, Charlton haven't won in 6 games, the last team we played who hadn't won in 6, were Blackburn, and predictably we lost in true Wednesday fashion

Long-timers out there may vaguely recall that this time ten years ago I posted a thread on BBC 606 inviting everyone to share their Albion team of the 2000s, giving everyone a chance to honour the Baggies who'd defined our yo-yo years. Well, with a month to go until the Roaring Twenties commence, it's time to give it another whirl. Everyone's welcome to submit, and there's only one rule:
Your team of the decade must consist of eleven players who have played at least one competitive match for West Bromwich Albion first team between the FA Cup tie at Huddersfield on 2nd January 2010 and the upcoming Championship fixture against Middlesbrough on 29th December 2019.
Beyond that, it's your choice alone. Formation? Up to you. The biggest talents or just your own personal favourites? Up to you. Take off-field shenanigans into account, or concentrate purely on the beautiful game? Up to you. If there are any nearly-men who didn't quite make the final cut and deserve an honourable mention, feel free to stick them on an unlimited subs bench. Provided there are enough responses, I may even try around New Year to see if we can build a consensus based on the names that crop up most.
And so without further ado, I give you my XI:
Foster
Dawson --- McAuley --- Evans --- Gibbs
Mulumbu
Barnes --- Morrison --- Brunt
Odemwingie --- Lukaku
Subs: Olsson, Reid, Scharner, Yacob, Gera, Long, Rodriguez
Foster - just the best keeper we had in decades, full stop
Dawson - tempted to pick Steven Reid, but fond of the way we nurtured him from lower league player to Prem regular
McAuley - one of the great football rags-to-riches stories, and proper servant to the club
Evans - shite captain, but on talent alone he was our best centre-half since the Seventies
Gibbs - hasn't fully had chance to flourish over a couple of tough years, but probably our best LB since Statham
Mulumbu - iconic player at his best, always fondly remembered, scored the winner against Villa in 2011
Brunt - a game-changing player on his day, and one of the last loyal club men
Morrison - as above
Barnes - a five-month loanee in our team of the decade seems daft, but without his impact, we might have gone straight into a downward spiral after relegation
Lukaku - another loanee, but what a loanee; we'll always be his breakthrough club, and to his dying day he'll never celebrate a goal against us
Odemwingie - Molineux, February 2012; and all the rest
Let's hear your thoughts and your picks!

Bristol City v Huddersfield Town
The Sky Bet Championship
Saturday November 30th 15:00 ko
at Ashton Gate
![[Image: bb0238bafd61042c88931b4baa0f59de.jpg]](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/bb/02/38/bb0238bafd61042c88931b4baa0f59de.jpg)
Huddersfield Town travel to play Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Saturday afternoon with high hopes of coming away with some points. Manager Danny Cowley will have at least one team change to make following the red card given to Trevoh Chalobah on Tuesday night. Hopefully Danny Simpson will be passed fit for this, thus allowing Juninho Bacuna to move back in to midfield. Or possibly a recall for Terence Kongolo at left back, meaning Lewis O'Brien can go take up his more usual midfield dynomo role. Whatever the manager does, it won't be predictable.
As for City, well they were well beaten on Wednesday night at West Brom and we have had an extra 24 hours rest and recuperation, so who knows?
Tickets: are available from the Town ticket office til noon on Friday at an extortionate £32. The match ia all ticket and there will be no pay on the day.
A brief history of Bristol City: Founded in 1894 and admitted to the Football League in 1901. They won the 2nd division title in 1906 and followed that with their highest ever league finish when they were runners up to Newcastle the season after. Then came their one and only FA Cup Final in 1909 when they lost 1-0 to Manchester Utd. But then in 1911 they were relegated and stayed out of the top flight for the next 65 years.
In those years they won promotion from division 3 four times, eventually getting back to division 1 in 1976 when they finished runners up to Sunderland, with Alan Dicks as manager. They had four seasons in the top flight but were relegated in 1980 and have never been back.
That relegation triggered a huge fall and two more relegations and bankruptcy meant that they dropped for the first time into division 4.
They spent two seasons at the bottom, but haven't been back there. They have spent the rest of their time in the 2nd and 3rd tiers, winning promotion back to the Championship when they won League One in 2015.
They have also been League Cup runners up twice (1971 and 1989), won the Anglo/Scottish Cup in 1978 and the Football League Trophy three times (86, 03 and 15).
Head to Head
![[Image: s-l225.jpg]](http://thumbs.ebaystatic.com/images/m/mJNR2waTeauWxtGKkzWPioA/s-l225.jpg)
Town lead in the overall head to head with 25 wins to City's 21, with 11 draws.
Ashton Gate hasn't been a happy hunting ground recently, losing 0-1 in the FA Cup last season and then two 0-4 defeats in the last two league visits. We did win in 2013, late in the season when they were on their way down to League One, beating them 3-1 with a James Vaughan hat trick.
I can't think of many memorable games down there, apart from my first visit in January 1982. The match itself was a dull 0-0 draw, but the snowball fight was immense. It took place on the open terraces throughout the match and on the way back to the coach park afterwards. We were ambushed on the way back by the home fans, with little chance of reply and I reckon they won that one.
The first meetings were way back in the 1911/12 season and didn't start well for us with City doing the double over us.
So what's new at Ashton Gate? Still managed by Lee Johnson, a little toss pot who once managed Barnsley.
Before that though, he played football mainly for clubs managed by his dad, notably Yeovil Town and Bristol City. It was whilst playing for Bristol City that the young Johnson managed to get our manager Peter Jackson sent to the stand after an altercation in the technical area. Jacko fielded the ball and Johnson tried snatching it out of his hands. Jacko wasn't happy and grabbed the little upstart round the throat, starting a bit of a melee. Jacko received a two match touchline ban.

Notable players in their squad:- Three of our former players are there. Kasey Palmer signed on for the Robins in the summer after being on loan there for the second half of last season, from Chelsea. He scored on his debut, much like he did for us, coming off the bench in a victory over Bolton Wanderers. Of course, his debut for us was very special, against Brentford, in the first minute of his introduction. He scored five goals in his time with us and has also had loan spells at Derby and Blackburn.
Got subbed at half time on Tuesday night at West Brom.
Jack Hunt signed for Bristol City in the summer of 2018 from Sheffield Wednesday. Earlier in his career he was a top class attacking right back for Huddersfield Town, but got ideas above his station, joining Premier league Crystal palace, for whom he never made a single appearance.
Wasn't even on the bench on Wednesday night at West Brom.
Helmet
Another ex Town player there is Benik Afobe. He joined on loan from Stoke at the start of the season and started well, scoring three times in five games, but then suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in training, ruling him out for the rest of the season. He of course, came to us on loan from Arsenal in 2010, helping us reach the 2011 Play Off Final.
Their leading scorer is Austrian striker Andreas Weimann with six goals. He formerly played for Aston Villa in the Premier League as well as Watford, Derby and Wolves in the Championship.
The captain is Australian international centre back Bailey Wright, who signed from Preston in 2017.
Famara Diédhiou came off the bench at West Brom to score what turned out to be a consolation.
And there is one name who will give shivers down the spine of many a Town fan. Tommy Rowe, not the pop star who gave us the song Dizzy in the 60s, but the one who scored the first goal against us for some posh bastards in 2011.
Recent Form: Town are 19th in the league with 18 points and City are 7th with 29.

Low scoring week this week with only 8 points separating first from last!! Joint top this week goes to Derby and BBB on 12 points. Derby got 2 correct scores and a spot on Bonus but like all those who played the Gamball scored a negative on that one!! BBB could have had a much better week had he had the courage of his convictions to play the Gamball, this was his 1 correct score but not playing it in the end cost him 6 points!! 3rd place goes to Themaclad on 11 points, he scored points on 5 games, a high for the PL this week.
In 4th is St Charles on 8 points, VAR cost him an extra 3 points on his bonus by ruling out Sterling's late goal for Man City, bloody VAR!!!!! 5th place this week is shared by three players - Bomber, Sanjay and Beefy - all on 7 points. Bomber was the only player this week not to get a correct score, Sanjay scored 2 correct scores but missed on both high scoring balls while Beefy started the scoring with a correct score and correct result bonus but went downhill from there!!!
AAA comes in 8th on 6 points who's tactic of not playing the Gamball saved him 3 points this week!! In last place for the second week in a row is Zinman but this week he at least managed to score some points, picking up 4. He only scored points on 2 games and like SCO was screaming at the TV after that VAR decision at Citeh!!
Cheers

It seems like a long time since I had to do a results write up so apologies in advance for any inappropriate language, comments, insults or inaccuracies. A fair spread of scores this week with 2 players getting the gamball score correct - though one of them will be regretting not having the balls to play it.
Top of the pile is Twerton, continuing his charge at the top of the table, with 21 points courtesy of 6 correct result predictions and a full set of positive balls, though he was robbed of even more bonus points by that bloody ridiculous VAR offside decision at the end of the Man City game. (He wasn't the only one punished by that insane call though I should probably just let it go). Lady Jane sits just a point behind, only 4 correct predictions but scoring on all balls, including a gamball maximum. MightyBrom would have been top this week had he played the gamball - not doing so cost him 6 points so he has to be content with third place though a respectable 16 points won't do his promotion prospects any harm.
Bit of a gap then to Amelia who just scrapes into double figures with Joker and Lord Snooty a couple of points further back, both losing on the gamball but making up for it with their bonuses, in Snooty's case with a maximum.
Stairs was staring (sorry) at a disaster week but a correct score on one of Sunday's games at least got him into positive territory and ahead of this week's contender for a place in the England batting line-up, BaggieOne who scraped just 2 points and was the only player not to get a correct score.
Apparently I'm due to see something called rain this week, not sure what that is but hopefully I should be around to continue this drivel next weekend.

| King finally "stepping down" next year!!!? |

Officially announced this morning. Why would King decide to "walk away" now? Has he finally realised, like one of his predecessors, David Murray, that RFC is actually a "cash cow" that generates lotsa debt and, as Murray admitted himself, it "fed" into his own personal fortune to an unacceptable level where he had to "call it a day" - it was financially unsustainable and bankruptcy/administration/insolvency ensued. I notice that King has mentioned the future option of creating and selling more shares. All I can add to that suggestion is AGAIN WHILE MASSIVE DEBT STILL ACCUMULATES ANYWAY?????????

2 points for a correct result
4 points for a correct score
2 points for each correct scorer
Correct joker doubles your score
Wrong joker result gives you minus 2
Correct Random Badger gives you 2 points
The random badger is used for any random prediction used once in each matchday sequence. For instance, a scorer at a particular match, the number of red cards in the matches or yellow cards or own goals or owt you want really within reason, I do need to be able to check whether it's correct or not. Please don't put stuff like....."Commentator says...."
The joker is played for one match in each sequence and if correct you get double points. So if you've predicted 1-0 and it finishes 2-0, you get 4 pts, but if you've predicted 2-0, that's 8 pts. But if you get it wrong, it's minus 2.
Jokers and badgers are optional. You don't have to play one if you don't want.
Cup games:
In the event of a draw, it's half the points if you've predicted a draw when it gets to 90 mins and the full points if it's still a draw after extra time. Half the points will be awarded for correctly predicting the winner of the match if it goes to penalties.
Random score generator: I will be using the random score generator again for those who miss predicting, so we shouldn't get some people too far behind that after missing a couple of weeks they lose all interest, because I know it's not easy getting on here every week.
To be fair to everybody, this is going to be like, say if three people in one week miss their predictions, the first one in the table will be given all 0-0, the second one down the line will get 1-0 and the third will get 0-1 and so on, like if there's four missing the 4th will get 1-1, then 5th 2-1, 6th 1-2. and if there are so many missing, might as well pack in.
And if you miss two weeks on the trot, I'll stop until you come back on again. Not doing it for half a season like I did t'other year.

SMILIES/BALLS
Bonus Ball
Score Ball, Free to use Ball , play it on a game that you think both teams will score in !
Gamball,
New Scoring System
Incorrect Result = 0 point
Incorrect Result (Bonus Ball) = -3 * Changed from -2
Incorrect Result (Gamball) = -3
[/color]
Score Ball = 1 added Point if both teams score. !
Correct Result = +2 points
Correct Result (Bonus Ball) = +3
Correct Result (Gamball) = +5 * Changed from +4
Correct Score = + 4 points
Correct Score (Bonus Ball) = +6
Correct Score (Gamball) = +10 * Changed from +8
As you can see the incorrect scoring has not really changed apart from a wrong Bonus this will be now scored at -3 instead of -2 the reason for this are the gains on the new Gamball scoring you will make (see below) in the hope this encourages you to use it most if not all of the time.
So to the Gamball, the use of the Gamball was tactically not used in some cases last season as the gains we not considered to great compared to the losses, it's for this reason we have decided to change the scoring, The loss will stay the same at -3 but the reward will be a correct result will go up by one from 4 to 5 points and the correct score will go up by 2 from 8 to 10 points !!!
Just a reminder you DO NOT have to play the Gamball if you dont want too, the score will then be marked normal.
Again the third from bottom of the premiership will play off against the third in the table from the Championship to keep even more excitement going, they will have to predict through all the Playoffs and the winner obviously takes their place in the Premier League the following season
Beefy, Bomber, Zinman & SCO
If you do not predict,...........
If in your league everyone scores above zero you will receive Zero points,
However if in your league the person with the lowest score is below Zero (eg -4) you will score -5 and receive your first strike, Remember 3 strikes and you're out.

I'm almost 100% sure Myself & the Scorers get the scores added up correctly, From time to time over the season we may get now and again get this wrong, SO IN THE EVENT OF ANY POINTS DISCREPANCIES can i ask all you guys to check your predictions and if you feel they are incorrect in anyway contact me Via PM within a week of the TABLES & SCORES being presented and they will be corrected the following week.
Anything later unless it is a Major error will NOT be corrected. It is as much your responsibility to check your scores as much as it is ours to try and score them correctly.
