I knew it was only a matter of living long enough and I would agree with Ashley Carson on something and it has happened. He has cast Chesterfield's vote for the National League's season to end.
I don't see any other solution. Contracts would have ended or been coming to an end when any possible playing re-start was possible. In National North and South and for some clubs at our high level fielding a team would have been a problem.
What this means for a club like Barrow or King's Lynn I don't know. The Chorleys too?
Certainly what it ought to mean is that we assure John Pemberton of his position and have him working from home to rustle up some of the uncommitted, free talent available around us and below for a new season.
Or am I wrong? Should everyone be sitting at home colouring in Robbie Weir?

No I didn't. I wouldn't recommend it either. They might be prioritising the ventilators, or where they attach them.
I just liked the title. Anyway all it is, is just a tiny quizette to while away the empty hours between now and crucifixion. (I did not say that and have clearly been possessed by a daemon.)
The answers are all footballers past or present.
1. More difficult to stop than a Brazilian virus? (4)
2. No commodores muck this one Lil. (6,5)
3. Had more class than an open brewery at centre forward. (5,11)
4. Maybe should be a Spanish drink but more handsome than Michelangelo's version. (5,6)
5. Safe hands in saintly Oxfordshire village. (5,7)
6. Short steps down the valley to inch-perfect passing. (5,6)
7. Potential harm in paradise? (4,6)
8. When he sat on the ball he didn't order a Madras. (4,6)
9. Martial artist and oceanic philosopher? Crossed the Pennines. (4,7)
10. Not Kyle, but fans still sang, "you'll never beat" this Hiker. (3,6)
11. Denied the presence of horse hair? (5,4)
12. Del's younger brother is heavy going. (6,5)
13. Kleptomaniac pontiff narrowing the angle. (4,4)
14. No Dick in this Dutch version of the Aeneid. (6,3,4)
15. French surrealist removes sacred sound from Zimbabwean tribal art. (6,8)
16. Denis not Mackenzie: old Arsenal player not WBA fan. (5,7)
17. Light and purity south of Stoke signed by Bill Shankly. (5,11)
18. No Kafka, but as his name suggests could hit the accelerator (5,4)
19. Genius Scottish player, joker whose lifestyle landed him in the soup. (3,6)
20. Bully wee river? Superlative centre forward? (5,4)
Hope it is not too easy. Best wishes. I'm off to the local shop. 200 yards of exercise.

Quote:
Premier League clubs will receive millions of pounds in advanced payments related to league positioning and television fees in an effort to ease their cash-flow problems.
The 20 clubs agreed to the funding to cope with the lack of income because of the coronavirus crisis, with payments expected to be in the region of £20m.
meanwhile back in the real world:
any idea what is going to happen to EFL clubs?
it`s a kick in the teeth for lower league clubs, that are facing a very uncertain future
why wasn`t this money forthcoming early this season, maybe a club like Bury would still be in the EFL
think it`s a case of the greed league worry about their own and to hell with the rest
makes my blood boil

I hope Dave Allen has a nice quiet birthday and stays in the self-isolation his age and popularity with Spireites demands.
We cannot afford him to catch the virus. We need him to outlive the virus so maybe, one day, some time in a utopian future he can willingly pass on ownership to somebody who will cherish the club and return it to the dizzy heights of well-over the goal line and David Elleray turning to VAR.
Christ everybody's now on furlough (has the virus trapped us in a re-run of 1950s musicals ……. South Pacific 2 starring Will Evans as brave all-action ugly boy and Loz Maguire searching for long-lost brother Harry whilst fighting an intermittently incurable illness?)
Furlough! Rhymes with Turlough, that's the scruffy kid from This England isn't it? Good actor mind!
Furlough!! Well what we are does begin with F.

Let two players off for drink driving whilst racing their cars which both crash, cancel the contract of a non driver who was a passenger in the car left with serious injuries.
Bye the ground back from themselves to get round FFP
Get a betting company to pay the wages of a player and now furlough the wages of non playing staff well done Derby

On Thursday 2/4/2020 a mother and her 8 year old son are feared drowned after they went missing on a canoe trip, they were chasing a ball which had fallen into a section of water.
Accidents happen of course especially in water however when the mother is the Grand daughter of Senator Robert F Kennedy then you begin t wonder whether the family is cursed. Last year another of Kennedy's grand daughters died in a drugs overdose.
What makes the latest incident seriously spooky is the stretch of water were they died was Chesapeake Bay, is Mary Jo still getting revenge years after her death
