Jenkins and all the co directors have all taken a pay cut so all non playing staff can be kept on . Amazing what a small club like Albion can do yet Megabucks Liverpool and Spurs furlonged all there none playing staff ,money grabbing Bastards.

I don't want the PL players to take pay cuts, taking a pay cut means they pay less tax which in turn means less NI contributions that pays for the NHS!! The PFA should be administering a program for them to donate a % of their income to causes that need it, but lets keep the high earners paying tax at this time. There are so many more wealthy people and certainly wealthy companies that should do more. BA made over 3b in profit last year, they have laid off staff and they are expecting some sort of government bailout - where is the outcry about that?? Football players are easy targets, and they should do as much as they can but we get so emotional and knee jerk in our expectations of them!!

just my opinion on this players wages stuff
seems to me the more money they earn the more they want
and for what?
premiership players are(the top ones anyway) earning extortionate amounts of money for kicking a football around a field
granted this pay cut would, apparently result in less taxes.
during this virus:
A: all us regular people are having to stay indoors
B: (if i`m right in saying this) a majority of top earning football players are still being paid
now i`m pretty sure that some higher earning players won`t miss a wage reduction would they?
average joe on here at the moment is probably struggling
and i`m sure some on here are wondering where their next pay cheque is coming from
overpaid and sometime overrated players need to understand
that US the fans basically pay their wages by turning up week in week out
maybe this finishing the season behind closed doors will send out a message that without fans they will sooner or later have to take wage cuts
not only to keep their respective clubs from going bust
but to keep our great game from sinking into a swamp of self greed
just my opinion

I agree, St Charles, when Hancock made his ill advised comments he hadn't thought through the implications. Like a lot of fans, I think some players get paid ridiculous salaries but that's a different argument; it's a pity that the work some players were clearly doing behind the scenes to donate funding hadn't got further before he commented. I don't usually have a lot of sympathy for highly paid footballers but this has been a cheap shot. As you say, perhaps Hancock and other members of his party could direct their comments towards some of their wealthy donors and see what they're doing to chip in.....Rees Mogg's former company of Somerset Capital Management for example (in which he still retains 15% equity).....just saying.

Just put this up on another site. For me this should happen.
There are currently 54 billionaires in Briton, I don’t see them being scapegoated along with the footballers . For me every single millionaire worth over shall we say 3 mill should be putting there hand in there pockets and donating x amount to the NHS. Being that Britain has 2.3 million millionaires of which a large proportion will have over 5 mill I really think this would be a game changer for the NHS. Just remember that Matt Hancock who started all this by scapegoating the footballers, has a net worth of up to 5 mill himself I wonder if he’s dipped his hand in his pocket.

We need to find and celebrate the good they do as well.
I am sure there are loads of examples - my friends just told me that Watford have players calling regularly to elderly season ticket holders - her father is getting a weekly call from Tommy Mooney to check how he is doing and talks of old times etc - really great stuff, no idea if other clubs are doing this.
