After the poor showing against Lincoln, we bounced back spectacularly, hitting Cambridge for 6. We got off to the perfect start when Jones put a Gregory cross into his own net. It was quickly 2 when Bannan hit one in from 30 yards. The game went a bit quiet before a quickfire double form Berahino, the first a quick turn and shot, the second from close range after a good save by the keeper. Onto the second and the goals continued Byers firing in from 12 yards then Berahino completed his hat-trick with a good finish off the post. We saw out the remainder of the game, but failed to add to the 6 we already had.

Next up Accrington at Hillsborough. We beat these 3-2 at there place just under 4 months ago. They have won 2 of there last 3 games and lie in 12th place in the league but I would be surprised if they stay in the top half of the league, though they should avoid the relegation scrap. Colby Bishop is there leading scorer with 9 goals & 4 assists. This will be the first time Accrington have made the visit to Hillsborough, lets make sure it is a unhappy one

Huddersfield Town travel to South London to the Den to take on Millwall on Wednesday night for another night of Sky Sports Football. Yes, we're on the telly again!

Well what a season this is turning out to be. Here we are, third in the table. Six points above 7th place Luton. It could and probably should have been a bigger points haul. We threw two points away on Friday night at the Hawthorns after being totally dominant for most of the game. Bad penalty decision or not, we should've seen the game out.

But given this situation at the start of the season, when expectations were low, we would have been well pleased with a draw away at West Brom. What a strange season. Strange indeed and when I said to Amelia after about five games of the season that we can hand the two promotion places to Fulham and Bournemouth now, because nobody is going to catch them. Well here we are in March, those two are still the two to catch, but would anybody have believed back then that we would be their nearest challengers?

And that if we win this tricky looking game at the Den, we could overtake Bournemouth on Saturday when the Cherries come north to the John McAlpharm Stadium. They will have another three points in the bag by the time we play this on Wednesday. Surely. They're at home to free falling Reading.

Well let's not get too far ahead. Like I said, this one looks tricky. We're on a 17 league match unbeaten run. Millwall themselves are on a 7 game unbeaten run, since they lost at Craven Cottage last month. They won five on the trot before having two goalless draws in their most recent fixtures. They have risen up the league in that time and are now only three points outside of the Play Offs, which is an achievement for a squad that is so threadbare at the moment that they have a 16 year old boy on the bench.

That squad includes three ex Town players, sweet Scotty Malone, Murray Wallace and oh Benik Afobe. Our squad is almost at full strength, with just Ryan Schofield, Alex Vallejo and Rolando Aarons being out long term at the moment, meaning players such as Fraizer Campbell, Scott High and Aaron Rowe can't even make it into the travelling squad these days.

After this and then Saturday, we have another international break. Then it's the run in. We will have another seven games to the end of the season. Mick Buxton always used to use the Grand National course to describe the season. Well in the great man's words, we're past Canal Turn, approaching Valentines' Brook and then we're in the home straight.

Here's hoping our little Spanish jockey can avoid tripping up at this ditch, known as the Den. 

The old Den

They joined the Football League in 1920/21 with the newly formed regional Third Division and one of their biggest results in those early years was beating the thrice champions, Huddersfield Town, 3-1 in the 1926/27 FA Cup. And in 1937 they reached the FA Cup semi finals, losing 2-1 to Sunderland at Huddersfield Town's Leeds Road Stadium. Town legend Dave Mangnall leading the line in that famous cup run, the first 3rd division team to reach the semis. Here's some old footage of the cup run. Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be any footage anywhere on t' internet of the game at Leeds Road.

Town lead the head to head with 23 wins to Millwall's 20, with 7 draws.

We have already beaten the Lions this season, 1-0 at home in October with a headed goal from the skipper Jonathan Hogg. Yes really. Don't believe me? Well have a watch of this then.......

So with this in mind, Millwall came to Leeds Road towards the back end of the season when we were pushing for promotion from the 3rd Div. We had just hammered Exeter 5-0 in mid week and were 3rd in the table, in those pre Play Off days when 3rd place meant automatic promotion. The Lions beat us 1-0, despite us having all the possession and shots at goal, they won it with a classic counter punch. At the final whistle, there was a pitch invasion as the Cowshed emptied and loads of big brave lads ran towards the Open End to have a go at the Millwall fans. One of my mates got tackled on the halfway line by a copper and arrested. I was still in the Cowshed by the way. I'm not a ruddy hooligan. Anyway, the Millwall lot weren't having it and had a go back, which sent most of our lot running back with their tails between their legs. Embarrassing really.

We did get promoted a couple of seasons later and on the way we beat Millwall 5-1 at Leeds Road. We made it on to Match Of The Day as well. The whole country was snowbound apart from our little pocket of springtime. And so desperate were the BBC to find a game that was still on, they dipped their toes down into the 3rd Division. And our lads didn't disappoint, pulling off a magnificent 5-1 win with goals from Mark Lillis, Colin Russell 2, Keith Hanvey and Phil Wilson. Here, have a watch.

The random badger is used for any random prediction used once in each matchday sequence. For instance, a scorer at a particular match, the number of red cards in the matches or yellow cards or own goals or owt you want really within reason, I do need to be able to check whether it's correct or not. Please don't put stuff like....."Commentator says...."  
The joker   is played for one match in each sequence and if correct you get double points. So if you've predicted 1-0 and it finishes 2-0, you get 4 pts, but if you've predicted 2-0, that's 8 pts. But if you get it wrong, it's minus 2.
Jokers and badgers are optional. You don't have to play one if you don't want.


Cup games:
In the event of a draw, it's half the points if you've predicted a draw when it gets to 90 mins and the full points if it's still a draw after extra time. Half the points will be awarded for correctly predicting the winner of the match if it goes to penalties. Similarly with the badger, if your random prediction is affected by this, it'll be half the points.

Random score generator: I will be using the random score generator again for those who miss predicting, so we shouldn't get some people too far behind that after missing a couple of weeks they lose all interest, because I know it's not easy getting on here every week.
To be fair to everybody, this is going to be like, say if three people in one week miss their predictions, the first one in the table will be given all 0-0, the second one down the line will get 1-0 and the third will get 0-1 and so on, like if there's four missing the 4th will get 1-1, then 5th 2-1, 6th 1-2. and if there are so many missing, might as well pack in.
And if you miss two weeks on the trot, I'll stop until you come back on again. Not doing it for half a season like I did t'other year.  

NEW FOR THIS SEASON: End of season Play Offs.

The one who finishes top of the league will still be champion, but after the season finishes there will be Play Offs between the top 4, with 1st v 4th and 2nd v 3rd. This will take in stuff like the EFL Play Offs, FA Cup Final, final day of Prima Donna League, European Finals etc. It will be one matchday for the semis and one for the Final. It will be the individual scores for each matchday against the allotted opponent, with some kind of tie breaker for a drawn match.
So last season's matches would've been Baggiebob(BBB) v theo_luddite and jjamez v St Charles Owl and would've given a bit more to play for towards the back end of the season.
The prize for winning will be enormous. Another rep point.

We now have an Appeals Committee set up, consisting of me, myself and I. All appeals must be made before the next Matchday kicks off.

I see Farage is showing his true colours and exactly who his paymasters are. On KGB news his morning he thinks it wrong that we are seizing oligarchs assets and what about poor old Abramovich. All I can say is bring it on and bugger John Terry and Chelski.

Nice to see that the EU can get its act together when it needs to eh Dev. That reported non democratic monster actually showing the UK the way, who would have thought it? Its a good job we have left otherwise we would have voted against all the sanctions and sod the poor refugees they can wait another week or 2. Priti Vacant knows exactly what she is doing, a cold hearted lying bitch who I bet dresses up in a SS uniform for a fun night with hubby.

Once again our leaders make me feel ashamed to be British. Poor bastards are having to travel all over Europe to find our visa offices and then it takes weeks to get an appointment then another week to get the actual visa. Even that job has been sub contracted to some Tories mate. They are charging to prioritize applications the money grabbing shits. Funny thing is the same company also handle Russian visas. Our Government is as bent as a nine bob note (45p in current terms for your benefit Matt)

One thing I have noticed is how its always little people. Patel is about 4' nothing tall and Putin is about 4' in his heels. I bet he has a big bore exhaust as well. No offence to other short people but you really do have a lot to answer for. Even Hitler was vertically challenged. It must run in the blood lines.

Rant over for the time being

Well we are a bit late getting this going this year, my fault!!

The Prediction League Cup will kick off next week with a condensed tournament due to my tardiness, it was won by BBB last year. The same set of fixtures and scores from each week will count towards each round of the group stages and knockout stages. League points are not affected, they still count towards the table as they always do.

Group matches will take place during weeks 26, 27 & 28.

The top 2 from each group will then face off against each other in the quarter finals knockout stage over 2 legs using weeks 29 & 30.

The winners of those then meet in 2 legged semi finals in weeks 32 & 33,

The final will be a straight sudden death result using the last weeks league fixtures for scoring.

Guaranteed to be a Premiership & Championship predictor in the final.

It's Thursday and I've now recovered from the double shock of seeing Albion both score and win. Tomorrow is yet another match when work may interfere with my viewing habits (I did think about being shut from 12 to 2pm but the boss might get suspicious) - I think we all hope for a similar outcome!*

On to last week's scores. SCO heads the table largely thanks to being the only player with a correct gamball result. He actually completed a full set of balls to end a poor run over the last 5 weeks. Sanjay had another good week and his early season struggles now seem a long way off - his correct results/predictions scores were better than anyone else but was denied top spot by a gamball failure. Minizin followed up last weeks high score with another decent performance to take third - in his case he was wise to avoid the gamball lottery.

The rest were covered by just 4 points. Derby and BBB had the same number of scores/results but were separated by their balls - Derby getting a correct bonus to offset his gamball while BBB was one of 3 players to lose on his bonus. BaggieOne was once again let down by his balls - he equalled SCO's score and result count but ended up 11 points behind the leader just because of those damn spherical objects. Snooty and Silver only managed to score on 3 games though Snooty did at least get one correct score and extra points from his bonus and score balls.

Derby extended his lead at the top thanks to Silver's poor week. Not a lot of positional change - just SCO and Minizin swopping places - in a week where the scores were relatively close. It look's like Derby's title to lose but there's still time for the chasing pack to catch him, though some tactical changes (i.e. playing the gamball!) may be needed.

Could these scores provide us with the statement week for a couple of players.  Leading the way this week is Blue Baggie with 21 points.  He has been consistent all season and only out of top spot for a couple of weeks, has he sealed his promotion to the PL with this result??  He was one of only 3 players to score on the Gamball and backed that up with a spot on Bonus.  Second spot goes to a back in form Twerton with 17 points, his battle with Amelia at the bottom will go to the end!!  Third spot belongs to Stairs, like Blue he has been in the automatic promotion spots all season and being up there again this week with 16 points will see him stretch the gap on those below him.

Salop and Zinman are in the thick of a tussle for the PO spot and they matched each other this week with 10 points each.  Salop scored on less games but him not playing the Gamball saved him 3 precious points.  Zinman blew the Gamball but did score points on half the games.  Another player chasing the PO spot is next with 9 points.  Dingle has seen a resurgence in recent weeks, its stalled a bit this week but he won't lose much ground.

Lady Janes poor form continues, just 6 points this week with no CSs but at least got a CR Bonus.  Themaclad has to be the player with the poorest form, he managed just 3 points this week and this will see him drop further down the table.  Amelia unfortunately doesn't have that far left to fall but I fear that with Twerton's form she might hit rock bottom again!!

Blue extends his lead at the top to 12 points over Stairs but more crucially the gap below Stairs is now 30 points, is that too big a gap for those below to close?? 

The battle for the PO spot is still going strong.  Salop holds that place at the moment, 5 points ahead of Zinman who in turn is now 7 points ahead of Dingle, who moved up another spot this week.  Themaclad is still in it but he needs to find some form.

Lady Jan has now dropped from 3rd place a few weeks ago to third bottom this week, and she is rapidly being caught by Twerton in 8th.  Amelia does indeed drop back to last place and is now 6 points behind Twerton.

All still have something to play for whether it be glory or just simply some pride!!

Pixie O'Harris MBE (born Rhona Olive Harris; 15 October 1903 – 17 November 1991) was a Welsh-born Australian artist, newspaper, magazine and book illustrator, author, broadcaster, caricaturist and cartoonist, designer of book plates, sheet music covers and stationery, and children's hospital ward fairy-style mural painter. She became patron to Sydney's Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children in 1977.[1]
Rhona Olive Harris was the daughter of George Frederick Harris, chairman of the Royal Art Society Cardiff, Wales, and Rosetta Elizabeth Harris (née Lucas). She was the fifth of nine children.[1] Rhona was the aunt of Rolf Harris. Her brother was Cromwell Harris, who immigrated from Cardiff, Wales to Perth, Western Australia. Cromwell was the father of Rolf Harris.

She was educated at Sully village school and Allensbank Girls School in Cardiff.[1] At age 14 she was a member of the South West Art Society.[1] The Harris family migrated to Australia in 1920 and settled in Perth. They moved to Sydney in 1921.[1]

Disliking her given name Rhona, and having been dubbed "the Welsh pixie" on the boat over to Australia, she became known as "Pixie".[1]

She originally produced her professional work under the name "Pixie O. Harris"; however, following a printer's error at the Sydney Morning Herald, which printed her name as "Pixie O'Harris", she permanently used that pseudonym.[2]

During the 1950s she completed a series of murals and paintings for the children's wards of several hospitals with her brother Olaf.[3] Some of these were later rediscovered, restored and put on display in 2020.[4]
