Prediction League Cup Competition 2021-22 - St Charles Owl - 11-03-2022
Well we are a bit late getting this going this year, my fault!!
The Prediction League Cup will kick off next week with a condensed tournament due to my tardiness, it was won by BBB last year. The same set of fixtures and scores from each week will count towards each round of the group stages and knockout stages. League points are not affected, they still count towards the table as they always do.
Group matches will take place during weeks 26, 27 & 28.
The top 2 from each group will then face off against each other in the quarter finals knockout stage over 2 legs using weeks 29 & 30.
The winners of those then meet in 2 legged semi finals in weeks 32 & 33,
The final will be a straight sudden death result using the last weeks league fixtures for scoring.
Guaranteed to be a Premiership & Championship predictor in the final.
An online random number sequence generator was used to determine the groups for each league based on the current standings, here are the groups:

Reigning champion BBB looks like he will fall at the group stages this year. Sanjay is leading the way with 2nd spot looking like being between Derby and SCO.

Dingle, Stairs and Zinman looks like a race of two out of three. LJ and Themaclad look like they will be focussing on the league!!

Complete turnaround in this one as Salop went from first to last and potentially out!! The top three have all to play for.

Didn't realize this has started such is my interest.
However I have a question: If this is to be an open Prediction League Cup, then why aren't all the players in ONE mix and not TWO being Prem in one and Champ in the other?
Can you imagine the FA cup or any other KO competition being run on similar lines?/

Oh God I hope no official body ever runs a competition as lax as we run this!!!!
This is how it has always been done, it guarantees a player from each division in the Final.

41 - Lord Snooty
34 - Minizin
21 - Baggie One
12 - Silver
Easy progression in the end for Lord Snooty and Minizin.
Group 2
35 - Sanjay
25 - Derby
21 - St Charles Owl
8 - BBB
Sanjay easily through and though SCO kept it close Derby is the other player to progress to the next round. As suspected the reigning champion BBB is out at the first hurdle.
Group 3
23 - Dingle
22 - Zinman
21 - Stairs
19 - Lady Jane
7 - Themaclad
The only group with a change in the top two this week. Dingle and Stairs both had terrible weeks but whereas Dingle just held onto top spot, Zinman was able to pip Stairs and dump him out of the competition.
Group 4
40 - Blue Baggie
31 - Twerton
25 - Amelia
24 - Salop
Highest scoring group won easily by Blue who is joined in the next round by Twerton. Amelia and Salop would have progressed has they been in Group 3 but unfortunately for them they came up against 2 form players.
Quarter Finals
QF1 - Lord Snooty v Derby
QF2 - Sanjay v Minizin
QF3 - Dingle v Twerton
QF4 - Blue Baggie v Zinman
Two-legged games to take place over Weeks 29 and 30. Winner of QF1 will play the winner of QF2, and QF3 will play QF4 in the semi finals.
