Blackburn Rovers have activated the one-year extension option in forward Ben Brereton Diaz's contract.
Brereton Diaz's current deal was due to expire at the end of next month, but he is now under contract at Ewood Park until the end of June 2023.
The Chile international, 23, scored 22 Championship goals this season, including 20 by the end of December.
Blackburn slipped out of promotion contention to finish the campaign in eighth, six points off a play-off spot.
Brereton Diaz initially joined Blackburn on loan from Nottingham Forest in 2018 before it became permanent in a £7m deal, and has played 127 games for Rovers.
But after managing only nine goals in his first three seasons, Brereton Diaz was transformed as he became the first Blackburn player in 57 years to hit 20 in a season by the end of a calendar year.
However, he picked up an ankle injury in a match at West Bromwich Albion in February, and Rovers lost momentum without him. When he returned, he managed two goals in seven games as Blackburn missed out on the top six.

Sheffield United defender Chris Basham has agreed a new two-year contract with the club.
Basham, 33, will now remain at Bramall Lane until June 2024.
The centre half has played 348 times and scored 11 goals for the Blades since joining from Blackpool in 2014.
"Bash has been a vital member of the squad for a number of years and there is definitely more to come from him," said manager Paul Heckingbottom.
"He is fantastic in the dressing room, one of the fittest lads in the squad and I don't have to tell Blades fans what he brings when he pulls on a red and white striped shirt."
Basham was a key part of the team that got promoted under Chris Wilder in 2016-17 out of League One and then up to the Premier League in 2018-19.
This season he has made 28 Championship appearances as the Blades finished fifth, setting up a play-off semi-final against Nottingham Forest with the first leg at Bramall Lane on Saturday.
"I'm excited about the future under Hecky," Basham told the club's website.
"This is a fantastic club and I love playing here. If I can contribute for another two years then that'll be brilliant for me."

Exeter City manager Matt Taylor says he wants to refine his squad over the summer and does not expect to make wholesale changes after promotion.
The Grecians finished second in League Two and have released just a handful of experienced players this summer.
Taylor wants a goalkeeper, forwards and a left-sided player ahead of his first season as a League One manager.
"It's going to be a smaller squad next season, it's going to be more refined," Taylor told BBC Sport.
"There's going to be less young players with ourselves and we're looking to add quality to the group."
The vast core of Exeter's promotion-winning squad are contracted for next season so Taylor says he will be focusing on experience, although his budget will be constrained as the club has been forced to pay substantially more for their planned new training ground after the initial contractors pulled out of the multimillion-pound project.
"It'd be great if we could add a little bit more higher-level knowhow, whether that's League One or Championship or even higher levels," he added.
"Just the belief that they've played in those capacity stadiums, in those big atmospheres, in the higher-intensity games and higher-level games just gives us a bit more confidence in what they can produce.
"Everyone talks about this league being an incredible league with the size of the clubs and how well they're backed financially, but we've got to back ourselves as well.
"It'd be wrong for me to say we're targeting 20th place right now, it'd be wrong for me to say we're targeting the play-offs - we've got to assess the league.
"Stability's the best word to use, we want to be a stable club in League One.
"The Trust board have said that for a countless number of seasons now and that's what we're working towards.
"But stability might mean staving off a relegation battle, it might mean pushing for the play-offs, as long as we can compete consistently, that's what we're looking to do."

I just wondered views were on the news that he’s not signing a contract with the club and so will be a free agent.
I’ve never seen him play but the amount of goals he scored, the rave reviews and the previously cited queue of prominent clubs wanting to sign him would indicate we have, once again, failed to keep hold a young talented player.
Who knows how his career will turn out but this example, along with many other, well documented ones, seems to indicate a malaise in the club when it comes to developing, blooding and retaining our academy players.
At least it seems he probably won’t go to the Villa, unlike most of the others

So normal service is resumed and Celtic attain 31 consecutive league matches unbeaten. Profligate in front of United's goal tonight and should've been "out of sight", but for a vg goal scored by young Levit of United who is, in fact, a Man U loanee, one of many English footie loanees who take up positions in Scot footie these days and then disappear after establishing a platform of reputation to move on to better paying footie clubs elsewhere. Anyway, job done by Celtic and there is no doubt that they'll strengthen considerably in the summer under Ange's direction and ready for Euro Champs League group action.

Plymouth Argyle midfielder Panutche Camara has been put up for sale after refusing to sign a new contract at the League One club.
The 25-year-old's current deal ends next year after the Pilgrims took up the option of a 12-month extension in February.
But talks between the club and Guinea-Bissau international have broken down.
Argyle are now looking to cash in on the player, rather than risk losing him for nothing next season.
"Extended talks had been ongoing for a number of months regarding a significantly improved deal for the Guinea-Bissau international, but talks have now ended, with the 25-year-old's representatives confirming that Camara will not be signing a new deal at Argyle," a statement on the club's website said.
"With the midfielder entering the final year of his existing contract and showing no intention of agreeing new terms, the club will now seek to facilitate a move for Camara, in line with our transfer strategy."
Camara began his career at Dulwich Hamlet in 2017 before moving to Crawley Town later that year and then on to Plymouth in 2020.
He played 47 times this season, scoring five goals, the south-coast club just missed out on a play-off spot.
They finished the season seventh in the table on 80 points, failing to win any of their last five matches and losing 5-0 at home to MK Dons on the final day of the season.

elegated Watford have appointed former Forest Green Rovers boss Rob Edwards as their new manager from the end of the current season.
The confirmation follows Edwards' departure from Rovers, the club he has just led to the League Two title.
Forest Green had earlier said negotiations between Watford and Edwards took place "behind our backs".
Current Watford boss Roy Hodgson is due to leave the Hornets at the end of the current campaign.
Forest Green's owner Dale Vince told BBC Sport: "It takes a bit of the shine off winning promotion. If there's any karma in football they'll languish in the Championship and we'll meet them there in a few years' time."
"[Edwards] said he'd been advised by Watford and his agent to keep it a secret from Forest Green which I think is pretty poor from them. It's poor from Rob and he knows it.
"I thought I knew him better as a person."
Watford were relegated from the Premier League after defeat by Hodgson's former team Crystal Palace on Saturday.
In a statement, Watford said: "Rob had a contractual provision allowing him to leave Forest Green Rovers at any time to discuss employment opportunities at other clubs and the Hornets are delighted to confirm our discussions concluded today."
Edwards, 39, will become Watford's eighth permanent manager since the start of 2018.
The former Wales international took over at Rovers last summer, having previously coached England's youth teams, and led the Gloucestershire club, who entered the Football League in 2017, to a first promotion from League Two.
Edwards has previously managed Wolves on an interim basis and Telford United full-time.
He left Telford to work as a coach in the England Under-20s setup, eventually being named head coach of the country's Under-16s side from 2020 before his move to Forest Green.

FGR confirms the departure of Head Coach Rob Edwards. Rob was a key part of the team that gained promotion to League One this season. We’re disappointed that our support, loyalty and honesty towards Rob has been repaid in this way - with negotiations taking place behind our backs.
We had no contact from Watford, from whom we might expect less, but in any event this kind of behaviour gives football a bad name.
We thank Rob for all his work at FGR - forgive him the manner of his departure and wish him well.

Coventry City midfielder Jodi Jones has been released by the club after six injury-disrupted years.
The 24-year-old made 12 league and cup appearances in 2021-22, without adding to his eight goals for the Sky Blues.
Defender Josh Pask, 24, is also leaving the club at the expiry of his current deal, having been on loan at Newport County since January.
Coventry took up an option to extend Jordan Shipley's contract, but the midfielder has now joined Shrewsbury.
The 24-year-old, who has played more than 150 games for the club and scored the second goal in Coventry's 3-1 win over Exeter City in the League Two play-off final at Wembley in 2018, has signed a three-year deal with the League One side for an undisclosed fee.
On Jones, Coventry boss Mark Robins said he had been "hugely unlucky" with injuries, but had made some "key contributions" to their successes in recent seasons.
"He has shown tremendous character to comeback, is a great person and I know everyone connected to the Sky Blues wishes him the best," Robins added.

Stoke City have released defenders James Chester and Tommy Smith and forwards Tom Ince and Steven Fletcher.
Former Wales international Chester, 33, initially joined the Potters on loan from Aston Villa in January 2020 before signing permanently that August.
Smith, 30, joined from Huddersfield in 2019, a year after Ince, also 30, made the same move.
Former Scotland international Fletcher, 35, spent two years with the club after joining from Sheffield Wednesday.
The Potters, who finished 14th in the Championship, had previously announced that former England international Phil Jagielka, 39, had signed a new six-month deal.
The ex-Sheffield United and Everton centre-back joined in January after a stint with Derby and played 19 games.
