2 points for correct result
4 points for correct score
2 points for each correct scorer
Correct joker doubles your score (correct score on a joker would give you 8 points)
Wrong joker result gives you minus 2
Correct Badger gives you 2 points
The prize for winning the league is one rep point.
Cup games: In the event of a draw, it's half the points if you've predicted a draw when it gets to 90 mins and the full points if it's still a draw after extra time. Half the points will be awarded for correctly predicting the winner of the match if it goes to penalties. However, if you do predict a draw and it's a match that won't be going to a replay, you can get a possible extra point by stating which of the two teams you think will eventually win.
Random score generator: I will be using the random score generator again for those who miss predicting, so we shouldn't get some people too far behind that after missing a couple of weeks they lose all interest, because I know it's not easy getting on here every week.
To be fair to everybody, this is going to be like, say if three people in one week miss their predictions, the first one in the table will be given all 0-0, the second one down the line will get 1-0 and the third will get 0-1 and so on, like if there's four missing the 4th will get 1-1, then 5th 2-1, 6th 1-2. and if there are so many missing, might as well pack in.
And if you miss two weeks on the trot, I'll stop until you come back on again. Not doing it for half a season like I did t'other year.
At the end of the season, the winner of group 2 and the bottom of group 1 will swap places in what is commonly known as "promotion" and "relegation". It's something that most football fans will be familiar with, unless you're a fan of Liverpool or Arsenal or one of those other fashionable clubs.
The second placed player in group 2 will then have a play off with the player who finishes second from the bottom in group 1 to decide whether they will be going up, down or staying where they are.
We're going to have two seasons in one though, just to try and make it a bit more interesting and not so long drawn out. The first season will end on the Boxing Day fixtures, with the play offs being on the dates of the Twixtmas fixtures and the NYD fixtures.
The second season will start the following week, which is usually the FA Cup 3rd round, finishing on the last game of the League One season. Then another period of relegation/promotion play off games, taking in such fixtures as the EFL play offs, FA Cup Final, UEFA finals and such like.
Each group will have it's own set of fixtures. Both groups will have the Town games, with scorers to predict as before. Then it will be a split of League One fixtures and bonus matches, hopefully around ten, eleven or twelve games per Matchday.
The random badger is restricted to three goal scorers in any of the fixtures in your group.
Here's how that will appear at the end of the fixture list. All you have to do is fill in the blanks.......
*** scores for ***
*** scores for ***
*** scores for ***
Any of those will score two points if correct. No minus points for getting it wrong.
Postponed matches will only count if the match is re-played before the next Matchday is under way. Abandoned matches will be awarded half the points for the score at the time of abandonment, so 1 point if you have the correct result, 2 points if you have the correct score.
Substitute or scorer in one of the Town games:- These will be only be allowed if you change them before the match involved has kicked off.

Huddersfield Town v Manchester United under 21s
Bristol Street Motors Trophy - Group F
Tuesday November 12th - 19:45 ko
at the John Smith's Stadium
![[Image: The-John-Smiths-Stadium.jpg]](http://i1.examiner.co.uk/incoming/article5074982.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/The-John-Smiths-Stadium.jpg)
Huddersfield Town welcome Manchester United under 21s to the John Smith's Stadium on Tuesday evening for our final match in the group stage of this season's EFL Trophy.
It's the last game in the group and the stakes couldn't be higher. Doncaster Rovers have already qualified for the next round by beating Barnsley a fortnight ago. All United's kids have to do is get a draw. Town must win to progress. Even if we draw and then win the resulting penalty shoot out, it won't be enough as we are, as it stands, two points behind them. A shoot out win only gets you one single bonus point. Both teams would receive a point for the draw over 90 minutes.
Michael Duff picked strong teams for both games played so far, with just a couple of young 'uns in the debacle in Doncaster. There are restrictions to how many team changes can be made. No restrictions on goalkeepers, any goalie will do but the restrictions on outfield selections are quite complicated. Basically, four of the outfield players must be genuine first teamers, meaning players from the last team picked or a player who has over 40 first team games behind him. Players on loan from the Premier League, even if they haven't played in the first team are classed in this category. So despite not having 40 games behind him, Callum Marshall would be called into this category. He won't be playing though as he's away on international duty. As are Brodie Spencer and Josh Koroma.
As for United. They need a minimum of six players who were aged under 21 on the 30th of June this year. They may also include a maximum of two players who are aged over 21 and also have more than 40 first team games behind them. So they could have a couple of first teamers in the game who haven't got many minutes in this season, if they wanted.
I think Chris Maxwell will probably get another game. Michal Helik should at least start, see how he gets on. I desperately want to see Tom Iorpenda get a full game and get his first goal in a first team game. Rhys Healy has to start the game as well, hopefully get a full 90 minutes in. Does Freddie Ladapo get a game? Wasn't even on the bench on Saturday. Neither was Danny Ward. No Koroma or Marshall available, so either one of them will line up alongside Healy. I'd love to see Zak Abbott at least on the bench and making his debut. He scored twice for the B team last week. Peter Thomas played against Donny though and maybe he might get another starting place.
Tickets:
Adults - £10
Under 18s - £5
A brief history of Man Utd u21s record in this competition:
2023/24: knocked out in group stage, including an 8-1 defeat at Bolton.
2022/23: knocked out in last 16, 4-0 defeat at Bolton.
2021/22: knocked out in group stage
2020/21: knocked out in round 2, lost 3-2 at Accrington
2019/20: knocked out in round 2 at Tranmere, 3-2.
Man Utd's profiles: The Academy head coach and in charge of the Busby Babes in this game will be Travis Binnion, a 37 year old who started his playing career with the Sheffield Utd Academy, but never made the first team. Before football though, he had a short (one match) career as a cricketer with Nottinghamshire.
After a short spell playing in Finland, he quit playing to become a coach and was offered a job back at Bramall Lane. He moved to Man Utd in 2019 and became Academy head coach in 2021. His team won the FA Youth Cup in 2022, with current first teamers Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho in the side that beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 in the Final.
Another of the coaches is a name that will give many a Town fan shudders down the spine. He's 36 years old and has been playing as one of the over age players. He scored the first goal in a 3-0 defeat of ours in 2011 at Old Trafford. His name is Tommy Rowe.
Seventeen year old twins, Jack and Tyler Fletcher are the sons of former United player, Scottish international and current first team coah, Darren Fletcher. It's Jack who seems to be making a name for himself at this stage of their progression. He came on a a sub in the game at Oakwell and scored twice as United came form 2-0 down to win 3-2 against Barnsley.
Ethan Ennis scored the first goal in that comeback. He's 19 years old and according to his Wikipedia page has been described as having "brilliant quality on the ball", "an eye for a creative pass", and "brilliant instincts in front of goal". He has also been called, 'two-footed, commanding in the air, and jet-heeled'.
Scores in Group F:
Aug 20: Barnsley 2-3 Man Utd u21
Sep 3: Donny 2-1 Town
Sep 24: Donny 3-3 Man Utd u21 (Utd win on pens)
Oct 8: Town 2-0 Barnsley
Oct 29: Barnsley 1-3 Donny

EX North Ender, educationally very well qualified
Portsmouth
Mousinho was appointed as head coach of League One club Portsmouth on 20 January 2023, his first managerial role.[93] He signed a "long-term contract" with the club.[92] Portsmouth chief executive Andrew Cullen stated Mousinho's leadership and motivational skills were an important reason behind his appointment.[92] Mousinho's first game as manager was a 2–0 victory against Exeter City at Fratton Park on 21 January 2023.[94] With the club positioned in 15th place in League One at the time of his appointment,[92] Portsmouth ended the 2022–23 season in 8th place after finishing the season on an 11-match unbeaten run.[95]
Portsmouth's unbeaten run extended into the new season and, having guided his side to thirteen points from five matches, he was awarded the EFL League One Manager of the Month award for September 2023.[96] He won the award for a second time in February 2024, four wins from an unbeaten five matches further cementing their place at the top of the league.[97]
On 14 April 2024, he was named the League One Manager of the Season for 2023–24 at the EFL Awards.[98] Two days later, Portsmouth clinched promotion to the EFL Championship and were crowned champions of League One.[99]

The Fitness Test
Liam Lindsay was forced off in the midweek draw against Sunderland with a suspected groin injury and will need to be assessed ahead of this game.
North End will once again be without Ched Evans, Patrick Bauer, Robbie Brady, and Will Keane.
There are no other injury issues for Paul Heckingbottom to contend with.
Pompey
After spending 12 seasons outside of the Championship, Portsmouth made their long-awaited return to the second tier earlier this year, after finishing top of League One under former North End captain John Mousinho.
Things haven’t quite got going for Pompey this term, though, having taken nine points from their opening 14 matches and they currently sit bottom of the table.
They earned their first victory of the campaign last month in a 2-1 win over Queens Park Rangers, while they’re still looking for their first home success of 2024/25.
The Officials
Referee: John Busby
Assistant Referees: Jonathan Hunt and Shaun Hudson
Fourth Official: Charles Breakspear
John Busby will referee North End for the first time since March 2024, when North End beat Plymouth Argyle on the road.
Busby has also taken charge of four other PNE victories, including a 3-1 win over Huddersfield Town in December of last year.
So far this season, Busby has refereed ten matches and has shown 38 yellow cards and two reds in that time.

WBA vs Burnley & Hull - Match Thread |

Now winless in seven - our worst run since the eight that Steve Bruce served up on his way out two years ago - the last thing Albion need at the moment is an encounter with a side we haven't beaten since August 2017, but all the same, 4th-place Burnley are rolling up to the Hawthorns tonight in search of consecutive league wins over us for the first time since August 2007. Keeping clean sheets at home hasn't been a problem for us so far this season, but alas, finding the net has been the issue: if we fail to score tonight, it'll be the first time since April 1939 we've gone goalless for four consecutive matches at the Hawthorns outside the top flight.
A visit to struggling Hull is next up on Sunday, and might be the friendlier prospect to get back to winning ways before another fortnight's break. But one way or another, the big result's got to come from somewhere, and the sooner the better.

Robins Gone |

Coventry City boss Mark Robins, the English Football League's longest serving manager, has been sacked by the Championship club.
Robins, 54, was in his second spell as Sky Blues boss, having returned to the club in March 2017 after the sacking of Russell Slade.
His departure in the wake of Wednesday's defeat by Derby County comes after just four wins in 14 Championship games this season that leaves the Sky Blues 17th in the table and equal on points with Plymouth in the relegation spots.
Robins' sacking comes just over 17 months since he got the Sky Blues to within one win of a Premier League return, with Coventry beaten by Luton Town on penalties in the Championship play-off final in May 2023.
"The club is well aware that this is a difficult moment after over seven very successful years at the helm and this decision is not taken lightly," Coventry City said in a statement on their website., external
"The performance of the team over an extended period, however, has just not been good enough and as such the board of the club has decided to make an immediate change in leadership."
While defeat by Derby was Coventry's seventh in the league this season, it was their first in four games - a run that included back-to-back wins against Luton Town and Middlesbrough.
First-team coach Rhys Carr has been placed in interim charge for Saturday's game against leaders Sunderland.
Former Manchester United striker Robins signed a new four-year contract in May 2023, but he was forced to part with his long-time number two Adi Viveash this summer, as the club appointed ex-Sky Blues midfielder George Boateng and Wolves development coach Carr to form a reshaped backroom team.
In the top four tiers of English football, only Manchester City's Pep Guardiola has lasted longer than Robins' seven years, eight months and one day.
Simon Weaver has spent 15 years with Harrogate Town, but most of it before the League Two club entered the EFL.
Former Rotherham, Barnsley, Huddersfield and Scunthorpe manager Robins has taken charge of 780 matches in his managerial career - more than half of which have been with the Sky Blues.
He enjoyed 171 wins in 420 games at the helm, of which 17 came in his first period in charge between September 2012, when he succeeded Andy Thorn, and February 2013, when Robins left to join Huddersfield.
Coventry's struggles at the start of this campaign are in marked contrast to the success largely experienced in Robins' second spell.
A month after replacing Slade, Robins took City to Wembley, winning the EFL Trophy, before returning to the stadium for the League Two play-off final, which they won, beating Exeter 3-1, to win promotion to League One.
The club's first promotion in more than half a century was then followed by another in 2019-20 as the 'homeless' Sky Blues won the League One title in the Covid-curtailed season at their base at Birmingham City's St Andrew's off the back of a 14-game unbeaten run.
After finishing 16th and 12th, Coventry came within one game of ending their then 22-year exile from the Premier League when they lost to Luton in the Championship play-off final at Wembley.
Then came last season's run in the FA Cup where they lost an epic semi-final to eventual winners Manchester United in the club's fourth visit to Wembley under Robins.
Much of Robins' success was achieved despite years of uncertainty and upheaval off the field that culminated in a change of ownership of the club's landlords at the CBS Arena followed by the sale of the club itself to businessman Doug King in January 2023.
Robins' 'achievements will never be forgotten'
In their statement announcing Robins’ departure, Coventry said he would be "remembered and lauded as one of the club's greatest ever managers".
"There is no doubt that Coventry City would not be where it is today without the inspired actions of Mark and his team," the statement continued.
"Mark masterminded and built several teams over that time that outperformed their budget, outperformed their infrastructure and brought back a playing style, credibility and belief to our City that had been lost and eroded over many years.
"These achievements will never be forgotten by those who witnessed such deeds and the broader community that once again began to rekindle their affection for our club."
Last season's faltering challenge for a play-off place came off the back of City's FA Cup exploits as a run of one point from the last six games left the club nine points off the top six, in ninth.
Nevertheless, expectation going into this campaign was high, backed up by record season-ticket sales, a revamp of the training facilities and several new signings, including winger Jack Rudoni from Huddersfield and West Bromwich Albion striker Brandon Thomas-Asante.
But Robins' side struggled. A win against promoted Oxford in their first home game of the season was one of only two from their first 11 league matches.
However, a brief turnaround in form, which included beating a Luton side that was relegated from the Premier League last season and a comprehensive win at Middlesbrough, was not enough to save his job.

LAST MATCH
After the Watford debacle, we got back to winning ways and a clean sheet over Norwich. Ugbo somehow missed from close range before Windass was fed beautifully by Johnson, who steadied himself and fired past Long. We made it 2 just past the half hour mark when Iorfa headed in a free kick, although there keeper could have done better. Onto the 2nd half and we had a few chances to increase the lead, but didn't. Norwich did have the ball in the back of the net but was correctly ruled out for offside and we managed to see out the game.

THE MATCH
So here we are, the first Derby of the season, as we make the short trip across the city to the Sty. The Blunts have made a very good start to life back in the Championship and currently lie in 2nd place in the table. They should be there or thereabouts come the end of the season, hopefully the playoffs where they always implode They are manged by one of there own in Wilder, who will have them 110% fired up for this one. There leading score is Hamer who has 4 goals.

Hibs v St Mirren - Saturday 9 November |

Another home game for Hibs on Saturday with the visit of St Mirren.
Even after losing 3 players due to court appearances, The Buddies will still be tough opponents, although they lost their way over a 4-week period. But now they have recovered with 4 points in their last 2 games to sit in 7th place, only 4 points above Hibs.
As for The Hibees, there's not really anything I can add to my previous posts, so all we need to do is cut out the stupid individual mistakes and convert various scoring chances that we do occasionally manage to create. Sounds easy, doesn't it? Another draw beckons in a game we should be capable of winning.
