West Ham vs WBA - FA Cup Fourth Round Match Thread
Posted by: Ska'dForLife-WBA - 23-01-2020, 21:29 - Forum: West Bromwich Albion - Replies (13)

Leaving the travails of the league behind for one weekend must be an attractive proposition to fans of both clubs in this Saturday's fourth-round cup tie, as Albion travel down to London for a clash against West Ham. No doubt it'll carry some extra significance for Slaven Bilic, facing his former employers for the first time, but the teams are each on an iffy run, and it may simply end up being a question of which side actually minds being in the cup less.

Of course, it'd be a shame for that to be the case, and in the spirit of past meetings between the Baggies and the Hammers, let's hope that it's not. It's been a long time now since the infamous 4-3 comeback in 2003, but the last cup tie between the sides resulted in a 4-0 Albion rout in the 2015 fifth round, and three of the four matches since then were lively affairs that produced a total of fourteen goals. Neither of our two visits to the Taxpayers Stadium have yielded a win, but with the burden of the promotion race temporarily lifted, there's hope for an upset this time round.

SMILIES/BALLS

Smartass  Bonus Ball
Tongue  Score Ball, Free to use Ball , play it on a game that you think both teams will score in !
Doh  Gamball,

New Scoring System

Incorrect Result =  0 point
Incorrect Result (Bonus Ball) = -3 * Changed from -2
Incorrect Result (Gamball) = -3
[/color]
Score Ball = 1 added Point if both teams score.  !

Correct Result = +2 points
Correct Result (Bonus Ball) = +3
Correct Result (Gamball) = +5  * Changed from +4
Correct Score = + 4 points
Correct Score (Bonus Ball) = +6
Correct Score (Gamball) = +10   * Changed from +8

As you can see the incorrect scoring has not really changed apart from a wrong Bonus this will be now scored at -3 instead of -2 the reason for this are the gains on the new Gamball scoring you will make (see below) in the hope this encourages you to use it most if not all of the time.

So to the Gamball, the use of the Gamball was tactically not used in some cases last season as the gains we not considered to great compared to the losses, it's for this reason we have decided to change the scoring, The loss will stay the same at -3 but the reward will be a correct result will go up by one from 4 to 5 points and the correct score will go up by 2 from 8 to 10 points !!!
Just a reminder you DO NOT have to play the Gamball if you dont want too, the score will then be marked normal.  Thumb up

Again the third from bottom of the premiership will play off against the third in the table from the Championship to keep even more excitement going, they will have to predict through all the Playoffs and the winner obviously takes their place in the Premier League the following season   Thumb up

Beefy, Bomber, Zinman & SCO   Thumb up

If you do not predict,...........
If in your league everyone scores above zero you will receive Zero points,
However if in your league the person with the lowest score is below Zero (eg -4) you will score -5 and receive your first strike, Remember 3 strikes and you're out.

All scores must be in before MIDDAY SATURDAY,(For The Early Kick Off If Applicable) If the early kick off is missed the rest of your predictions must reach us by 2.45pm or none will be counted.

Anything later unless it is a Major error will NOT be corrected. It is as much your responsibility to check your scores as much as it is ours to try and score them correctly.

Bad news - Naismith and Porteous sidelined for months!!
Posted by: 0762 - 22-01-2020, 15:10 - Forum: Hibernian - No Replies

What a massive negative impact from that drawn out match at Tannadice last Sunday!! Naismith out for the season and Porteous less affected with a similar knee injury but still out until about April!! This kinda sums up Hibs season in many ways and I think JR/Hibs FC must move positively to cover for this defensive loss. Oh the joys of running a footie club while being unluckily hit by negative incidents like the ones we observed on Sunday afternoon!!!

QPR v The Owls FAC 4th Rd Match Thread

THE MATCH

LAST MATCH

Well that was our worst performance for quite a while. Wrong team for the tactics employed and the players showing little fight when going behind and when Luongo got sent off. The defending was poor and we were playing long balls up to Winnall which was never going to work. We made Blackburn look like world beaters and of course that was there first win in 5, Wednesday being generous to the opposition yet again when on a win-less run.

THE MATCH

Onto the Cup and we travel down to London to take on QPR. They thrashed Swansea 5-1 in the previous round and will be looking to make short work of us after our dismal showing against Blackburn. Warburton has suggested he might put out a strong line-up so it could be interesting to see how Monk plays it. I would expect 4-5 changes at least, maybe more after the Blackburn game. Its definitely a chance to progress to the 5th round, just hope the players attitude is 100% better than the last game.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola wants the League Cup scrapped to help ease the fixture congestion in English football. (Guardian)

Why not scrap the Champions league?. Perhaps that would solve your problems. Your team don`t even play in the English football league, yet get seeded into the Cup half way through, after grassroots teams have battled to get where they are in the hope of catching a "big" draw to pay for the seasons costs. You could just not enter the competition.

Scottish Cup 5th round draw - BSC Glasgow if we eliminate Dundee Utd!

This could turn out to be a decent draw v lesser opponents but, first of all, Hibs need to deal with the Tangerines at ER Stadium on Tues 28 January.

Hibs v Hamilton Accies - Wed 22 Jan, KO 7.45pm
Posted by: 0762 - 20-01-2020, 16:29 - Forum: Hibernian - Replies (5)

This will be a welcome fixture to quickly follow on from Hibs Scottish Cup tie at Tannadice. And it comes at a time when the Accies board is in consternation re their manager's voluntary revelation to the SFA that he still has a gambling addiction that he really needs to redress. Re this Premiership match, JR has injury probs but luckily the affected positions are covered by Gray and Magregor. IMO we still need more cover/more players in asap! We'll see how Hibs tackle this fixture but I hope the guys just play out a good expansive game of footie and try to win it in style. I'd like to see Omeonga "battling" in the midfield area and hopefully Slivka has recovered from his recent injury to participate too. Poss Daryl Horgan to be given a start as well.

MACS MYSTIC FORM GUIDE 25 MAX

BARNSLEY 10 PNE 5

A trip to the people's republic of South Yorkshire at night, the joy, for the hastily re arranged game at Oakwell due to the home sides cup committments next Saturday, we have that day off again.
Although lurking in and around the danger zone the home side have picked up since the appointment of AS Wolfsburger manager Gerhard Struber
[Image: download-9.jpg]

Seems a really decent bloke to boot and has turned them into a very attractive side to watch, still think they are a bit iffy at the back but have the capability of bagging a few, they have been without main scorer Woodrow for a few match but Chaplin and appearent North End target Alex Mowett have been regular scorers in recent weeks. Still lack experience in the side but this will be a far tougher game than the 5-1 hammering the Tykes got earlier on in the season which led to the sacking of their previous manager.

Following our first win for a few weeks our confidence should be higher, whether Pearson or Gallagher will make the side could be touch and go, looking forward to the promising link up play between Johnson and Sinclair. We've sold about 800 tickets so decent size following for a Tuesday night.
