  REDA JOHNSON SACKED
Posted by: Devongone - 12-02-2020, 19:15 - Forum: Eastleigh - No Replies

Eastleigh have sacked Reda Johnson. No reason given.

He was involved in a case years ago concerning the false imprisonment of a woman. No evidence was presented as far as I know and he was exonerated.

He must have done something fairly bad for Eastleigh to get rid on the spot. If it weren't for the huge dark cloud I'd much sooner we had him adding experience to our defence than the departed whale Gerrard.

  It's been 87 long years
Posted by: silverbaggie - 12-02-2020, 16:29 - Forum: Cheltenham - No Replies

Yes folks 87 years since the Robins last won at Carlisle.

Mind you I suspect we weren't often in the same division for many of those years.

Well done the hardy 84 supporters who braved the weather and travelled all that way. A pat on the back from me but, what time did you get home that night??
It must have been worth it though to see Rueben finally playing again and he scored the winning goal too.

So we now have three successive home games all within 10 days of each other and a chance to play one of our re-scheduled games.

And if all that isn't pleasing enough our Gloucestershire rivals appear to have blown up. haha Doh

Looking forward to the Orient game on Saturday. Hope that the referee is a bit more even handed than the one who officiated down in London on the opening day of the season. Rumour has it that the Ref that day was determined to let the 'O's win the match as there was a lot of sympathy due to the then recent demise of Justin Edinburgh who had masterminded promotion from the National league the season before.

Even made sure by 'red carding' two of our players that day. Thumb down Thumb down

Onwards and upwards!!

Why Wednesday 12th Feb 2020?
WTF was wrong with Tuesday 11th?
Old McGalphmiths Farm
By the cows arse that we can now hit regularly with a banjo
HD1 - under the Prima Donna League Floodlights
They'll be switched on so no excuse for getting lost in the dark.

Pre-match Pre-mumble
Town welcome the lads from the capital of The Principality to the green green grass of West Yorkshire on Wednesday night for a game that could solidify Welsh Wales's finest place in mid-table mediocrity or further Town's charge up the table into er, mid-table mediocrity.

Why Wednesday???? Come on, who made this one up? We both played on Saturday, L666ds are away on Tuesday, even the feckwits at West Yorkshires dullest can't have asked for this one to be moved surely? On top of that, at best we're on Murdoch's Red Button so we aren't even being broadcast live on anything that you can get on NowTV either.  Angry

Wales meet again, or who's coat is that jacket?
The numbers are a dwindling. What was once Town South West are now down to (at my way of counting) 4 players. Even Colin has hung up his jock strap - well for now anyway.

Alex Smithies particularly, Danny Ward (for his efforts for Lee Sinnott especially Thumb up), Jazz Richards (maybe) and Sean Morrison (hmmm, very maybe) will likely get a warm welcome back to West Yorkshire on Tuesday night up at the Cedar Court Hotel. What it will be like on Wednesday at McGalphmiths Farm is anyone's guess.

If they leave their coats on the peg, we can drop the jacket off on the way to Swansea, isn't it, a week on Friday, look you.

Latest news
As Snoots mentioned elsewhere, David Webb has been offered his P45 at the end of the season. Given hes's not been here that long we can't blame him for every donkey we've bought/loaned but it seems he doesn't see eye to eye with PH, and PH isn't leaving unless he's keeping the chair warm for someone ...... watch whatever space you like.

Grant and Bacuna are still getting treatment, Grant for picking up an injury from a hug from Schindler in training and Bacuna got a dead-leg against QPR.

Last time out
After conceding 3 early doors at Fulham, Town have now scored 4 without reply. Thumb up  Smartass

If that's a glass half full way of looking at it, it means there's still room to fill the glass up with even more real ale and what's so wrong with that then?

Cardiff on t'other hand, isn't it, were winning at Luton.
[Image: 6PJldgoo3KhqRbdHZpuiT9Kd0HMGyltxL3wsHUKe...77-h361-no]

Their winning goal was scored by a young up and coming chap called Lee Tomlin.
A year ago he went back to Posh on loan. He was a pain the arse to Town while he was still wearing nappies and playing for Posh at Old Trafford a few "weeks" back. Some of you may remember the t-shirt tossing competition that followed that game.

Table
After coming down with us, they are embracing mid-table mediocrity a bit more than we are, but following the January transfer window, things may even up a bit. That said. there's only them, Both Ends and Fulham without a pretty little red square against them in this table.

[Image: UZwURll5NlWRrYA2HoRgIBJcnw7DkbZc9aG8xChE...01-h665-no]

Form
They've only lost once in the last 8 games. They got stuffed 6-1. By QPR? How the hell did that happen?

Innies and Outies
While Town's supporters, managers and hell, even PH himself think we did some good business in January, The Bluebirds Fans are far from over, the disaster they think they can't quite get over. Good job there aren't many cliffs by Cardiff docks.

Extra, Extra, Read all abaht it, look you.

It's been said elsewhere but it can't be missed. We've brought in a slack-handful of better players than we had, not to mention recylcled some that we'd placed in wheelie bins well before Christmas. However, head and shoulders so far above anyone we've brought in and anyone we already had is this kid.

I don't think I'm sticking my neck out too much by saying Smith Rowe is the best kid we've brought in on loan since Ben Chilwell. I said he'd go on to play for England and this kid can't be anywhere but on Southgate's radar for a Three Lions Shirt at some point in the next few years. One run down the left channel on Saturday had him riding tackles and beating 3 players before he ran it a bit too far. Now how many of those challenges would a certain VLP have rode before he threw himself to the turf? I give you a clue, he wouldn't have made it to the 2nd and 3rd one's.

Who's banging 'em in?
[Image: Jk9umcDF7xCkLoEtS7yeAFtrQxsAEyaGK3MHO2L8...76-h306-no]

Well, I've already mentioned Tomlin once, so onto erm, right Danny Ward. He was sat on the bench at Luton. Can't see him tearing us a new one on Wednesday, can you?

Thank you for the music
So I looked on this webshite
https://www.ranker.com/list/cardiff-band.../reference
and I couldn't help thinking they'd missed someone. Someone that's really, really difficult to miss.

Yes, the Tiger from Tiger Bay.

83 year old(ish) at the last count I can find and probably only Tina Turner giving her a run for her money.
The Burley Chassis at Glasto in £3,000 wellies, you can't knock it can you?

Charlotte Church - the angelic voice that thank f**k I missed while I was on missionary duties in Canada. Since she became a er, pop diva shes sung feck hall that's worth giving air play to on here. Meanwhile she seems to have sh@gged her way round the Welsh Coast and beyond with everyone in trousers except Tom Jones.

Budgie? Now I always thought that was Adam Faith, but who can forget the the legendary track, "In the Grip Of a TyreFitters Hands"? That went down great at Kwikfit every Saturday morning in my youth.

Whispering Bob Harris introduced them on OGWT, it takes a few minutes to warm up. A bit like putting a budgie on a bbq tbh.

OGWT? - Ask yer mam.

Dave Edmunds - Welsh? Really? Well I suppose Girls Talk.

There's also people like Cerys Matthews and some band called Los Campesinos! who apparently didn't have a Welshman amongst them, so how tf does that work?

Anyroad, let's hope Cardiff leave singing this one by Duffy.

As that would leave us singing this one by Amen Corner

I bet I've bust the limit for videos again.

Stoke City v Preston North End Bet 365 Stadium 12/2/2020

[Image: bet365-stadium-stoke-city-looking-toward...059311.jpg]

Off to the Bet 365 on Wednesday to play a resurgent Stohe under new manager Michael O'Neill they seem to have found the way to win away from home although have struggled at home although they did win at home against Charlton on Saturday by 3-1.
At the moment they are still under a tranfer embargo can only bring players in when they get players out, as their parachute payment will end this summer there could be major upheaval at the Bet 365.
Speaking of the Bet 365 hopefully this period of windy weather will have died out as the stadium is on top of a hill at the same altitude of Everest base camp. Plenty of warm clothing will be required as well as oxygen masks.
Last season we triumphed 2-0 a repeat of that would be nice but personal view this is a tough game.

After winning in the land of pies suspect he may retotate the squad given we are at playing 3 games in 7 days, still found the playing of Fisher at left back after substituting Hughes odd, Rafferty can feel very unlucky.

Will be there match report some time on Thursday afternoon as sadly work will have to come first.

Stoke 12 PNE 16

Match Officials: Stoke City Away

This Wednesday we have a referee taking charge of his third Preston North End game of the season, but his first away from Deepdale.
The match official for the trip to the Bet365 Stadium, as we take on Michael O’Neill’s Stoke City, is John Brooks, now in his second season on the Select Group Two list of referees.

The Leicestershire ref was in charge of North End’s 3-2 home win over Millwall in December 2018 and the 3-1 home victory over the Potters in front of the Sky Sports cameras back in August 2019, as well as the New Year’s Day clash with Middlesbrough in PR1.
His 22 games so far this season, including a Boxing Day trip to Stoke, when they defeated Sheffield Wednesday 3-2, have produced just 69 cautions and no red cards.
His last game prior to Wednesday was Charlton Athletic’s 2-1 home win over Barnsley last weekend.

He will be assisted by Sam Lewis and James Mainwaring, whilst the fourth official will be Anthony Backhouse.

  Prediction League Results/Tables Week 22

Player Pts CS CR GB BB SB
Zinman 17 1 6 NP 3 0
Derby 16 0 6 5 3 0
Beefy 16 3 3 -3 3 0
St Charles 15 0 5 5 3 1
B.B.B. 14 2 4 -3 3 0
Bomber 14 0 5 5 3 0
A.A.A. 14 1 4 NP 3 1
Themaclad 13 1 4 5 -3 1
Sanjay 13 0 6 NP 3 0

An unusual week of scoring with a record low number of just 4 points separating this weeks highest and lowest scores!! Leading the way this week is Zinman with 17 points, he scored points on 7 games but only had one CS. In joint second spot is Derby and Beefy with 16 points. Both scored on 6 games but even though Beefy scored 3 CS to Derby's none, his inability to get the Gamball correct saw them level on points!! In 4th spot is St Charles on 15 points, no CS kept his score down although he was the only player this week to score points on all his balls!!!

Joint 5th this week saw three players on 14 points. Our league leader BBB managed 2 CS out of the 6 games he scored point on but missing the Gamball hurt his score. Bomber again put in a consistent score with 5 scoring predictions including the Gamball and Bonus Ball. AAA stays in the middle of the pack, scoring on 5 games but not playing the Gamball costing him valuable points!!

In joint 8th place this week is Themaclad and Sanjay on 13 points. Themaclad had a solid score after a bit of a rollercoaster time with his scoring in the past few weeks, gaining points on the Gamball and 4 other games. Sanjay scored points on 6 of the games but his decision to not play the Gamball cost him 3 points and a share of 2nd place instead of joint last!!! Amazing that the two in last place scored on 5 and 6 games respectively, in some weeks that would have seen them easily in the top 3!!

These scores may not change the table much this week with only a 4 point spread top to bottom, but I am sure you have noticed that the top 4 this week represent the bottom 4 in the current PL table, is this a moment of a change of fortunes for some of them??

Cheers
SCO

Snooty 6pts 1CS 5CR -3GB -3BB 0SB
Lady Jane -4pts 0CS 1CR -3GB -3BB 0SB

What a week. We saw the highest total points scored in the season to date, the highest individual score so far (by some distance) and the biggest points gap between top and bottom. The gamball paid off for most and only the scoreball seemed to provide any difficulty in predicting.

One obvious lesson is that Amelia should play with her balls more often. A spectacular week for her with maximums on both the gamball and bonus ball and 9 correct predictions (plus a win for Huddersfield - I hope she bought a lottery ticket). After meandering her way in mid table all season, this massive week may well have opened up the possibility of regaining her place in the Premiership.

22 points would normally be enough for top spot but MightyBrom has to settle for second place, though he will be relieved to get back to form after a poor run lately. 7 correct results and points from both his gamball and bonus will have brought him back into the promotion chase. Long time struggler Stairs also had a good week and was the only player to score on all his balls. He also got 7 results right but with only 1 correct score has to settle for 3rd place.

Joker (or should that be Choker?) was looking good for promotion a few weeks ago, and while 16 points would normally represent a good return, in such a high scoring week he may still find himself out of the top 2. Just a point behind is Baggie_One - a failure on his bonus ball cost him a higher finish. Long time leader Twerton was looking at a relatively poor week until his gamball kicked in but while he is still some way out in front, a few more "Amelia's" may start to make him nervous.

It was a high scoring week for most but not for Snooty and Lady Jane, the only players to lose points on the gamball. Snoots mid-season from appears to have deserted him as he looks to be fading even faster than Leeds, but at least he was in positive territory. No such luck for Lady Jane who had a nightmare week - just 1 correct result and nothing on her balls - maybe time for some lessons from Amelia?

Good footballer BUT lacks a Brain. Lets see what action ( if any) the FA/PL/SPUDS take. None i suspect. If anyone in " normal employment " did this, they would be Sacked or at the very least repremanded.

I'm not sure why youngsters look up to footballers as role models. He is a classic example og a " Role Model" with sh*t for brains.

This is a good fixture for Hibs to move on to after that morale-boosting Scot Cup win that projected Hibs into a decent home Scot Cup quarter-final v ICT. However, action must be taken to "shore up" a still fragile Hibs defence - we must tackle this issue!!! Anyway, on a more positive note, it will be good to see Hibs revised front line taking on the Staggies in what I hope will be an expansive game of footie that will engage our opponents to the extent where we pick up the full 3 pts. C'mon Hibs!

LAST MATCH

Well, we didn't lose, but its more points dropped against the dross of this division. All the new boys started and it was one of them, Windass, who gave us the lead with a right foot stike. The lead only lasted 8 minutes as Dawson cleared straight to there striker who finished well from 35 yards into a empty net Doh Onto the 2nd half and we had a few chances with Cruz having the best but yet again the  performance wasn't good enough, that's 1 point out of a possible 9 against teams who were 2nd bottom Thumb down  Thumb down  Thumb down How we go on against the team at the bottom table, I dread to think.

THE MATCH

Next up and an "easy" game against bottom of the table Luton. The Hatters have won once in about 12 games and that was against Derby. They have the worst defence in the league conceding 66 goals so far. We beat these 1-0 at Hillsborough earlier in the season so will be looking to double them up. Graeme Jones is the manager and they are another team with no real standout names. They are 9 points away from from safety and even a up turn in form might not see them survive, although they will probably beat us with ease Doh  Doh  Doh

HTAFC Prediction League 2019/20 Matchday 29
Posted by: Lord Snooty - 10-02-2020, 11:33 - Forum: Huddersfield Town - Replies (16)

2 points for a correct result
4 points for a correct score
2 points for each correct scorer
Correct joker doubles your score   Laugh
Wrong joker result gives you minus 2
Correct Random Badger gives you 2 points Badger

The random badger Badger is used for any random prediction used once in each matchday sequence. For instance, a scorer at a particular match, the number of red cards in the matches or yellow cards or own goals or owt you want really within reason, I do need to be able to check whether it's correct or not. Please don't put stuff like....."Commentator says...."  Rolleyes
The joker  Laugh is played for one match in each sequence and if correct you get double points. So if you've predicted 1-0 and it finishes 2-0, you get 4 pts, but if you've predicted 2-0, that's 8 pts. But if you get it wrong, it's minus 2.
Jokers and badgers are optional. You don't have to play one if you don't want.

Cup games:
In the event of a draw, it's half the points if you've predicted a draw when it gets to 90 mins and the full points if it's still a draw after extra time. Half the points will be awarded for correctly predicting the winner of the match if it goes to penalties.

Random score generator: I will be using the random score generator again for those who miss predicting, so we shouldn't get some people too far behind that after missing a couple of weeks they lose all interest, because I know it's not easy getting on here every week.
To be fair to everybody, this is going to be like, say if three people in one week miss their predictions, the first one in the table will be given all 0-0, the second one down the line will get 1-0 and the third will get 0-1 and so on, like if there's four missing the 4th will get 1-1, then 5th 2-1, 6th 1-2. and if there are so many missing, might as well pack in. Wink
And if you miss two weeks on the trot, I'll stop until you come back on again. Not doing it for half a season like I did t'other year.  Rolleyes
