BLACKBURN IMPORTS

They have brought in three keepers Kaminski being the first choice of the three, Ayala on a free, Douglas from Leeds on loan and 12 year old Harvey Elliott on loan from the bin dippers

MACS VIEW

A local derby against the odd folk from East Lancashire, apparently having won their first couple of games scoring tons of goals they were going to regain their place at the top table of English football, they are now below in the table to a side who lost it's first six home games of the season, us.
Bizarrely if we had had a decnt home record we actually could have been top lying only 8 points from pole position.
Rovers have the top scorer in the division in Adam Armstrong they want £30 million for him, had the chance to sign for us but was obviously given wrong advice by his agent his loss not ours.
Still without Bradley Dack following his cruciate injury at the back end of last year, they have some decent players, always rated Brereton, lads got some pace and had scored against us for Forest a few seasons back. Ayala tends to score against us, usually at the back post.
Would be nice to send happy Tony home complaining as he tends to do when they lose.
Pearson to return after his brief appearence as substitute, Browne may be back after the Covid's and may see Harrop on the bench after his knock in the bounce game against the six fingered ones last week.
Off all the games we have played since lockdown this is the one which will bring home the absence of fans, would have been pushing close to 20,000 however it wll be an empty stadium.

LAST MATCH

TP first game in charge didn't quite go to plan as we were down to ten men after just 17 minutes as Windass went in high though not maliciously and got sent off. Neither team troubled the keeper for the rest of the first half. The only goal of the game came when Westwood for some reason punched instead of catching and the ball went straight to a Preston player who finished past Westwood. Again neither keeper were tested after that and Pulis reign started with a defeat.

THE MATCH

Next up and a trip Wales to take on Swansea. The Swans have made a good start to the season and currently lie in 4th place with only 2 defeats in the league. They have now won 3 straight home games, so a tough match awaits though Toytown only lost 1-0 on Saturday. They are managed by Steve Cooper who will be looking to get the Swans back to the PL. They still a few players from there PL days incl Kyle Naughton who used to play for the Blunts.

HTAFC Prediction League 2020/21 Matchday 13
Posted by: Lord Snooty - 22-11-2020, 23:41 - Forum: Huddersfield Town - Replies (15)

2 points for a correct result
4 points for a correct score
2 points for each correct scorer
Correct joker doubles your score   Laugh
Wrong joker result gives you minus 2
Correct Random Badger gives you 2 points Badger

The random badger Badger is used for any random prediction used once in each matchday sequence. For instance, a scorer at a particular match, the number of red cards in the matches or yellow cards or own goals or owt you want really within reason, I do need to be able to check whether it's correct or not. Please don't put stuff like....."Commentator says...."  Rolleyes
The joker  Laugh is played for one match in each sequence and if correct you get double points. So if you've predicted 1-0 and it finishes 2-0, you get 4 pts, but if you've predicted 2-0, that's 8 pts. But if you get it wrong, it's minus 2.
Jokers and badgers are optional. You don't have to play one if you don't want.

Cup games:
In the event of a draw, it's half the points if you've predicted a draw when it gets to 90 mins and the full points if it's still a draw after extra time. Half the points will be awarded for correctly predicting the winner of the match if it goes to penalties.

Random score generator: I will be using the random score generator again for those who miss predicting, so we shouldn't get some people too far behind that after missing a couple of weeks they lose all interest, because I know it's not easy getting on here every week.
To be fair to everybody, this is going to be like, say if three people in one week miss their predictions, the first one in the table will be given all 0-0, the second one down the line will get 1-0 and the third will get 0-1 and so on, like if there's four missing the 4th will get 1-1, then 5th 2-1, 6th 1-2. and if there are so many missing, might as well pack in. Wink
And if you miss two weeks on the trot, I'll stop until you come back on again. Not doing it for half a season like I did t'other year.  Rolleyes

Who is this guy called Og
Posted by: silverbaggie - 22-11-2020, 10:02 - Forum: Cheltenham - No Replies

The answer is I don't know but he is second in our goal scoring lists.

A game of two halves definitely.
First half the Saddlers really in charge as they bossed the game and, although awarded no less than 7 corners, they were unable to score the goal that their performance deserved. So 0-0 at half time with both sides having hit the woodwork.

Total change as the second half began with the Robins starting brightly and on the front foot. Four minutes in and a ball in from the left saw several players rising to meet it. Walsall's Scarr got the touch and deflected it into his own net. That's the fourth time this season that the opposition have conceded an own goal. Amazing!

Encouraged by this stroke of luck the Robins took control and just eight minutes later Matty Blair added a second from close range; his first goal for the Club. The Saddlers tried hard to get back into the game and, as in the first half, were awarded a string of corners but, to no avail.
The game was finally wrapped up just two minutes from time when Ben Tozer, so often the player providing the chances for others, added a third.
With Cambridge's game called off due to Covid, this win puts the Robins, at least for the time being, in second place.

Giddy heights indeed. COYR. Big Grin

Rangers declare a £16M annual loss this time around!

Remember the £11M annual loss last year, and just like 2019, I must reiterate their accumulative debt/loss is massive and far more than these recent losses - IT MUST BE ONE OF THE WORST KEPT SECRETS IN SCOTTISH FOOTIE AND YET THEY KEEP ACTING AS IF THIS MASSIVE DEBT DISNAE EXIST AND THEY CONTINUE OPERATING AS THOUGH ALL IS HUNKY DORY AND THEIR BIG CLUB STATUS PREVAILS REGARDLESS - A TOTAL CON AND YET NOBODY WANTS TO DEBATE THIS IN THE MEDIA ETC!! Sevco and deja vu anybody??????????

  GUESS WHO?
Posted by: Devongone - 20-11-2020, 18:47 - Forum: Chesterfield - No Replies

He's 6'2" and once scored 6 goals in 11 games for England U-19. Alan Shearer handed him at trophy when manager at Newcastle United as most promising player and he was picked in the first team.

He's now 29 and has scored only 24 goals during his entire EFL and Premiership career. He's playing for Spalding United. Scored on his debut. He'd almost certainly do a good job for any lower league side prepared to take a real punt that they could keep him somewhere near the straight and narrow.

But he has been a very bad boy indeed and the police always have an eye out for him:-

In 2007, at the age of 15, sentenced to 11 weeks in a Young Offenders Institute after being convicted of participating in street robbery in Muswell Hill, London.

In May 2011 questioned by Newcastle after posing with a replica gun in a photograph.

On 27 August 2011, he was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a man in Newcastle city centre, leaving the victim unconscious in the street. He was subsequently dropped to Newcastle United's reserve team. He was found not guilty of the charge in October 2012.

In October 2011 he was charged with being drunk and disorderly in Newcastle's Cathedral Square. The charge came only days after he had been reinstated to Newcastle United's first-team training after a three-month exile in the club's reserves.

In March 2012, he was fined by The FA for making homophobic comments on social networking website Twitter.

In the early hours of 23 September 2012, police were called to a house in Enfield, north London after reports of a disturbance. The front door of the property was badly damaged and he was arrested at the scene and later charged with criminal damage. The charge was dropped that November after the court accepted his explanation that he had damaged the door after fearing his girlfriend was being kidnapped.

On 25 January 2013, arrested on suspicion of rape in a Newcastle hotel room. In connection with the same alleged offence charged with rape on 8 July 2013. On 4 March 2014 he was cleared of the charge at Newcastle Crown Court.

On 14 March 2013, charged with common assault after an incident in Newcastle city centre.

On 23 March 2014, arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage to a taxi in Liverpool. He later pleaded guilty to criminal damage and was fined £1,000 and was ordered to pay compensation to the taxi driver for breaking a window. Said that he was enraged by being called a rapist by the driver.

On 28 April 2014, charged with criminal damage after an incident at a block of flats in Swindon on 13 April. He was later fined for damage to the door of his flat in relation to this incident which was captured on CCTV, in an incident where he additionally appeared to strike his female companion three times in the face.

In May 2014, found not guilty of being drunk in charge of his vehicle, after being found asleep in the driver's seat of his car on the M4 motorway.

In December 2016, charged with conspiracy to defraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering, in respect of offences alleged to have been committed in February 2015. In January 2017, he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud at Wood Green Crown Court. On 23 May 2017, he was sentenced to eight months in prison.

On 11 August 2017, he was released after 10 weeks of his sentence due to "his consistently excellent custodial behaviour", remaining under curfew for the next five weeks.

SO I ASSUME YOU'VE GUESSED WHO HE IS BY NOW - NILE RANGER.

If I said we'd just signed him you'd have a breakdown. We haven't. The question is do you believe in redemption? He loves football. There's a good boy somewhere in there trying to struggle out of the image he's created for himself. If someone at our level believed in him and gave him a chance he probably could still rip teams apart. I'd love to see it happen and have him make news for all the right reasons, but his bad boy record, missing a few training sessions then walking out on football altogether have scared everyone off, until Spalding's manager held out his hand that is. Not surprisingly it is a black hand. There aren't that many black managers to take that chance. I wish I had the courage to say we should sign him. There are too many lives that go nowhere. Nile has been the author his own destruction all the way down the line, as you might say, but I wish he'd pick up a pen and start writing himself a new and better chapter, so that a bit bigger club might take a chance.

I'm completely traumatised - I have a funeral this morning and we're leaving church to a recording of some dreadful song about how great Leeds Utd are. Better than staying in there and listening to it, but even so...
It made me wonder, what song (or, ideally of course, Christian hymn) would you want to be carried out to?
