Infuriatingly, a detailed thread I was ready to put up for this match went up in smoke when my laptop crashed mid-post, so it's a lightweight effort done from memory as the FA Cup brings the third Black Country derby of the decade to our doorstep on Sunday morning, delighting vendors of pork scratchings, mild ale and blood-pressure pharmaceuticals everywhere. It's been precisely seventeen years since the last cup tie between the sides - our legendary 3-0 fourth-round win at Molineux was on the same date in 2007 - and you have to go back to February 1949 for the last time the derby was contested with the teams in different divisions (then, as now, Wolves a league above us), so before a ball's even kicked, it's one for the history books.
So much depends on the team selections, and it would be immensely disappointing to see either manager field a weakened XI for such a huge occasion (though Albion are necessarily without Ajayi and Diangana, both at the African Cup of Nations). On paper Wolves are clear favourites on league position alone, together with their current six-match unbeaten streak; nevertheless, we know Albion are strong on home soil this season, are defending the 28-year unbeaten home record against Wolves and have the unpredictability of derby and cup together on our side.
So it's the underdog role for us, and realistically, if we can keep a lid on Pedro Neto and take a draw that keeps honour intact that'll be an excellent result in the circumstances, whatever happens in the subsequent replay. But if the big-money firepower of Wolves prevails on Sunday, so be it; it's not the end of the season or the world. Turn in a good showing and make a game of it, and we can hold our heads high.

Latest:
The winter transfer window starts 1st January and closes 3rd February.
Ryan Mason has a good squad now and so how will he tweak things, to add strength to chase Premier League status.
We are in a far healthier position but are still having to work within severe financial constraints as a result of the mismanagement of the previous ownership.

As hostile as it gets, been a couple of times once by train, the rival factions in formation dancing was a treat to see.
If you get bored of Lowe's attacking football!!!! there is plenty of train action to focus on

FORM GUIDE
LIONS 11 PNE 6
MANAGER
Joe Edwards (born 26 September 1986) is an English professional football manager and former player who is the current head coach of Championship club Millwall.
Playing career
Edwards is a product of Chelsea's youth academy since the age of 8, and worked his way up their youth categories. He was released by the club at the age of 16.[1]
Coaching career
Shortly after being released, Edwards was approached by Neil Bath to join Chelsea's staff in 2004 at the age of 17 and started working on his coaching badges. He initially trained the U8s, and from 2006 to 2014 coached various different youth levels for the club.[2] In 2014 he was appointed the manager of the Chelsea U18s and helped them win 2 consecutive FA Youth Cups.[3] In 2016, he was appointed as loan player manager, and often went out to other clubs to track the development of different loan players, and also exposed him to different managerial styles.[1] On 6 May 2017, he returned to manage the Chelsea U19s and U23s replacing Adi Viveash.[4] In 2017, he was also part of the England U20s backroom staff that helped them win the 2017 Toulon Tournament.[5] In June 2017, he earned his pro license.[6] The following season in 2018, he took the Chelsea U23s to the semifinals for the EFL Trophy, the highest placement so far by a reserve team.[7]
For the 2019–20 season, Edwards was appointed as assistant manager for the first time under Frank Lampard.[8] He remained assistant at Chelsea after Lampard was sacked and Thomas Tuchel was appointed, and was part of the backroom staff as they won the 2020–21 UEFA Champions League.[9] In January 2022, he followed Lampard and was assistant manager with him again at Everton, leaving Chelsea after 27 years associated with the club.[10] In April 2023, he once more returned to Chelsea as assistant under Lampard as he filled in as interim manager. In August 2023, he was appointed as the interim manager for the England U20s.[11] On 6 November 2023, he was appointed as the manager for Championship club Millwall.[12] In his debut game, Edwards led Millwall to a 4–0 win at Sheffield Wednesday, the Lions largest away win in the second tier since 2001.[13]

Who’s Available?
Duane Holmes, Freddie Woodman and Milutin Osmajić are all back involved after missing last Sunday’s match against Leeds United.
Jack Whatmough will be absent through injury again, however he is back training with the group and should be able to return the following weekend at home to Ipswich Town. Ched Evans will also miss out as he looks to strengthen his hamstrings.
Skipper Alan Browne could become the 13th player to reach 400 appearances for PNE this weekend, and would be the second youngest to reach this tally, with only Lee Cartwright doing it sooner.
Opposition Focus
Millwall will be looking to get back on track following three successive defeats, which were preceded by three victories in a row.
Those wins came as part of a five-match unbeaten run which looked to be the turning point for new head coach Joe Edwards, who was appointed in November, following a mixed start to life at The Den.
Edwards – formerly of Chelsea, Everton and England – was left disappointed with their previous outing in a derby day defeat to Queens Park Rangers, saying they weren’t good enough in “pretty much every department”.
A Recent Clash
In the reverse fixture in October 2023, Mads Frøkjær’s early goal was cancelled out by Zian Flemming as the points were shared at Deepdale.
Match Officials
Referee: John Busby
Assistant Referees: Andrew Fox and Ian Cooper

Struggling League Two side Forest Green Rovers have appointed Steve Cotterill as their manager.
The 59-year-old replaces Troy Deeney, who was sacked on 18 January after six games in charge.
Cotterill takes over with the club rooted to the bottom of League Two and facing a battle to preserve their English Football League status.
The Gloucestershire club have not won in their past 12 league games and are six points from safety.
Cotterill has a wealth of experience across the EFL and most recently managed Shrewsbury Town for two and a half years, leaving in June last year.
He spent five years at hometown club Cheltenham Town early in his managerial career, taking them from the Southern League to the Football League for the first time in 1999.
Cotterill also won promotion with Notts County and led Bristol City to the League One and EFL Trophy double in 2015.
His other former clubs include Stoke, Burnley, Portsmouth and Nottingham Forest.
"I'm delighted to welcome Steve Cotterill to FGR. His record speaks for itself with 25 years of experience in all leagues of the EFL, spanning nearly 900 games," said owner Dale Vince.
"Steve knows what it takes and shares our determination to avoid relegation this season. Then build our way back up to League One and looking upward again.
"I'm sure our fans will welcome this appointment and Steve to our club."
Cotterill will take charge of training on Thursday and is expected to be in the dugout for their game against Accrington Stanley.
He becomes Forest Green's sixth manager since June 2022, following Rob Edwards, Ian Burchnall, Duncan Ferguson, David Horseman and Deeney.
Following Deeney's departure, Vince said the club were looking for "experience" in their next boss, after appointing a string of managers who had never managed in the EFL before.
Forest Green have failed to create any stability ever since winning promotion to League One for the first time in 2022 under Edwards, who subsequently left for Watford.
They struggled throughout the campaign in the third tier and were instantly relegated back to League Two.
But the slide has not stopped, with Forest Green winning just four league games so far this season to leave them facing a potential return to the National League.

Huw Jenkins has completed his takeover at Newport County to become the club's majority shareholder and chairman.
The club's Supporters Trust had agreed a sale to Jenkins in September.
The deal has now been sanctioned by the EFL just days ahead of the League Two club's lucrative FA Cup tie with Manchester United.
Former Swansea City chairman Jenkins said: "The main priority from day one is to very quickly get the club back on a better financial footing."
Fans had been warned last summer they did not have the funds to cover this season's budget after losses of £1.2m the previous year.
The ownership change has seen Jenkins invest an initial £500,000 in return for a 52% stake, while also taking over the day-to-day running of the Rodney Parade outfit.

Jenkins says he wants the club to live within its means, and has outlined plans to increase commercial revenue, cut costs and improve relationships with their rugby landlords, the Dragons, while also saying he hoped to be able to add signings to manager Graham Coughlan's squad before the end of the transfer window.
"Nothing much can be achieved in football - especially at this level - if the club is not breaking even or getting near to that - and obviously that has not been the case for the last couple of years," he said.
"The initial challenge was to come in and try and put that right as quick as I can.
"Fighting this battle to be successful and positive in the EFL League Two is much harder when you are just fighting fires paying bills week in week out and not concentrating on the football field.
Jenkins added "he wasn't sure where the club would be" without financial assistance and that the club is in "a much stronger position" than the autumn.

He did, though, admit the club's recent run to the fourth round of the FA Cup has been a significant factor and praised the work of manager Coughlan.
The club had been tipped to struggle to survive this season amid the financial difficulties, and Jenkins said: "It was a difficult period for the club on and off the field and I have nothing but respect for him and admire the great job he has done since the summer to get the club where it is today."
"Quickly bringing the finances to provide stability was important, but secondly providing one or two players to help the current squad move forward between now and May the 31st was important.
"Yes we will do our utmost to make sure one or two things happen between now and the first of February.
"But people must remember they have to be the right players coming into the club at the right time."
Jenkins says he will take an active role in the football side of the business as he returns to frontline football, five years after he stepped down from his role as chairman at Swansea having overseen the club's sale to US investors in 2016.
He spent 17 years at Swansea having been part of a local consortium that saved it from financial difficultly before going on to rise through the divisions to the Premier League and into European football.

"I looked around for some opportunities to get back into football and didn't really find much that I would jump at," he said.
"But there were two things with Newport County, firstly the unique story how the club came through all those struggles to end up where it is today.
"Then having the opportunity to join forces with the Supporters Trust to stabilise the club and hopefully provide some hope and a better future.
"I thought that before I get too old that is something I will put all my effort into, and we will see where we go through over the next few years."
The club's Supporters Trust - who had owned and ran the club since 2015 - will retain a 27% shareholding as part of the agreement, as well as keeping two directors on a new-look board.
The Trust's Shaun Johnson and Park Marks will serve as directors before elections are held, while Peter Madigan, Mark Crook, Mike Everett and Bob Herrin have all stood down from their roles, although the club say "they will continue to assist and advise Huw during the transition."
A statement added: "New board members and staff structure will be confirmed in due course and the Supporters Trust will continue to play a major role in the running of the club."

League One side Shrewsbury Town have re-appointed Paul Hurst as head coach.
The 49-year-old re-joins The Shrews following the dismissal of Matt Taylor, after a run of seven defeats in eight games.
Hurst previously managed the club for 19 months from 2016 to 2018, leading Salop to the League One play-off final in 2018, which they lost to Rotherham.
He left Shrewsbury just three days later to replace Mick McCarthy as boss of Ipswich Town.
However, things did not got to plan as the Tractor Boys won just one of his 15 games in charge before Hurst was sacked after less than five months.
Following his exit from Ipswich, Hurst spent a seven-month spell as boss at Scunthorpe United before he returned to Grimsby Town, where he had started his managerial career, in 2020, guiding them back into the English Football League in 2022 via the National League play-offs.
His second spell at the Mariners ended in October, and he joins Shrewsbury with the Shropshire side sitting in 20th place in the table, four points above the relegation places.
'Long-standing relationship'
Shrewsbury director of football Micky Moore said sacking Taylor was a "tough decision" but he had recommended Hurst, who will bring Chris Doig in as his assistant once more, as the "outstanding candidate" to chairman Roland Wycherley.
"Having managed against Paul since 2009, we have a long-standing relationship," Moore said.
"I have followed his career carefully over the years and the discussions we have held over the last few days have been really positive.
"I look forward to having a great working relationship with both Paul and Chris going forward.
"We are delighted they have decided to return to the football club."
Hurst's first game back in charge is at Northampton on Saturday.

New Hartlepool United boss Kevin Phillips has said he wants to "put smiles on faces".
The ex-England striker, 50, was named as John Askey's successor on Saturday.
Pools were relegated from League Two last season and are seven points above the National League drop zone.
"I think the club needs a bit of a stability now, I think they've had four managers in the past 12 months or so and that's not good for anyone," Phillips told BBC Radio Tees.
"Hopefully I can bring that stability and the excitement back to this football club.
"There's been too much negativity and I could feel it even in the short spell when I met the players.
"I want to put smiles on faces and that comes through setting good standards, playing good football and creating an environment the players love coming in to.
"We want to put bums back on seats and we want fans to be proud of their team. They want to see hard work and that typifies the region. I get that."
Phillips knows the North East well after making his name during a six-year spell with Sunderland, where he scored 116 league goals and won the European Golden Shoe in 1999-00.
After spells coaching at Leicester, Derby and Stoke, he had his first spell in management with South Shields but left in April last year after leading them to promotion to National League North.
Phillips willing to prioritise substance over style
He was in the stands for Saturday's 1-0 win at struggling Ebbsfleet and will have a watching brief for Tuesday's home game against bottom side Kidderminster because of a touchline ban held over from his time with Shields.
Lennie Lawrence and Anthony Sweeney will again take the team for Tuesday's game and stay on as Phillips' assistants after.
Although Phillips says he wants his side to play attractive football, he acknowledged that they may need to be more risk-averse for the conclusion of the current campaign as they look to avoid successive relegations.
"At Shields, I wanted to play out from the back and play through the lines and I wanted pace, energy and leadership qualities. We managed to do that," he said.
"Me coming in here, it's clear that defensively we've been poor. Two clean sheets all season, three after Saturday's result, that's not going to get you anywhere. That's something that has to be addressed.
"I want to play but I get that the squad we've got, low on confidence... sometimes you don't want the ball, you just want to kick it long and fight for second balls.
"If that's going to get us results from now until the end of the season then it might have to stay like that but long-term I want us to play and dominate possession with a purpose.
"Believe me, when players get confident they'll want to get on the ball."
