Livingston v Hibs - Saturday 18 May - ritchiebaby - 17-05-2024

There's a new found optimism amongst Hibs fans ahead of the last match of the season. As far as support is concerned, it should be like a home game for Hibs, who must have a good chance of getting another win under their belt.

All in all, most Hibees will be glad to see the end of this season, only notable because the number of late goals lost. Another welcome points haul will be a decent bonus to claim and perhaps be another feather in SDG's cap.

Livingston v Hibs - Saturday 18 May Doh Rolleyes Try Sunday 19 May

I only noticed after logging on to see the half-time scores! Anyway, the original post still stands and, allied to the fact that I will be bowling all afternoon, will not be updated until late on tomorrow night.

This season can get in the bin.

"Sleep-inducing first half"/"deadest of dead rubbers" - says it all really.

SDG on the game and his readiness for the manager's position
"Both teams didn't want to lose, rather than wanted to win it. Did we do enough to win the game? Maybe, but a point each is probably fair.
I believe I am ready. I'd always back my ability. That's not what matters at the moment, what matters is what the club decide. I've been asked to do a job, which is now done. Over the next few days, we'll find out what's happening. I feel I've gained a lot of experience, always in difficult situations. I've also had the benefit of four different coaching styles. I was learning the whole time, piecing it all together and implementing what a successful Hibs team could look like."

Although SDG states the obvious, he does now have the experience to do a decent job, and should be given serious consideration. Next season will not be the important one with many existing players still under contract, but the following one when these contracts will be ending and big changes lie ahead. The next appointment must be a long-term one with no knee-jerk panic setting in during the first season.

Thank god that's over.

We need to move forward now. I reckon we will end up with someone tied to the Bournemouth academy as head coach with Mackay overseeing things. Although i've heard some fans saying they might give to SDG.

If not we could do a lot worse than Tony Docherty or Steven Robinson who have done a great job at their clubs with less resources than Montgomery had.
