Derby, for a side 3rd place didn't look great today. A few flashes of what they're capable of. They're still missing Will Hughes whom is greatly influential for them.
We had a couple of half chances and a couple of chances that we also squandered. I think the midfield battles and build up play were the main attraction today.
The end product, clearly defined by the shite 0-0 score line.
Mk Dons is yet another Banana skin. Wolves & Cardiff are both going to be very tough games.
Need Turner back and drop Loovens. he needs a break again. His horrendous backpass put Westwood under needless pressure and almost gifted them a goal had they not gone for sheer power and smashed it off the crossbar.

Since the Arsenal win I think we have carried on essentially the same as we were before. We are two places better off and closer to 6th place but have lost ground on the top 5 teams. We continue to do well at home, even if we are not winning easily, Preston and forest before Arsenal, the Village after were similar games. We have picked up points against the top teams (2 draws) but not wins.
On the whole I think we are now pretty much where we hoped to be. None of us really expected top 2, and most of us thought the playoffs would be a real bonus, and for us and about 6 other teams that 6th spot is still a realistic goal. We have some more tough games coming up, but we do every month, so if we can stay in touch with that 6th spot then the work done in the transfer market will probably decide who gets that spot. I think we were short of an everyday, 20 goal striker when we played Arsenal, and even though Joao has scored some goals I still think that's what we are short of more than anything else.

Don't agree about Loovens!! Our best two CH are probably Lees and Turner, but Loovens is a very capable backup to them. We are a bit short after that but I think Sasso would have played today had he been fit, and he hasn't looked too bad when he has played. Hutchinson played well today in that position so that gives us essentially 5 CHs in the squad who can do a job for us. Its just having 3 of them injured at the moment that isn't helping, but that is not likely to be the case much during a season.
As regards Hooper, you are right, he has 4 games to show something more than he has so far. He did ok today but for me sat too deep most of the time and left us with no up top outlet when we needed to clear our lines in the last 10 minutes. I can't see Hooper staying beyond his current loan and I am hoping that we replace him and Nuhiu in the squad in January, although I still think Nuhiu has a role to play in the squad.

We haven't powered on since the Arsenal game that's for sure....more just done enough in some games. That's where we need more quality in attack.
Whether Loovens stays or not depends on what we do with Hutch. If he plays CB with Lees can we get a better defensive midfielder than Hutch ? Or is it easier to get a better CB if Hutch stays midfield. Is there any good players in these positions out there and available ? Birdcutt is a good midfielder on loan at Leeds. If Hutch stays at CB it will raise questions over Loovens, Turner and Sasso also by all accounts Lopez played well in midfield today.
Out attack is still the problem area. We are not getting enough goals out of Wallace, Lee and Bannan. If we got 2 midfield attackers in, one for Wallace, who would you drop between Lee and Bannan. It seems only FF and Joao can score for us, so another striker is needed to. Maybe Matias could come in for Wallace.
If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, you need a team....

I still think Matias could play a big role for us this season and beyond. When he comes back it will be like getting a new player, lets remember I don't think he has played in the same team as Forestieri and Bannan and was playing in the team when we weren't quite gelling.
