THE MATCH - SUNDAY 6TH DECEMBER 2015 1.15PM KO
v ![[Image: 220px-Derby_County_crest.svg.png]](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/4/4a/Derby_County_crest.svg/220px-Derby_County_crest.svg.png)
For me Derby are currently a club we should be trying to emulate. They have built a team over the last couple of seasons to gain promotion, they have not been shy to spend a lot of money to do it and they have managed to fill their ground week in, week out!! Essentially we are a couple of seasons behind them but potentially could still accelerate the process if we are clever with signings and get the most out of the players we have.
Before the start of the season Derby would have probably been in the Top 2 on most peoples predictions, and certainly in the Top 6 of all of them!! They started the season under new manager Paul Clement with a bunch of draws but since then they have lived up to their billing as one of the favorites and currently sit in 3rd place.
This will be the 125th meeting between us with our record being W41 D36 L48, so very even. Our record at Hillsborough though is much better at W29 D19 L12 although the last 10 have seen us only win 1 time back in 2005 and we have now not beaten them in 7 games at S6, losing 4 of them, so its about time we stopped that awful run!!
We first played them in 1891 with a 3-2 win in the FA Cup and since then we have lost 9-0 in 1899, 8-0 in 1927 and 6-0 in 1928!!!!
Last season we drew 0-0, thankfully these highlights are short!!!
THE LAST MATCH
After all the joy at the result and performance that we put in to beat Arsenal in the last round, we went to Stoke with reasonable hopes of getting a result only to fall completely flat. It was probably a combination of our bad performance and Stoke showing their Premier League quality but either way it was a major disappointment!!
Making it worse was the injuries and knocks we picked up that could really affect our run up to Xmas and potentially kill our chances this season. Not sure any of us want to watch the video but here it is:
FUNNY COMMENT FROM LAST MATCH THREAD
Quote from Pei and back to Thurny and his trials and tribulations about his girlfriend:
"And thurny is too busy with his bird. Don't ever use that expression in Newfoundland, where a "bird" = a "prick" as in penis. I once made that mistake and got laughed at by my class.
"
OUR TEAM
So I'll say it, Pei was right about not playing the first team in this one!! We managed to first lose the game and then picked up a few injuries to boot!!
Lees looks the worst but I haven't seen any official announcement of the diagnosis, but Loovens, Lee and Hunt all picked up knocks as well. Westwood, Forestieri and Bannan were all spared the midweek game so hopefully they will come back in and Turner and Matias are not far away from returning. Wouldn't be surprised to see Nuhiu back up front either. Aside from that I would like the team to look like this:
Westwood
Palmer Loovens Turner Pudil
Lee Hutchinson
Bannan Forestieri Matias
Joao
WHO'S THE BASTARD IN THE BLACK
Ref - Graham Scott
Assts - Mark Scholes and Adam Nunn
4th Official - Darren Handley
MS will hopefully give us the skinny on this guy in previous Owls games!!
