Well, I wasn't expecting that at half time.
![]() The result was fortunate in some ways, because I thought both penalties were soft. Also Neves getting injured helped us, because they were not able to dominate the midfield in the same way with Gibbs-White. But fair play to the lads for digging in and hanging on. Bartley in particular made some good contributions 2nd half with headers and blocks. If only he could play with that desire for 90 minutes week in and week out. We were very deep at the end which showcased the need for more legs in midfield. After Neves and Moutinho were withdrawn, I felt we should've picked them off and not simply resorted to hanging on. But I don't think Saywers and Livermore have the fitness or speed to do anything more. Snodgrass looked knackered last 20, which is understandable, but this limited our options for getting out. Overall though, a much needed result that showcases why the manager must be backed. If we can get 3 or 4 more in the Snodgrass mould, we can compete. Somewhat surprisingly, my man of the match today goes to Kieran Gibbs. I expected him to call in sick having to play against Traore, but I thought he did a good job getting really tight with the early tackle. He also did a good job defending Wolves' balls into the box with his body, something I've often criticised his desire to do that in the past. Must be looking for a move ![]()

So the big question who would have took this position right now at the start of the season, 4 points from safety, but beat the dingles?

Wasn't expecting that result, but the effort put in by most today deserved the positive result.
I can't work out what to make of Bartley. His performance in the second half was immense, everything you want from a centre half. That said all the back four were excellent in the second half. I agree about Gibbs putting the performance that someone with his ability and experience should be putting in every week, and Snodgrass is going to offer that bit extra with his commitment. I thought Robinson put in a shift today especially the defensive side of his game, and HRK did what was needed when he came on. I know Pereira scored two (penalties) but I've got to say I thought he looked disinterested and offered little. But all in all, I won't get carried away by this result, but I'm going to have a very happy weekend.

Thats a good win for you guys. Well done.
I'd need to see it again but I didn't think the first was a pk. Wolves really seem to have gone backwards this season.

Well I did at least guess the amount of goals lol! What a difference a win makes to all our days eh? I think this was a must win and I think we really need at least a point from the spam keep chipping away at the points difference is essential.

January 2021. Britain lies in the grip of lockdown. Outside, a frigid wind nudges stray litter through forbidding streets. The pubs and nightclubs sit dark, devoid of Saturday joy. A grey hollowness gnaws at every corner of the empty world. But in the deepest wastes of Lower Gornal, a faint sound pierces the silence.

For me he needs to up his fitness and work rate to prove that he is as a Premier League player. He was good for the first 10 - 15 mins and largely anonymous thereafter, bar the penalty. My doubts about him came last season when he was unable to affect key games. The doubts have continued this year, because he doesn't really look like he's willing to break sweat for the cause. I don't doubt his ability though as he is our most likely player to pick a key pass. He does need to do more though if he wants to be a regular at this level. You're right that Robbo is a great example. Always busts his gut for the case. Worked hard from up top and was smart enough to go down for the penalty. Just a shame he was stretching too much for our best chance so he was unable to pick his spot.

Well slap me in the belly with a big wet halibut! Wasn’t expecting that.
Only just seen the goals and not sure how we got that first pen. But about time we got some luck with VAR. Just need to get in touch with all my Dingle contacts in case they need some support. |
