Well Ashley Carson is only waiting for the dotting of t's and the crossing i's and the money and it'll become real. This week. That's this week, he says. Free I say. Free!

You have to trust the man. There's been no suspicion of dishonesty before. The truth has been whole and transparent throughout. That's the casino business for you. If there's one thing Hollywood has taught us, always trust the men running the casinos. They are men of probity and would have nothing to do with mobsters and shady underworld characters.

Also 3 incoming this week so the manager looks like Pemberton and he hasn't been asleep at the wheel.

The 3 players we are signing are Hollis, Tyson and Denton apparently. Sounds like we will be having the same squad as last season.

Denton is still under contract? From what I saw of Tyson last season I was impressed. Hollis was crap under Sheridan but Hollis and Evans looked solid under Pemberton.

Sounds like he was out of contract. I read this on social media via the Derbyshire Times journalist who reports on the club.

Well if we'd got to sign an older player and one who wasn't actually ours anyway ........ I'd have to go for Jordan Burrow. York released him together with most of their squad, seems like they are starting again in their ambition to regain EFL status - with a new ground too. We released him years ago as not good enough, when many thought he was. He's scored regularly for several teams. He was York's captain. I think his wife still teaches in Chesterfield. Top of National North is little different to bottom of the National itself, so he'd cope at our level. He's pretty certain to score 10-15 any season. He might as well play for us. I don't suspect he'd be a league winner for us, but I can't imagine us being among the challengers anyway. Stockport have got backing and several new players, Yeovil and County will be up there, Stevenage have signed six players last I heard. Dagenham are signing players. Boreham Wood haven't lost the heart of their team yet, despite their cash-flow problems. Barnet are fighting to hold on to Currie to get them up, and Hartlepool are building a team to keep Jeff Stelling happy. So we might as well sign Jordan Burrow, make sure we've got forwards who'll score every week, so we can win enough games to be maybe even mid-table. Nathan Tyson is pretty quick ..... for somebody who is nearly 40! But he is nearly 40.

I'd like to see one or two fresh faces just to brighten the squad up a bit. I keep trying to stress these players aren't that hard to get. Royston Town have grabbed Isaac Galliford? Who? Well apart from being an England C international, last season he was keeping Ricky German out of the team at Hemel Hempstead. It isn't as though we are competing for Jadon Sancho is it? That's why I keep saying sign Cameron Mason as second keeper. He's cheap, fairly local and was keeping clean sheets for fun last season and he's still quite young. We might have the best keeper in the division if he works out ..... and surely we don't want Jalal do we?

Anyway best bet for the new season is Barrow to be relegated - it's just buying money, no risk. Crawley Town for promotion from League Two. Ricky German to top the goal-scoring charts ahead of Eoin Doyle .......... now if that one comes up ...........
