What does anybody else make of that German referee's performance during England's game against Poland?

No wonder there was a flash point as the players left the field at half time. I have rarely seen such biased refereeing.

A total disgrace!! Thumb down Thumb down Angry Thumb down Thumb down

Only saw the last 15 minutes..... funny you should say that, silver, but in that time I actually remarked that it was good to see a ref FOR ONCE not being duped by every dive or every piece of physical contact!
Can't say I noticed any bias during the minutes I saw though Huh

Kalvin Phillips booked very early on for a pretty innocuous challenge and yet several very physical first half Polish challenges went unpunished; indeed the referee often waving play on. The referee eventually started booking Polish players for their over physical approach during the second half. Kamel Glik was an absolute animal throughout the match and has been reported for pinching an English player's neck as the teams went off at halftime. There is, yet again, some evidence of racial abuse which I believe is also being investigated.

You are on the money Silver. Throughout the Euros I thought the standard of refereeing was high. The referee last night was completely bizarre. He got several corner/goal kick decisions wrong in the first half. He booked Kalvin Phillips for an accidental foul. He allowed Glik, who seemed intent on killing someone, to do whatever he liked. In the second half he waved play on when Grealish had so clearly been fouled he pulled up waiting for the whistle - he was clear of the defender, carrying on would have been easier, but it was a clear foul. Players were making errors all over the pitch and the official appeared to be trying to keep up ..........

He'd have got as many decisions right by tossing a coin. It was a very difficult match to referee and normally I have every sympathy for the referee, but this man seemed to delight in adding to the dreadful atmosphere in which the game was played. I'm ashamed I kept watching it.

Maybe this should be a separate thread, although that would give it some sort of platform when it shouldn't even be a subject...
As everyone who is even half decent I'm appalled by (football) racism so am proud that our club is again setting an example:

I gather Robsonkanu won the US tennis. Pretty impressive, and he looks younger than he used to.

I see Blatter and Platini are being prosecuted for fraud in Switzerland, and not before time. Boggles the mind just how crooked they must be to have the *Swiss* charge them with unlawfully enriching themselves at the expense of others. What next? The Russians bang them up for election-fiddling? Saudis do them for human rights violations?

Don't mention election fiddling to that nice Mr Trump; you'll start him off again.

Might even worry Mr Biden if he can stay awake long enough. Whistle
