David Wagner gone

No Manager.
No director of football or whatever his role was.

I think its safe to say the transfer window is now shut as far as HTAFC are concerned, so rebuilding will have to wait until the summer.

Lets just hope the club don't piss about as long as the did the last time the DoF left. Which is why we are probably in such a mess when it came to transfers last summer

BBC reporting.....
Huddersfield have made an enquiry with Borussia Dortmund for coach Jan Siewert to become their new manager.

Siewert, 36, is coach of Dortmund's second team, a role David Wagner held before joining Huddersfield in 2015.

Wagner left as Terriers manager by mutual consent on Monday.

It is not known whether there has been a deal secured for Siewert, although German publication Bild claim a 300,000 euro (£264,000) compensation fee has been agreed.

Huddersfield have said there will not be an announcement on Wagner's successor before Sunday's Premier League game with Manchester City at the John Smith's Stadium and have pledged to take their time to find the right man.

The Terriers have gone 10 games without a win and are eight points from Premier League safety with 16 games of the season remaining.

Siewert succeeded Norwich boss Daniel Farke as manager of Dortmund's second string.

He has managed Rot-Weiss Essen, who play in the fourth tier in Germany, and been assistant manager at Bochum, who are in the second tier.

I can understand why you'd look Siewert. Dortmund do seem to be good at pulling rabbits out of their second team hat.

On the other hand I can't help wondering whether there isn't someone in the equivalent job in England's top two divisions who would be worth a try? And if there isn't .......... what the hell are we doing?

It does seem at the moment when a struggling Premiership club sacks its manager it's either Sam-Allardyce time, or someone promising who is necessarily not in this country. I liked Wagner, but why haven't got one?

Think the big problem is that the bulk of the teams in the english top two divisions are either foreign owned or shall we say a little old fashioned and as such arent really open to taking a chance.

I look at the leagues and see Bournemouth took a punt when they didn't have money on howe and it worked. Derby took a chance on lampard as well as clement, one worked the other just doesnt have it.

Wba tried the old fashioned approach and it failed, they settled on moore after giving him the temp job, he did well and is probably the cheap option too.

I guess the point is not many top teams want to give a chance to a brit but I think its sometimes down to a lack of them in prominent positions, as well as their current clubs not wanting them to leave. I mean lets be theoretical, if you are michael Carrick and youre manure ass man, would you really want to become head honcho at ipswich who dont have the money nor the players?

Think some of it is also down to the men themselves, a little bit too ego centric, not wanting to go to a lower level to prove themselves (not saying carrick is like that, he was just a name)

I think some of the foreign managers like wagner, stendel, farke all view the opportunity as their chance to shine, a brit knows the clubs and probably thinks naa I'm better than that and thinks that their past playing abilities dictate the position the feel they warrant. I believe english football still looks at past playing days as an indicator to being a good manager and that too must stop

Good to see Allardyce agrees with my assessment of his ineptitude when it comes to getting teams to score goals. Smartass
