Sounds like he's very close to the end of the road. Bad heart condition and it's incurable. A great player, manager and thoroughly decent person.
So sorry to hear about it, he was the same age as me I think, that brings it home even more.

Barrow: Farman, Warren (Rooney 86'), Ray, Canavan, Kenlock (Brough 64'), Neal, Gotts (Moyo 64'), Foley (White 81'), Gordon, Kay, Whitfield
Subs: White, Rooney, Brough, Lillis, Moyo, Stevens
Orient: Vigouroux, Happe, Sweeney, Brown, Beckles, Moncur, El Mizouni, Pratley (Clay 55'), Kelman (Drinan 67'), Smyth (Sotiriou 73'), Archibald
Subs: Drinan, Ogie, Clay, Wareham, Sargeant, Sotiriou, Obiero
Orient Scorers Smyth, El Mizouni
Although have been on Holker Street for a few games they were all non league games and always involved Lancaster, this however was the first football league game I had seen them in.
So given the International Break, it was off to Cumbria, I can actualy see barrow from a couple of miles down the road it's about 20 miles away across Morecambe Bay however getting there is a bit more long winded it is about 140 mile round trip. Took t5ge coast road at Ulverston got lost a couple of times in Barrow but eventually rocked up about 90 minutes before kick off.
Flashed my QR code to get into the ground, since my last visit about 10 years ago the only change has been a roof over the end nearest the Town. A decent crowd of 4629 with about 250 hardy souls from London who probably won't get home until bout midnight.
Some experience in the Orient side, Pratley, Moncur and Smyth all having played at a higher level, this promiswed to be a tough task for the home side and so it proved.
For the first 20 minutes the home side were excellent, played soe good passing football and unsetted the Orient defence every time they got the ball. The visitors were all over the shop in that period but Barrow in truth didn't test Vigouroux. Once the initial onslaught had ended Orient began to get a grip on the game. They soaked up pressure and looked dangerous on the break, one run from El Mizouni causing problems.
It was against the run of play that the visitors took the lead but like North End last Saturday you knew what was coming. Archibald who was public enemy number 1 got down the left flank, got into the area ball to Smyth simple finish 1 up.
The second half duly bought visitors time wasting but they could have been out of sight but for two good saves from Farman, the home side had run out of ideas against a defence whic won evry thing in the air, not hard since Barrow had a diminutive forward line.
For a brief period of play he home side went close from a corner(pictured)
![[Image: C220-E948-3209-49-BF-955-D-102-A1-B4-A4139.jpg]](https://i.ibb.co/HKJ1wMz/C220-E948-3209-49-BF-955-D-102-A1-B4-A4139.jpg)
The second came 15 minutes from time the ball was cleared to El Mizouni about 20 yards out, his low drive beat Farman and sealed victory.
The latter stages got a bit tecthy Archibald and Kay tangled both got booked, they clashed again about 30 seconds later looked to be nothing in it although Archibald led on the ground holding his plums, pretty close to it seemed no contact however Kay got a straight red, harsh in my view.
Orient comfortable saw out the 8 minutes of injury time and remain unbeaten and in truth will take a good tem to beat them. For Barrow, Foley ran his heart out in midfield should have got MOM but it went to Whitfield.
Although a set back think Barrow will be there or there abouts at the end of the season.
One joy of the journey home is the hill near Cartmel were you can freewheel at breakneck spell without your foot on the peddle. Decent game but sometimes you have to acknowledge the better side won

The prep for this home match really must be a case of same again, same team if poss Stevie!! The manager has suddenly discovered what looks like a very well balanced Scotland team that can "shift through the gears" to get at their opponents. Tierney is definitely the "kingpin" in this side and I reckon he could play any left sided position and do it exceptionally well. IMO we still have an issue with scoring goals with ease. However, that may be changing as this team keeps evolving and there are so many members of Clarke's player squad who are of a fairly decent standard. We top our group now. Lets stay there eh! C'mon Scotland!

SCO 2pts 0CS 4CR -3GB -3BB 0SB
Minizin 0pts 1CS 2CR -3GB -3BB 0SB
Our champion is back in form with a runaway win this week. Derby amassed 23 points with a maximum return with his balls - correct scores on both the gamball and bonus and an extra scoreball point. Stairs took second place with a respectable 12 points and after a poor start to the season, he's now hit a bit of form with 3 consecutive double figure scores.
After that it was all a bit meh for a change. Snooty, Sanjay and Blue were separated by just 1 point in mid-table - though Sanjay would have done better if only he'd played his gamball - with Zinman very grateful for a maximum on the bonus to spare his blushes.
It gives me no pleasure (i lie, it actually made the weekend a whole lot better!) to see both SCO and Minizin struggling this week. Both had a terrible week with their balls, SCO only managing 2 points (though like Derby he must have been grateful for Wednesday's late comeback even if it wasn't enough to avoid losing the gamball points) while Minizin conjured up his best Zak Crawley impression to score nothing.
Snooty 52
Derby 47
Minizin 44
Stairs 36
SCO 27
Zinman 25
Blue Baggie 23
Sanjay 19
Not surprisingly, Derby's great week sees him leap up the table into 2nd spot behind Snooty with Minizin's brief share of the lead ending with a fall to 3rd. Stairs remains 4th opening a bit of a gap to the rest who are struggling to get started.

Well, well, beam me up Scottie!! It would appear that AAA has found his warp drive and decided to use it, all the rest are left to "Klingon" to his shirt tails as he tries to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations and to boldly go where he has never gone before!!! Yes, he tops the table this week with a Championship season high score of 26 points, a CS on the Gamball and Bonus and scoring on 6 games will do that for you!!
BaggieOne is regaining his form with a good 16 points, like AAA scoring on 6 games but unable to get any CSs. Twerton rounds out the podium places with 9 points, achieved with basically just a maximum on the Gamball.
Dingle, Lady Jane and Amelia all got 4 points with Amelia the only one to score positively on a ball. BBB didn't trouble the scorers and Themaclad has gone backwards on -2.
66 BaggieOne
61 Dingle
55 Themaclad
50 Lady Jane
46 BBB
45 AAA
25 Twerton
12 Amelia
BaggieOne reclaims top spot with Dingle and Themaclad dropping places. Lady Jane remains 4th, BBB drops to 5th and the big mover AAA didn't actually move anywhere but is now just a single point behind BBB. Twerton improved his position a bit and Amelai is still rooted to the bottom.
Cheers

Derby County have appointed Rotherham boss Paul Warne as their new head coach on a four-year deal.
He led the Millers to three promotions to the Championship, but was also relegated from the division three times after taking over in November 2016.
Warne, 49, replaces interim manager Liam Rosenior at the Rams.
His first game in charge of Derby, who are seventh in League One, will be the trip to Cambridge on Saturday, 1 October after the international break.
Warne will be joined at Pride Park by coaches Richie Barker, Matt Hamshaw and Andy Warrington who worked alongside him with the Millers.
He had two spells with the South Yorkshire side as a player before moving on to the club's coaching staff in 2012.
He was initially appointed manager on a caretaker basis in November 2016 when Kenny Jackett resigned before being given the job in April 2017, despite being able to stop them from being relegated to the third tier.
Under his guidance they won promotion straight back to the second tier through the play-offs the next season but were again relegated the following campaign.
They bounced straight back again by finishing in second place in 2019-20 when the League One season was curtailed and decided on a points per game basis because of the coronavirus pandemic.
A draw at Cardiff on the final day of the 2020-21 season again condemned them to relegation, where a win would have sent the Rams down instead, but, once again, Warne led them straight back up in second place.
Rotherham have made a strong start to the Championship season and are in eighth place with 14 points from their first nine matches.
Rosenior helped 'stabilise club'
Former assistant manager Rosenior was made interim boss in June after ex-England captain Wayne Rooney resigned following a turbulent period for the Rams.
Derby were deducted 21 points at the start of the 2021-22 season after entering administration and suffered relegation from the Championship amid uncertainty about their future.
Liam Rosenior's interim spell at Derby was his first role in management
Local businessman David Clowes eventually completed a takeover of the beleaguered club on 1 July but by then Rooney had quit.
The 38-year-old was placed in interim charge and helped rebuild the side with a recruitment drive that saw the Rams bring in 14 new players, having previously only had five contracted players.
He lost just three of his 12 games in charge but Derby have now turned to a manager who has three League One promotions on his CV.
"On behalf of everyone at Pride Park, we would like to thank Liam for all his efforts during an incredibly difficult period and in helping to stabilise the club under new ownership," a Derby statement said.
"There can be no doubting Liam's hard work and dedication and he undoubtedly has a huge future in management. At this time, however, we believe the time is right to make a transition in terms of leadership and progress on the pitch."

Liam Rosenior has been relieved of his duties as interim manager at Derby.
It is understood Rosenior is still employed by the club but the Rams are now searching for a permanent successor to Wayne Rooney.
The 38-year-old was given the job on a temporary basis following Rooney's decision to quit in the summer after their relegation to League One.
Rosenior's final game in charge of the club saw them come from behind to beat Wycombe 2-1 on Saturday.
The Rams are currently seventh in the third tier with 14 points from nine matches, seven points behind leaders Ipswich Town.
Rosenior initially joined the club as a coach under Philip Cocu in July 2019 before stepping up to become Rooney's assistant in January 2021.
Derby were deducted 21 points at the start of the 2021-22 season after entering administration and suffered relegation from the Championship amid uncertainty about the club's future.
Local businessman David Clowes eventually completed a takeover of the beleaguered club on 1 July but by then Rooney had resigned.
Rosenior was placed in interim charge and helped rebuild the side with a recruitment drive that saw the Rams bring in 14 new players, having previously only had five contracted players.
But the new owner always intended to take a thorough look at the club and despite Rosenior losing just three of his 12 games in charge in all competitions, Clowes has now decided to look elsewhere for a permanent manager.
It is understood Rotherham boss Paul Warne is someone who interests the Derby hierarchy, although he is also being linked with vacancies at Cardiff and Huddersfield.

Colchester United technical director and former boss Steve Ball will lead an interim management team following the sacking of head coach Wayne Brown.
Ball will be assisted by head of recruitment Ross Embleton and under-18s coach Elliot Ward until the League Two U's appoint a new head coach.
Brown was sacked on Sunday after a run of five defeats in their opening nine games of the season.
Ball left as U's boss in February 2021 after 13 games without a win.
He re-joined the club as technical director this summer but has told the club he is not interested in taking permanent charge for a second time.
"Steve has ruled himself out of the process of taking the role past this period and will return to his role as technical director when a new first team head coach is appointed," U's sporting director Dmitri Halajko said.
Halajko added that the recruitment process to replace Brown "has already started" for a head coach who can "take the club forward".
"It's a very important appointment so we must be thorough. However, we will also be working extremely hard to make the right choice as smoothly and as quickly as possible," he added.
"We felt that the right thing to do was to put a completely different management team in charge for those games that are to be played whilst we conduct our search."
Halajko also said the fact that Brown's assistant Joe Dunne, under-23s coach David Hussey and goalkeeping coach Darren Smith had not been included in the new interim team "should not be seen as an indication that those staff members have departed the club and will not be involved again in the future".
Ball's first game back in charge will be at home to Rochdale on Saturday.
