Cyrille Regis takes the match ball with a hat-trick, Albion vs Swansea, 5th September 1981
We kick off our February fixtures on Tuesday night with the visit of Swansea, in a week which will be crucial for our slow march to survival. Having wasted the chance for three points against Villa, we could still redeem ourselves and be effectively safe on 34 points by next weekend; or, of course, we could surrender once more and allow ourselves to be dragged back into the dogfight. It doesn't bode well that Swansea are well-rested following their ignominious third round cup exit, and managed to get the better of us in South Wales at Christmas despite the worst showing they've put in against us in years. For Albion, it feels like the matches are coming a lot faster than we can deliver the performances, and that shows no signs of ending any time soon.
A draw would suit us more than Swansea, but with another tough set of fixtures on the way after Newcastle at the weekend, we could do with the full three in the bank. Time to roll those sleeves up again, Albion.
