Brentford v SWFC Match Thread
To be honest I think Antonio is just what England need as a Winger. It's sickening for us really. SG really screwed the pooch.

Not that his form hasn't deserved a call up, but it is further proof that players only get picked from PL Clubs.

It'll be a further kick in the bollocks if he becomes a prolific England player wouldn't it?

The biggest problem for me is that xxxx Shrek is still in the England squad, wasting a space for a talented player.

Big Sam was never going to truly buck the system lets face it.

Antonio deserves his call up for his form and goal scoring for West Ham, he scored again today for them. As regards the rest of the squad, on the whole it picks itself, with only a few spaces up for grabs. I hope he plays Stones and Drinkwater along with the rest of the younger players.

Antonio has been the best English player outside the big five clubs for the last year.

As I have said before, Antonio didn't want to leave Wednesday but SG wanted Stevie May & MM would only sanction it if he raised the money from sales. SG rang Stuart Pearce & offered him Antonio if he paid cash up front. On the Thursday before our opening match, Antonio was still organising tickets for his family for the match at Brighton when SG told him he had no future at SWFC.

Despite claims that we are entitled to a sell on clause, nothing has been received yet according to our accounts.

It was clear that Antonio was a special player at S6 but we used him poorly and allowed him to leave for about £1m. What is he worth now? £10m? £20m? If we had kept Antonio & not bought May, I feel sure we would be better off.

So far this season, he has continued the way he finished last season with one of the best strike rates in the PL with two goals from just five attempts in three matches.

SG selling Antonio for Stevie May ( Where is he now? Still On PNE bench?) is up there with Danny Wilsons management of the Owls.

He was still learning his trade, and doing it within an average Champ team at best. It's no surprise that once he decent players around him, and the gaffer played him in the right position. He's urinating confidence now. I always considered him a rough diamond, the combination of power and pace alone was enough to turn defenders. Now he's being coached by some of the best and you can see it.
Wednesday under Stuart Gray were shit, absolute dross. Antonio was one of a few players whom SG insisted be played out of their natural position. My word we were crap. I think that's when "Sufferday" was invented?

Don't be surprised if at the end of the season Chelsea/Citeh/Liverpool don't drop a 15-20M bid on him.

Just wanted to add that Hutch's headed goal was quality. Showed his Chelsea pedigree there. Had that been Fletcher that score it, many would have said something along the lines of. " See, that's what a top class striker is capable of"

I think May is still recovering from his season ending knee injury that he got last season. At the time it seemed a poor deal, now it looks like the worst one we have done for many years. Of course had May banged in 20 goals it would have been a bit more palatable but there were never any signs that was going to happen. Forest saw what we had, snapped our hand off and before he disappeared into their mire of a squad sold him on for a nice profit to West Ham. Just about sums up SGs reign, uninspiring but just did enough at the time!!
