https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evergrande_Group
Xu Jiayin the owner is worth 8.7 Billion USD..........................6.6 Billion GBP!!!!!
1 Billion looks like this..... £1,000,000,000........yes a Thousand Million
Minority share holder Jack Ma is worth 20.5 Billion USD which is £16.5 Billion pounds
History[edit]
Formerly called the Hengda Group, Evergrande was founded by Xu Jiayin in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou in 1996.
In October 2009 the company raised $722 million in an initial public offering on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.[1]
The group bought football club Guangzhou Evergrande F.C. in 2010 and invested heavily, and under Marcello Lippi they won the 2013 AFC Champions League. The group has a mineral water brand Evergrande Spring (恒大冰泉)[2] and a football tutoring school.
In recent years Chinese property developers like Evergrande and Dalian Wanda have made forays into "alternative, income-generating businesses away from the property market". For example, Evergrande has expanded into solar panels, pig farming, agribusiness, and baby formula
OH MY GOD AND I WAS DISAPPOINTED IT WASN'T THE WANDA GROUP

...just hope we end up with owners that are sympathetic to our club, it's heritage, history etc.
I know it was said on this thread before, but it now looks more certain..........and I'm worried. I really want us to retain our identity and not become a plastic, manufactured club like Chelsea and Man City, with thousands of pseudo supporters and no heart

I have been thinking about this take over and I am thinking as some of you have mentioned before that an announcement will be made early August.
My take on it is that it will be the 1st August or the 8th August because Chinese lucky number is 8 and looking on interweb I found the below information:
No. 8 has long been regarded as the luckiest number in Chinese culture. With pronunciation of 'Ba' in Chinese, no. 8 sounds similar to the word 'Fa', which means to make a fortune. It contains meanings of prosperity, success and high social status too, so all business men favor it very much.
Let's hope it's done soon if its going to happen.

Ho, Ho, Ho, I see that the Dingles have sacked Kenny 'The Saint' Jacket - the Dingle Savoir.
Maybe, just maybe, we will have the same luck if we are taken over by the Chinese and 'Clueless' Pulis is posted his P45. How sweet would that be ?
I had an e-mail from the ticket office this week asking why I hadn't renewed my season ticket of many years - an easy one word reply was sent - PULIS.

Well there goes part 1 of my theory re the Chinese Lucky number 8............... maybe it will happen on 8th August then. Times moving on and as per normal at news desk WBA there is tumbleweed blowing around.
One signing, No news on Takeover and A 0-0 draw with Plymouth and a 2-1 loss to Non League Torquay Utd.
One frustrated and embarrassed Baggie

Wolves new owner sacked Kenny and then replaced him with...Walter Zenga ffs....one of the biggest clowns currently in football.
Be very careful what you wish for BaggieMan.

Are they waiting for base rate to drop again this week? Pound will drop in value still further and they save a few million?

West Brom takeover: Who is Guochuan Lai?
New West Bromwich Albion owner Guochuan Lai was born in Meizhou, in Guangdong province, China. He is a former general manager of Palm and is currently the chairman of the club's buyer, Yunyi Guokai (Shanghai) Sports Development Co., Ltd.
He also remains a director of a number of Palm’s subsidiaries, including Belt Collins International (HK), Palm Landscape (Hong Kong), Hangzhou Nanyue Palm Landscape Construction and PALM Design Holding.
For nearly two decades, Guochuan assisted with the development of Palm from a regional landscape engineering company to the largest landscaping company in China, covering the complete value chain.
After a successful period as general manager, Guochuan Lai retired in May 2014 to focus on private investment activities in growth areas related to technology and new consumption patterns in China. He has made early stage and growth capital investments in virtual reality, tourism and sports.
In addition to Guochuan’s residual holding of equity in Palm, he has cash resources in excess of the amount required for the investment.
WELCOME TO WBA GUOCHUAN LAI
