I turned up tonight hoping to see Ched and Nolan and was disappointed to find they were absent again.
In fact the whole line up was underwhelming and disappointing considering it was one of the biggest crowds ive seen in ten years of attending this annual fixture. No Hird ,Liddle,Ariyibi,SEB,Mcginn,Mitchell. No trialist ,just same old players plus a few young uns.We tried Ryan Hall, apparently been around as bit but he only lasted half hour.
Ill give the bad points then the good.
Rai Simons was immensely disappointing ,couldnt hold the ball up and nothing he did came off despite trying hard.If he cant do it against Matlock he has no chance in League One.We cannot rely on him as a main striker at the moment.
Good points were the performances of Dimaio ,Graham and Dennis
Thats the second time Ive seen Graham and i like the look of him ,he doesn't waste the ball and looks a fit lad.The problem is we've signed Mcginn in that position.
I said on a previous post that Dennis looks like a goal poacher and he could be just that ,another Steve Norris maybe.

Didn't go last night for one simple reason - hot temperatures don't make a good game of football. It was red hot last night and in a friendly against Matlock just wasn't going to be a barnstorming game of footy.
Interesting re Graham, everybody slagging of the PPP and here we have a player who has seemingly progressed through from there and might make the grade. If he ends up being sold for £1mil in few years there will be eruptions over on Bobs Board.

Didn't go but apparently there were more Chesterfield fans last night than at the Wednesday match. I may go to the Buxton game but at the moment I feel rather disillusioned by the club.

Poor old Matt, what with Chesterfield and The Labour Party relying on 999 Smith for salvation, things are looking bleak.
Go to the Buxton game! At least you might enjoy Buxton.

I really meant Buxton's football team. And they've got the Opera House. And it's the highest town in England, so really Buxton is the icing on everyone's cake.

Buxton have got a good team this year. They went 2-0 up in a friendly against Crewe 1st team before losing 3-2 and they managed to beat Macclesfield's 1st team 2-0. So wouldn't be surprised if they actually beat Chesterfield. There playing Burton's 1st team next week which will be an interesting fixture might go to that as well.

Things do look bleak but got to stay optimistic. Don't like that Smith guy though he believes in privatising certain sectors of the NHS but not surprising seeing how he used to work for Pfizer as a lobbyist.
