That's a fair point MS. You could be right about having Strridge and Barkley back, but woy will play them too negatively, a he does the entire team. I was hoping to try and enjoy playing the underdogs but it is true that the lesser teams have closed the gap over the years, either that or our over paid players have become complacent and apathetic. I think it's a little of both sadly.
I don't believe I will ever see a tournament winning English side in my lifetime, for reasons both professional & political. If we can get past the 'yes men' and the stars that Nike & Adidas want to see on the pitch wearing their products, there may be a semblance of a chance... not until then.
I haven't forgotten what transpired at the world cup like many have either!

Estonia's recent home record is good. They beat Slovenia 1-0 in their last Euro Qualifier (Slovenia have since beaten Switzerland). Last year they drew with Holland in a World Cup qualifier and in 2012, they beat Poland, who last week beat Germany.
We have to avoid the land mines whilst developing players like Barkley, Sturridge, Sterling, Wilshire, Chambers, Stones, Shaw etc. and who knows we might just have a team to take on the world in four years time.

It would be great to see that come to fruition MS. I highly rated a lot of these kids when they played together in the U-21's a few years back under Psycho. Barkley & Shaw showed great future prospect.
It's once the players get to the first team there seems to be issues, I don't feel they play with the freedom they once did, they seem stifled under woys negative, prehistoric tactics.
It's unfair to say it's all woy too really, many England managers have approached the game this way. Sven wasn't all that great by any means, but he did try to get us to play football at least.
With the players we have at our disposal we should be a more attack minded team, take some risks, so what if it doesn't work out? it's better than the same old same old IMO

Problem is if we do go for it and it doesn't work out then the media will hammer the whole set up as per usual!!! To a degree the England manager is always walking a tightrope due to the gutter press that reside in the UK!!

The media & fans over react to one result or one performance.
We had the golden generation & they under achieved due to negative tactics. The latest band of players are not quite as good but with Shaw, Chambers, Stones, Willshire, Barkley, AOC, Walcott & Sturridge, we have the basis of a team that could challenge for championships.
