thats how long i have been supporting our beloved baggies
(yes i am that old)

in a few weeks i turn 51 and im pretty sure that had i not been supporting the Albion
i would be a few wrinkles less

was asked recently why i bother supporting them
My Reply?
"Cos i`m not a glory hunting football supporter, supporting West Bromwich Albion , means everything
i hurt when we lose i celebrate when we win"

I love the club
as for the wrinkles?

no other club can give you them
the ups
the downs
the results when you expect defeat they go and win

in my opinion we have some of the best fans in the country
and im honoured to be one of them

having said all that
i`m expecting us to get beat by Reading

oh the joys

I feel ancient which I am but I have been supporting the Baggies for 60 years now. Still love them no matter what. They have been heroes and villains but they are still Albion and not a "oh they are good must support them team" - ?Chelsea  ? Manchester United. Used to walk up Spon Lane for the matches. Happy days !
Still get to a match now and again.

Slow down there my little sapling!!  You guys certainly don't have a monopoly on ups and downs over the years!!  I have been an Owls fan for about the same length of time as you have supported the Baggies!!  We have spent quite a few years in the Third division, were founding members of the prem, suffered 6 relegations, 5 promotions, one League Cup title, 2 FACup semifinal defeats, one FACup final loss to the same team who also beat us in the League Cup final the same season and were 10 minutes from being wound up in the High Court before Milan Mandaric saved us!!!

The rollercoaster of being a football fan takes a lifetime to ride, but finally at least we are on our way back and I for one hope you can stay in the Prem at least until we can get up there to have some meaningful match thread banter on here!!

Are you sure it's not a splinter group.

Hi St Charles, nice to hear from you again, how is Steve, hope he is well enough to enjoy your resurgence.

Best wishes to him and his family / friends.

Steve is hanging in there, still getting to most games and even though they have told him he only has a few months to live he has even renewed his Season Ticket for next season, hopefully in the Prem, typical optimism from Madsteve!!!  Everyone on the Owls board is hoping we can make it this year for him!!

On that subject, Steve's son Max has set up a Just Giving page to donate to the McMillan Cancer Support charity in honor of his Dad Steve and is performing 12 challenges to be completed in 2016.  I know everyone gives to charities but please see the link to the thread on our board below for details of how you can support this if you want to.
