Not Billy Bassett. (For a split second when I looked at your post I thought you'd got it, though; take that as you will...)

(This post was last modified: 21-08-2015, 20:00 by silverbaggie.)
I can only think of two Albion players who became legends in Europe.
Laurie Cunningham was one and the other:-
possibly Derek Kevan but his goal to games ratio was 173 goals in 291 appearances (more than 1 in 3)
I cannot think of a player who scored a hat trick on his England debut. Presumably this was not at full international level.
Or was the hat-trick during his debut for the Baggies?
There was a Billy Lee who scored 25 goals in 76 matches for the Albion but, apart from that?

The hat-trick was indeed scored on a full England international debut.
As 1996 has no doubt discovered through his Googling, I've been a bit mischievous with my original post. While everything I wrote was true, there's a couple of red herrings in there. To reveal a little bit more...
4. The Europeans who revere this player are mostly anarchists
5. The picture they use to honour him is not actually a picture of the player himself

Yes, Luther Loide Blissett it is! And as they say in Milan, chiunque può essere Luther Blissett, semplicemente adottando il nome Luther Blissett.
