Its a shame about corry and mccabe !! they are both still young , but are they good enough to play in a team that will try and get promoted next season ? no !! so we have to move on , we signed both of these players when our biggest ambition was to stay up !! weve moved on and they havnt shown even a little glimmer of getting even up to pub league standard !!!

My issue is that players don't seem to develop at Wednesday. After three years they are no better than on the day they joined.

Players like Wood, Spurr & Beevers never improved after 50 first team starts. Maybe they didn't want to improve but there is a pattern that we don't coach players to improve. This needs to change.

I don't think its just us not coaching them into better players, both McCabe and Corry have in the past by all accounts turned down loan moves, so have just ended up sat on the bench or not even in the squad every week. Any player not only needs coaching to improve, they need game time at league level as well, and these two turned that down for some reason.

Neither of them will be offered new contracts anyway, so Corry is doing the right thing to get himself some exposure and hope he can find a new club in the summer. Even if he perfroms brilliantly, with the best will in the world he is not a player that will propel us to the Premier League and that is the sort of player we now need.

What team do you have in mind that is going to try and get promoted?

I was trying to point out that we appear to have an endemic problem.

Successive managers have only been interested in the short term & would rather bring in players than develop the players that we already have. I am struggling to think of the last player who has continually improved during his time at S6.

think that's down to the chairmen wanting instant success as well, resulting in the academy being pretty much non-existent (along with scouting networks, coaching staff etc) and no long term plans being in place. Up until about 4 years ago we hardly funded the academy

also, we as a group of fans don't have the patience to wait for people to come through the system. When DJ and MM pushed the academy we were told it could be 5/6 years before we see any players come through, it's only been 3 and, regularly, I see people argue that the academy is a waste of time, we don't see any benefits and we should stop funding it
