I've been to 10 games at Hillsborough and apart from Derby, we do come out of the blocks slow and lethargic.

The midfield stated narrow on stadi too, the Boro wide players did have a lot of space early on.

As MS says, SG is a good coach, not a good manager.

I agree if we want to play with wingers we shouldn't have got rid of Antonio and pissed of Drenthe. And here in lies the main problem with SG. To me he doesn't seem to know what way he wants to play. 442 fair enough but to play that you need wingers. If we want to play a narrow 442 we are to easy to defend against and the players don't know what they are at and get in each others way. You can add May, Afobe, Lavery and Keane have all played on the wing.

SG is to blame for the playes performance at the beginning and the lack of of a plan etc but the players surely must be able to motivate themselves too ?? Do they want to be in the PL with us ?? This should be there motivation and if yes they have choked.

Was Melo or the Vermijl kid in the squad last night ??

If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, you need a team....

Vermijl was a sub.

I take choking to mean that a player on the verge of success just falls apart.

Our players haven't been on the verge of success.

Personally, we look like a rudderless ship.

Don't be surprised if players improve under a new manager.

Antonio is as good as any attacking player in the division without SG holding him back & look at Afobe banging them in without SG consigning him to the wing or the bench.

Ideally, I would like the new guy to look at our players before we let them go for frees because he might see a hidden gem in there somewhere that SG hasn't managed to polish.

Where are we getting this "pissed Drentthe off" from? He is probably on twice (thrice even) what we could have offered and that's the reason
he's abroad and not here.

I think we've just written off this season. The players have looked like they cant be arsed for weeks and now SG looks like he cant be bothered

I played poker with Drenthe. He just wanted to play & feel wanted. He felt that Sg didn't value him & made his mind not to stay when he spent two months on the bench and had to wait in line behind Hallam Hope to get a start.

As with any other loan player, if you are bringing one in then they have to be an improvement to the current players and they should play!! If they are not fit, they shouldn't be brought in in the first place. For Drenthe to wait two months to get a start when we were desperate for some pace and crosses was a typical SG move!!

It was never a good sign when Hope started and he was on the bench v Watford IIRC.

if we could have paid what he's getting in turkey he'd have been back here in a flash, anyone saying different is kidding themselves.
I met him and the team down in Fulham and he was the only one to stop to talk to us all, infact the only one to actually acknowledge us. Really top bloke and was just getting into the swing of things here

Maybe the wages would have been a problem, but it was surely a bigger problem that SG didn't play him for so long!!  He was definitely potentially a player we could have done with!
