Barrow have signed Barnsley forward Andy Dallas on a season-long loan deal.

The 24-year-old Scot scored once in four League One appearances for the Tykes last season after joining from Solihull Moors in July 2023.

He also had loan spells with Scottish Premiership club Kilmarnock and National League side Oldham.

"He has the ability to stretch defences, and technically he can finish off both feet so I'm really looking forward to working with him," boss Stephen Clemence told the club website., external

Meanwhile, veteran midfielder Sam Foley has signed a new one-year deal.

The 37-year-old has made 92 appearances for the Bluebirds over two seasons.

The League Two club have also announced that goalkeeper and goalkeeping coach Josh Lillis will leave at the end of his contract next week after failing to agree terms on a new deal.

Lillis joined the club as back-up in 2020 and has made 15 appearances.

Barrow have signed defender Theo Vassell on a one-year deal.

Vassell, 27, left Salford City this summer after 115 appearances across three years with the Ammies.

The former Gateshead, Port Vale and Wrexham centre-back becomes the Bluebirds' sixth summer signing.

"I'm really excited and looking forward to getting going here at Barrow," Vassell told the club website.

Barrow have signed defenders Ben Jackson and Neo Eccleston from Huddersfield Town.

The League Two side paid an undisclosed fee for 23-year-old left-back Jackson and have agreed a season-long loan deal with Eccleston, 20.

The pair are the seventh and eighth signings of the summer for the Cumbrian club.

Jackson, who featured in 27 matches in the Championship with The Terriers last season, has agreed a three-year deal with Barrow.

The full-back said he was convinced the club can push for the League Two play-offs this season.

"I saw it as a good opportunity to come and play football in a team where the ambition is the get promoted and be in and around the play-offs," Jackson told the club website., external

Eccleston was part of Chelsea's youth setup but is yet to make a first-team appearance for Huddersfield.

"It feels amazing, it feels good to get started, get up here and I can’t wait to make a name for myself," Eccleston said.

Barrow have completed the signing of Chris Stokes on a short-term deal.

The defender, 33, has joined the Bluebirds on an initial five-month contract, having been with Morecambe last season.

Stokes, who has featured in pre-season for Barrow, has played more than 400 games in his career for clubs including Coventry City, Forest Green Rovers and Kilmarnock.

"It’s a great club to be at so when it came up it was an exciting opportunity for myself," he told the club's website, external.

Barrow have signed free-agent winger Charlie Kirk on a deal until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old had been without a club since the summer, having been released by Crewe Alexandra.

He played more than 200 times for the League Two side and has also had spells on loan at Charlton Athletic and Burton Albion.

Kirk has been training with the Cumbrian side for the past few weeks.

"I’ve really enjoyed being back training as I’ve not done a lot for the past three or four months, so to get back into a club, with a club like this, is everything, and I’m very happy," he told the club website.

Barrow club captain Niall Canavan has agreed a new contract to stay with the club until the summer of 2026.

Canavan had a deal until the end of this season, but he has now signed on for one more year.

The central defender, 33, joined Barrow from fellow League Two side Bradford City in January 2022 and has gone on to play 123 times for the Bluebirds.

He told the club's website, external: "I’m really happy to get it all sorted ahead of time and to get that solidarity and stability, and I’m just looking forward to continuing moving forward with the club.”

Barrow have finished ninth and eighth in Canavan's two full seasons with the club, helping to re-establish themselves in the EFL after nearly half a century out of it.

And the captain admits that the club has come to play a huge part in his life.

"When I first came in, I needed a change from what I had, I needed a fresh challenge," he added.

"It’s provided everything I was looking for at the time and the longer I’ve been here, the more it’s been built into my life and my family’s life."

Barrow defender Chris Stokes will leave the club when his contract ends on 5 January but the Bluebirds have announced the loan signing of Kyle Cameron from Notts County.

Stokes joined Barrow last summer and made 12 starts in the league, most recently at Tranmere last weekend.

He will be available to face Harrogate on Saturday as they look to improve on a run of two wins in their last 16 League Two games.

Centre-back Cameron spent the first half of the season on loan at Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone with his last appearance coming in a 4-0 defeat by Celtic last Sunday.

He will remain with Barrow until the end of the League Two campaign.

Manager Stephen Clemence said of Stokes: "He's been a model professional and someone I have a lot of respect for."

Barrow have signed Stevenage striker Aaron Pressley and Blackburn Rovers defender Leo Duru on loan until the end of the season.

Pressley, 23, who is the son of former Scotland international Steven, started his career in Aston Villa's academy.

He made his senior debut for Brentford at the age of 18 in January 2021 and joined Boro in August 2023.

Duru, 19, has made three appearances for Rovers this season and has represented USA at Under-20 level.

Both players could feature for the Bluebirds in their League Two trip to Port Vale on Saturday.

Barrow have signed Bradford City forward Tyler Smith on loan until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old previously had a loan spell with the Holker Street side from Sheffield United in 2018-19 and scored 10 goals in 23 National League appearances.

He joined the Bantams from Hull City in June 2023 and has made 43 appearances in League Two but has not featured since 26 October.

"I think looking back, I had the best time of my career when I was here, so I'm happy to be back, and I can't wait to get back on the pitch," Smith told the club website., external

Barrow have signed midfielder MJ Williams from fellow League Two side MK Dons on a two-and-a-half-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 29-year-old joins having played 59 games and scored two goals during an 18-month spell in Milton Keynes.

Williams came through Liverpool's academy and made one first team appearance for the club before joining Rochdale and later Blackpool and Bolton.

"Thinking back to last season, I played against Barrow twice, and they were both really difficult games," Williams said.

"You know that when you come to Barrow, it's a tough place to come, so I'm looking forward to being a part of the home side now and getting in front of the fans and showing them what I can do."
