Chuffed with the Johnston deal.

Never thought in a million years we would be able to keep him after his form last year. At times, it felt like he single handily dragged us into the playoffs. Honestly can't get my head around how we've managed to get him for £3m given his age and quality, when players who were not as good have been going for 8 figures. If he can repeat last years form, we've got every chance of being back up there. Worst case, we have a £10m+ asset on our hands.

I've been very critical of our transfer policy for years - probably since the Tony Pulis era - but I think our wheeling and dealing has been excellent this summer.

Obviously the window isn't closed so there's still time to lose players, but the fact we've been able to move on worthless lower league dross like Townsend and Thomas-Asante for money and use that to sign quality like Johnston is excellent work.

I think Racic is an excellent loan signing to replace Yokuslu. And while I don't know a lot about Heggem, Cole and Frabotta, I'd be gobsmacked if they're not at least as good as Townsend, Reach, BTA and the like. Lewis Dobbin who hasn't been mentioned much comes with some Premier League pedigree despite being only 21, while Diakite looks like more than adequate squad cover based on what we've seen so far.

Ideally we could do with a bit more cover at right back and up top, but I think that bar a lot of departures at the 11th hour, our squad looks stronger than last year despite us being skint.

I have to say no respect for Ivan Toney for his greed over football move to Saudi.

Sky sports …. Albion sign Holgate … season long loan.

No mention of any departures …. If Tom has stayed I would say a great window.
Dead wood out …. Fresh talent in.

COME ON YOU BAGGIES.

Well I have to say what a brilliant transfer window for Albion given we are supposedly very restricted etc.

The new owner and the manager plus team deserve huge respect for what they have achieved.

Let’s just see what now happens on the pitch. So long as we do not get plagued with injuries again this should be a very strong squad.

Carlos spoke about the need for a utility player at the back and Holgate certainly fits that mould.

I liked him a lot at right back / wing back in his previous stint, despite the fact he's spent most of his career at centre half.

I remember he looked genuinely gutted when Villa mugged us in the playoffs that year. It feels like the situation with him is similar to Johnston, in that his relationship with the club has brought him back, despite having other options on the table. I guess both feel like they have unfinished business after playoff heartache.

Had he arrived a year ago, I'd say he walks straight into the first XI at right back. Now though, I'm not too sure, as Furlong is probably the most improved player under Corberan. However, what we will see is genuine competition in the right back area for the first time in years. He also gives Corberan the option of 3 at the back, as he's a good ball player who can easily slot into the right side of a back 3.

I'm not sure how we've pulled off this window given our financial crisis, but it feels like the club have done a good job. We have good cover in every position now and some quality back up. Time will tell, but there's no reason why we shouldn't be up there, especially when a lot of the teams are much weaker than last season.

I’m delighted to hold my hands up and admit I’m a d&@khead!!!!
Got it completely wrong about Fellows going to Ipswich. He’s staying, and we’ve added Johnston along with the experienced Holgate.
Really happy with this window and I have some real hope for this season. New owner stepping up and obviously made the right noises to CC when the so called bigger clubs were sniffing. COYB
