Leicester is a tough ask, FFP issues. Can't see a war chest being opened. Cooper may find it a struggle, good luck to him. IMO he's a good manager.

I think the Tim Iroegbunam situation show exactly why it this day and age the academy compensation system need to be reviewed, Players are 'stolen' for a few hundred thousand, after clubs invest so much time and money into their development, only for another club to reap all the financial benefits from that player. The Tim Iroegbunam move to Everton is being reported as £9 million plus add-ons. If compensation rules are not altered to at least add future sales, clubs will stop investing in academies and the bigger clubs will not want to invest in bringing the very small kids through to the level where their academies start considering a steal.

The rebuild has started with Ousmane Diakite signing today. Free transfer from Hartberg, who finished 5th in the Austrian Bundesliga last season.

Don't know anything about him, but he looks like a big strapping defensive midfielder. He's 23 so a good age and came through the academy at Red Bull Salzburg, who have got a good eye for talent.

Only a 2 year deal, so the club probably think it's a bit of risk, but have an extra year's option in our favour if he comes good.

No idea if he'll be any good or not, but nice to see us acting early, recruiting younger and casting our scouting net wider than we've seen for some time.

I have to say that it’s bloody lovely to see Albion actually open their eyes and broadening their horizon to try to find unknown gems again. I remember the days of Dorrans, Koren, Mulumbu, Yacob, and others being found and made into stars for the club. This is hopefully the beginning of it again.

Tobjorn Heggem also set to join from IF Brommapojkarna (would be a great word in Scrabble) in Sweden. He’s a left footed centre back who can play left back too. In fact he’s played a lot this year as a left back. There’s the Pieters replacement.

Just thought I’d poke my head in again and see what’s happening on here. I didn’t realise that it’s been almost 2 years since my last post!

I’ve had a look and Heggem is currently managed by Olof Mellberg. That’s not a bad tutor for him! I’ve also had a look into Diakite and it looks like he’s a ‘proper’ defensive midfielder, playing as the deepest in Hartberg’s midfield. I don’t see him and Yokuslu playing together much, but it would be like playing against a Viking shield wall in midfield!
