I live in the Scottish Borders and we have a number of small breweries locally; the best is definitely the Tempest brewery just outside Melrose. When I first moved to Scotland in 1981, it was a real desert for beer (the usual Scottish & Newcastle and Tennents and little else) but, along with the rest of the UK, there has been a growth in small independent breweries....and, of course, we've given the world Brewdog
Growing up in Birmingham, as TalkSaft says, it was either M&B or Ansells, with the occasional Banks's if we ventured beyond B71. Since moving away, ironically, I've discovered Holdens, Bathams and Enville, solely by stacking the car up when I drive home to see family. If I had to pick one, it would have to be Bathams......nectar!

That’s just a couple of miles down the road from me (I live in Peebles) and I would say the beer is excellent, worth a visit- sadly I don’t think they’re brewing cider, Spen

This will get you buzzing......
Who's your favourite singers/bands etc?
(I don't recognise hardly any current sounds because they all seem bloody awful to me. (I sound like my Old Man now!) But is there anything decent on the music scene worth mentioning? I'll get Alexa to play them .....Otherwise just give your favourite all-time acts.)
Start every day off with a smile and get it over with

Those acquainted with my signatures on here through the years will be aware I'm a long-time devotee of the misanthropic ramblings of Half Man Half Biscuit:
The Gaslight Anthem also had a reunion last year, so probably count as a "current" band again; Springsteen is an all-time favourite for me, so their sound (which is massively indebted to the Boss) ticks all the boxes:
Brian Fallon, the singer of The Gaslight Anthem, also had a decent solo career while the band was kicking its heels...

...as well as forming side projects like The Horrible Crowes:
And beyond that modern-ish stuff, it goes without saying I could pretty much bury you in an avalanche of stuff like this:
NB: I've done my best with embedding the videos, but the site seems determined not to display some of them whichever link I use, so just click through to YouTube for the missing ones.

I’m with you Ska’d: have seen HMHB more times than I care to remember and they’re always outstanding ( favourite album is still “Achtung Bono”). I’ve also seen Brian Fallon solo as well as the Gaslight Anthem, both were terrific and you’re right about the Springsteen connection- when asked who would replace him in the East Street Band, the Boss always says Brian Fallon.

I've never managed to see either Fallon or The Gaslight Anthem unfortunately, but HMHB always put on a great show and their fondness for playing in Bilston is a plus point. Refusing a helicopter ride to appear on The Word because Tranmere were at home that Friday night is one of the all-time legendary tales of British music.

Don’t see music live, the only live music I’ve seen was Genesis at Wembley 1987, I was at three of the four nights, only watched the first night. It doesn’t really count as I was working and being paid to be there. Previous occupation.
I have a mixed bag of favourites, The Beatles, Buddy Holly, Sharnia Twain, Billy Joel, ABBA. The Baron Knights, Laurie Lingo and the dipsticks (one hit wonder, but love the song). Paper Lace, The Monkees
Okay I am old and a little bit loopy, but then I must be, I support the Albion and it helps too be a bit crackers.
