Anything Else Thread - Salopbaggie - 24-02-2024 I am sure we used to have a thread where general posts could be put, maybe it is still here I did not see it. Anyway popped onto YouTube earlier and on my recommended videos was something I don't remember seeing since going to the game, (an 8th birthday present) and that was the Birmingham City v West Brom 1968 F.A. Cup semi-final from Vile Park. I though someone else may like reminiscing, so here is the URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EvNFWwKrio RE: Anything Else Thread - BaggieSteve - 24-02-2024 (24-02-2024, 12:41)Salopbaggie Wrote: I am sure we used to have a thread where general posts could be put, maybe it is still here I did not see it. Thanks for posting this Salop. I was there but didn’t realise until today it as the day after my 13th birthday……what a brilliant present. Went crazy when Bomber got the second RE: Anything Else Thread - talkSAFT - 24-02-2024 I was there as well at the open Witton End. Great atmosphere! Me and a couple of others met our Blues mates after the match (in The Greyhound, up Town): they were fuming that they deserved to win. Just now is the 1st time I've watched film of the match and it's clearly sour grapes because it was 50:50. But I remember Blues fan Tom Ross saying (1st of all) that Blues were the better team. A couple of years later he said Blues were SO unlucky. A couple of years later he said Blues annihilated us. Couple of years on he said it was the most one-sided match he's EVER seen! I stopped listening to him after that! RE: Anything Else Thread - BaggieSteve - 24-02-2024 (24-02-2024, 14:32)talkSAFT Wrote: I was there as well at the open Witton End. Great atmosphere! Absolute tosh! Blues played well and there was not a lot between the teams, except we could score goals when you have the King and Bomber. Watching those highlights again reminded me of just how good a player was Bobby Hope, wonderful RE: Anything Else Thread - talkSAFT - 24-02-2024 (24-02-2024, 16:41)BaggieSteve Wrote: I was at school in Birmingham and so had the same bleating when I went in on the Monday. Their really strong rough cider was 1s/8d a pint! - can you believe it? That's about 8p!!! We'd usually get through 10/- after every Home game.) Mine was always Brew XI, but sometimes Ansells Bitter (depending how well the landlord kept his beer), and Banks's (when in Black Country). Then, when I moved to Leeds, I loved John Smith's or Tetleys. Now, in Cornwall, I love DoomBar. I was always wary of London beers, when I followed Albion away. Don't know whether they've improved over the years, but I used to have to drink their beer with a 'lemon-top' because it was so flat without any head. ![]() RE: Anything Else Thread - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 26-02-2024 Badger are consistently one of the best breweries whose beers are widely available; Old Golden Hen and Golden Champion are both terrific pale ales weighing in at opposite ends of the strength spectrum, while for autumn and winter drinking you can't beat their Blandford Fly spiced ale and Master Stoat coffee stout. Thornbridge stuff is fantastic too, though they've moved more towards modern craft ale in the last decade and away from proper cask-conditioned stuff. I also miss Hawkshead Brewery from the days when I used to live near the Lakes. I like most stuff brewed with the Citra hop. Badger beers are my local brewery, and I have in the past supplied them with bog rolls - hence my BBB which is Bogroll Baggie Bob. Though I prefer stronger 2 hop beers like Moreland and Old Speckled Hen, though I have many a story to tell about 9% Special brew when cold - though was brought down to 5% for tax reasons, wasn't as good. |
