Aden Flint has signed a new contract extension until June 2025 with high-riding League Two club Mansfield Town.

The 34-year-old defender has been an ever-present for the Stags this season, helping them keep 10 clean sheets - and reach second place in the table.

"I'm really enjoying it here," said the former Bristol City, Middlesbrough and Cardiff City player.

"I love everything about what this club represents. Since I arrived here, I've been made to feel very welcome."

He added: "There's a great unity at this club and a real sense of togetherness and purpose in this squad.

"We're determined to finish the job we've started for the club's supporters and the people of Mansfield."

Mansfield Town defender Alfie Kilgour has agreed a new contract to run to the end of next season.

The 25-year-old has made 24 League Two appearances for the club since arriving from Bristol Rovers in January 2023.

He has, though, been out of action since rupturing an Achilles tendon against Doncaster Rovers last August.

"Watching the squad play with such bravery, commitment and class has filled me with inspiration," Kilgour told the club website.

"I look forward to being back on the pitch, giving my all for the Stags."

Despite his absence, Mansfield are currently third in the table and have only been beaten twice in their 26 games so far.

"Alfie is a consummate professional and will continue to do everything possible to give himself the best chance of recovering from his injury," said boss Nigel Clough.

"We're delighted that he's signed a new deal and are looking forward to seeing Alfie back in pre-season and get him ready for the 2024-25 campaign."

The 30-year-old has scored three goals in 32 appearances for the Gills this season.

Nichols, who has previously played for Exeter, Peterborough and Bristol Rovers, joined Gillingham in January 2023 from Crawley.

He joins an injury-hit Stags squad, with forwards Rhys Oates and James Gale among seven players out.

League One-bound Mansfield Town have released midfielders John-Joe O'Toole and Anthony Hartigan and defender Callum Johnson, while seven other first-team players are discussing new contacts.

Veteran former Sheffield United midfielder Stephen Quinn could remain with the Stags beyond his 39th birthday after opening talks with the club.

Lucas Akins, Ollie Clarke, James Gale, George Maris, Stephen McLaughlin and Rhys Oates are among the host of players Nigel Clough is looking to keep at the One Call Stadium.

Full-back George Williams, 31, has also had a contract extension triggered after featuring 25 times in his first season with Mansfield.

Hugely experienced former Watford player O'Toole, 35, and 24-year-old Hartigan, however, both leave the East Midlands club after loan stints away last season, while Johnson's 18 months with the Stags also comes to an end.

Mansfield will play in England's third-tier competition for the first time in 21 years after clinching automatic promotion with a third-placed finish in League Two.

League One-bound Mansfield Town have signed Sheffield Wednesday's Lee Gregory on a one-year deal that sees the striker return to the Stags on a free transfer 13 years after he left Field Mill.

The 35-year-old started his professional career with the Nottinghamshire club, featuring twice for them in the Conference - now known as the National League - in 2010.

He went on to also play non-league football at FC Halifax Town, then moved to Millwall - where he scored 64 goals in 204 league appearances - with stints at Stoke and Derby following before he joined the Owls in the summer of 2021.

Gregory scored just one goal in 15 appearances for the Championship side last term, but had helped the Owls to promotion from League One a season earlier with 11 goals.

He is Mansfield's first signing since the Stags sealed promotion from League Two, ending a 21-year absence from the third tier.

“It’s a club on the up," said Gregory on his return.

"It’s a perfect fit for me, with location factored in too, as well as hearing about the manager and how well he treats his players."

League One-bound Mansfield Town have signed Australia midfielder Keanu Baccus from Scottish Premiership side St Mirren on a two-year deal.

The 25-year-old, who moves to Field Mill on a free transfer, scored three goals in 64 league appearances in his two seasons in Scotland after arriving from Australian top-flight side Western Sydney.

South Africa-born Baccus made his senior Australia debut after joining St Mirren and has gone on to feature 18 time for the Socceroos.

He became the first St Mirren player to feature at a World Cup when at the 2022 tournament in Qatar, where he started against eventual champions Argentina in their narrow round-of-16 defeat.

Mansfield Town midfielder George Maris and strikers Lucas Akins and Rhys Oates have signed new deals with the newly-promoted League One club.

Maris, who was a mainstay of the Stags' promotion from League Two last season with nine goals in 32 appearances, has agreed a fresh two-year contract.

Oates, 29, extends his stay with the club by another year despite having his influence on their promotion-winning campaign curtailed by injury.

He scored five goals in 18 appearances in all competitions last term before undergoing knee surgery.

Akins, 35, was also instrumental in the Stags' success with 14 goals in 49 appearances as they finished third in the table to secure automatic promotion and has also signed for another 12 months.

Left-back Stephen McLaughlin has signed a new one-year deal with League One side Mansfield Town.

The 33-year-old former Nottingham Forest and Southend defender has made 149 appearances in his four seasons with the Stags.

He made 28 appearances in all competitions last season after missing the first three months of the campaign because of a knee injury sustained in April 2023.

He started in their promotion-clinching win against Accrington Stanley on 16 April and scored his only goal of the season as they beat Gillingham days later.

The Irish defender is the fourth promotion-winning player to commit his future to the club in the past two days, with midfielder George Maris and strikers Lucas Akins and Rhys Oates also signing one-year deals.

Mansfield Town midfielder Stephen Quinn has signed a new one-year deal to remain with the club beyond his 39th birthday.

The ex-Sheffield United player, now 38, has made 144 appearances for the Stags in all competitions since initially joining them on loan from Burton in January 2021.

Former Republic of Ireland international Quinn scored four goals in 34 games last season, including Mansfield's second goal in their promotion-sealing win against Accrington Stanley in April.

He is the fifth Stags player to recommit to the club in the past week, following left-back Stephen McLaughlin, midfielder George Maris and strikers Lucas Akins and Rhys Oates.
