Quote:Having departed KRC Genk earlier today, the midfielder playmaker will return for a second spell at the Club as a free agent on a contract that runs until the end of June 2022.

Carel, 23, is no stranger to the Club or Town fans, having impressed during a loan spell from Ajax in the 2020/21 campaign. He scored three goals and recorded three assists in his 23 Sky Bet Championship appearances and was on the shortlist for the division’s ‘Player of the Month’ accolade in December 2020.

He moved permanently to Belgian top-flight side KRC Genk in the summer and has made 19 appearances across the domestic league and cups, Champions League qualifying and in the Europa League.

Carel will now return to HD1 for the rest of the season, pending international clearance, and will take the number 48 shirt for the Terriers!

Town’s Head of Football Operations Leigh Bromby commented:

“Carel’s availability only became apparent towards the very end of this window, so we’re absolutely delighted to get this over the line and to welcome him back to the Club tonight.

“Our fans saw enough of Carel in Town colours to know exactly what he brings on the pitch, and he will be a perfect fit into the fantastic team spirit that we have among the squad this season. He ticks every box.

“We’re well positioned after the first 29 games, and Carel’s arrival caps off what has been a great window for us as we look to add to the squad for the rest of the season.”

Head Coach Carlos Corberán added:

“Carel’s return is very positive news for the Club. We always say ‘once a Terrier, always a Terrier’, and he has shown this feeling in his desire to return and show what he can do on the pitch.

“We saw the skills that he can bring to the team as a number eight or a number six when he was with us last year. He increases our possibilities in the middle of the pitch.

“It was a big pity was that our supporters never got to watch him in person due to the pandemic, and I’m so happy that they will have this opportunity now.”

Eiting. The stunning inter-mid west riding standard kind of bloke that some folks were 'oping" for?

Well that's a decent transfer window.

Blackman- Experienced in EFL football and should provide good back up for LN

Anjorin- exciting young prospect from Chelsea, hoping he has the same impact that Izzy Brown had for us. No pressure lad.

Carel Eiting- A welcome return and a creative midfielder to link defense with attack in the middle of the pitch.

Good work by all at the club.

As for the outgoings, Bilokapic to Hartlepool's will give the lad some good game time and a test against some of the more physical strikers knocking about the lower leagues

Reece Brown- In the running for one our worst ever signings, we obviously don't see whatever the Posh do.

Phillips to Exeter, hopefully they will play him as a striker and give the lad a chance to show what he can do
