Southend Want Rowe

Southend have made a formal approach to take James Rowe as their replacement for Phil Brown. Chesterfield have turned it down.

On the list of clubs not to work for and Chairmen to avoid Southend must feature in the top five.

I think this is a sop to Saafend fans who've just watched us wallop them. Don't think their fans are that gullible.

I don't think Phil Brown is a terrible manager, but he is inexperienced at this level and very slightly mad.
I don't think Southend have a terrible squad.
I do think that what is behind the scenes is also in front of the scenes, & has come on to the pitch. Concede an early goal and all their troubles enter their play and the dissatisfied supporters can't help but make things worse.

They can get good crowds, yet for years have been wrestling with banks and inland revenue. Eventually it told on them and they joined us outside the EFL. Like us they probably should be in EFL Division One.

If James Rowe were daft enough to want to go there, would you want him to stay? I want a manager who doesn't fancy total chaos just because he's bound to look good in comparison .......... Unfortunately like us and Dave Allen Southend won't really improve until the Martin era ends, though in fairness to him I don't think he actually wants them to fail. He'd rather be on track for his bobsleigh fantasy gold medal.

There are other shop windows in which you might be equally unwelcome Dancing.
