Replace in starting 11 - Johnstone, Bartley, Gibbs, Sawyers, Diangana (if he goes), Robinson/Austin

Sell or loan out - Townsend (loan), Barry, Field (loan), Phillips, Zohore, HRK

With Gibbs and Townsend gone who would you play at left back, I agree Gibbs is a potential liability but who would we be able to sign, in who could we attract and afford who is better? With his projected wage of £60k a week we might get someone good on loan, but that would be about it.

Aarón Martín from Mainz, £16,000 a week.
Only sticking point would be the fee. He was worth £20 million last summer but that has dropped since then so maybe the £10 million mark. He lost his place in the Mainz team after Christmas so a loan with a permanent move next summer if we stay up could be also possible.

So what is the issue with him worth £18m Mar 2018: £9m Aug 2018: £18m Mar 2019: £11.7m Mar 2020: £9.45m Apr 2020 (transfermarkt). I am sure there must be a reason and if anyone is going to know its you Thumb up Thumb up

1/4 of the way into last season Mainz sacked their Head Coach Sandro Schwarz and replaced him with Achim Beierlorzer. Schwarz played a 4-3-1-2 formation so Martin, who is very good going forward, had great form playing as almost like a left winger in possession. Beierlorzer came in and changed the shape to a 3-4-1-2 with Martin as the left wing back. Martin lost his place in the team when Beierlorzer changed to a 4-2-3-1 and for whatever reason decided to drop Martin and instead use Brosinski, a right back, at left back. Why Brosinski was picked at left back instead of Martin is still a mystery to me considering Brosinski never looks 100% comfortable there. Beierlorzer does have a habit of making strange decisions like that though. At right back he put Ridle Baku, a centre midfield player who stayed at right back even when it was obvious to me watching that he wasn't comfortable there.

It's like when Pulis chose to play Lescott at left back rather than Pocognoli.

We need to be prudent and go about our business very carefully.
I'm trying to think of any player who came in early in any transfer window?
Holgate and eerrr I cant think of another.
Survive - it's a bigger quetion then our position in the PL.
Wait for other clubs to begin to fold due to lack of funds, that's the survival problem for 75% of clubs atm.

Foster came late July 2011. Gareth MacCauley was signed in May on a free from Ipswich that was a decent signing.
J Rod on the 2nd July was early but there aren’t many I can think of.

Thanks Josh, I am not quite sure that explains his value on Transfermarkt being up and down like a whores draws, but I do not know how they calculate values so it may well do. Big Grin  Thumb up
