But it is the same miracle we've needed since Dave Allen tied us to him with debt. We are not worth the amount we owe. A normal business would be dead in the water.
Even if we could miraculously develop a young player worth £10 million we couldn't get that to clear our debt because every potential buyer would realise we'd have to accept a way lower offer. Euromillions does indeed seem the only hope. I don't buy a ticket until it goes above £30 million, then I could buy Chesterfield and do everything else I want without ever worrying about finances again. £2 million to Orang Utans … same to save the tiger, £1 million for glue for Extinction Rebellion.
Who would want to buy Chesterfield FC? Unless they are a fan or a fan of football. I agree the debt has always been owed to Dave Allen but the debt keeps on increasing. How can the club and clubs like ours survive when big losses are occurring at clubs. People seem to think that Bury was a one off but I believe a lot of other clubs in the Football League and Non-League will go the same way. I agree a normal business would have gone a long time ago.

Wouldn't we have been better off without their intervention and the false hope? In other circumstances they'd have been condemned as time wasters.
If we want to stay up Saturday's game against Fylde looks vital. We've always beaten them when it didn't matter, but I remain doubtful that we can do it when it does.
Pemberton does seem to be opting for a simple, winning strategy and he was unlucky in his treatment at Kidderminster ….. where he apparently drove 50,000 miles scouting out new players for his impoverished club only to be sacked when green shoots of promise began to emerge. If he were prepared to put in such efforts to find us players on the cheap and we adopted that as our way forward I wouldn't mind if our regeneration took place where we are or in the National North. BUT we need something on the field to complement our facilities to attract a buyer so DA can step away.
Good to see you back Dev, hope all is well.
From what I understand the Trust had promises of funding in place to buy the club with borrowings from other sources to fund ongoing budgets. For whatever reason 1 of those secondary funders changed their mind (could have been the figure of JS payoff at circa £150k being added on that scared them).
Hopefully it is just a delay. We wont drop down again with Pemburton at the helm but it wouldnt surprise anybody if we offer the job to somebody else.
Matt,
If the takeover goes through those accounts will be superfluous. The debt to DA will be written off.
That's if a takeover happens Dancing.

If you are coming back to Derbyshire I would do it sooner rather than later. House prices here will rocket once global warming really gets a grip. One positive about that is that it wont take as long to get to the coast. Tupton on Sea has a nice ring to it.

NATHAN TYSON - isn't he older than me? WHAAAAT?
I have to do probate ……. so any move is while away. If it were Chesterfield I've always fancied a little cottage in Holymoorside - just me and the cat. And I've always liked Belper or maybe Ashbourne.

How many players do we have on loan from Notts County now then? 3-4?
Nathan Tyson was a great player when he was at Wycombe and Notts Forest let's hope he can find that form again.
Lot's of good places to live in Derbyshire Dev.

Chesterfield FC Community Trust’s proposed purchase of Chesterfield Football Club is close to completion.
Community Trust chairman Mike Goodwin said: “Detailed business plans are in place after completing due diligence and we are now looking to proceed with the purchase of the football club.
“We are awaiting final confirmation from our funding partners after the funding was agreed in principle.
“I would like to thank Ashley Carson for his valued help and co-operation. Dave Allen’s assistance in helping us get to this stage should also be recognised.”
A further statement will be issued in due course.

Is this for real or is it Sajid Javid's last statement before they bundled him into the back of the white van?

Please Pembo, don't really have said, "As a collective we're starting to move forward."
At least Saturday's game is bound to be off for waterlogging. Maybe that'll give us chance to expunge Pembo's words from history. OMG straight from the playbook of Gary Caldwell Explains Dialectic Materialism.
And Pembo's such a nice-looking guy too, he doesn't deserve those words hanging round his neck like dead albatrosses.
