Aston Villa vs WBA - Match Thread

Where December saw two in-form teams go head to head in a promotion battle, our visit to the Seal Sanctuary this Saturday could be rather more of a desperate affair, as two teams suffering the wobbles try and hold on to their playoff hopes. I think it's fair to say that the honeymoon has now ended for Dean Smith in Witton, as his period of success (which pretty much culminated with their performance at the Hawthorns) has given way to a string of iffy performances. However, since the departure of Harvey Barnes, Albion have been little better. The increasingly impressive performances of Rekeem Harper are a small ray of hope, but don't paper over the cracks of how the goals have dried up. As the Forest match showed, at one end we continue to gift-wrap goals to the opposition on the plate, but scoring them has become a mammoth task.

This could really go any way, and Villa's ability to turn in a performance against us even at their most abject can't be discounted. But if we can replicate what we did at Stoke last week, that would be enough for me.

I think we will lose this, we don't really seem to have a plan and since Barnes has left so has any pace and link between the midfield and attack. .
Hope I'm wrong but Villa for how cap their defending has been have lost only one at home this season and that was to Leeds,

Beefy, cheer yourself up by visiting Heroes and Vile-uns ....... seems most of them are dreading Saturday. Based on their performance last night, there are teams far worse off than we are.

The roller coaster continues. We have to score 3 goals to.win. As they will score one and we will give them another. Think we will be doing a Desmond again. 2 - 2

I'm with Beefy, however $h!t the Villa play all week, they always turn up against us, should be 3-4 to us but I'm going for 2-1 to the vile unfortunately! I said to my old man at Forest, we play better on the road because teams have to have a go at us, if there are 2 banks of 4 or 5, we struggle to break them down, if they press hard we will make mistakes. On the flipside, Johnstone and Barry against their old clubs will have something to prove, i'll take a 6-5 now or a 0-0, either way not looking forward to the sealife on Saturday.

Val, I’m with you on that one! Currently in the States with family so taking the car out and making sure I don’t check the score until we get back after 12 noon. I’m just a coward but it’s unbearable
