Overall, pleasantly surprised with that, as I was expecting a hiding.
Brighton were the better team, but we had some big performers out there who showed a lot of desire. With a bit of fortune, we could've won the game.
Tyrone Mears, for a bloke who is soon to be 36, barely played and largely considered to be here for a 'final pay day' was absolutely superb. To see a bloke of his age showing that sort of desire to defend as he did for the full 90 minutes was outstanding.
2 centre halfs were absolutely solid. Adaraboiyo hasn't been my favourite player since he's arrived, but looks so much better in that role and was probably my man of the match. Shame about the header that hit the post as that would've topped off what was by far his best performance in the shirt.
Field was superb in the middle, considering he had to do a lot of defending. Showed excellent fitness levels for someone who has played so little.
Hoolahan was superb for 60 minutes, before tiring. Like Mears, his desire was fantastic for a player of his age who has played so little. The attitude of these 2 must be tremendous.
It was just a shame we were toothless in the final third really. Leko showed glimpses 2nd half, but looks a bit too raw currently. Edwards showed a few nice moments, but didn't create a lot for an attacking player. The biggest disappointment of all was Robson Kanu, who really does look terribly off form at the moment.
