Brighton vs WBA - FA Cup Fourth Round Match Thread - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 24-01-2019

Having got the job done in a scrappy encounter in Lancashire on Monday night, it's down to the opposite end of the country on Saturday to resume our cup campaign against "the other Albion". With a decent cushion between them and the relegation zone, Brighton may well be taking this encounter seriously, while in contrast, for the Baggies it's likely to be a case of resting key players again. Nevertheless, it's been a long time since Albion have squared up against Brighton as an underdog, and with no real pressure or expectation, an upset might be on the cards.

Express and Dingle expected team to face Brighton

BOND
HOLGATE - TOSIN - BARTLEY - TOWNSEND
HARPER - FIELD - HOOLAHAN
EDWARDS - HRK - LEKO

MYHILL, MEARS, JROD, GAYLE, DAWSON, FITZWATER, ROGERS

With BHA playing 4-5-1 and WBA 4-3-3 I can't see beyond a win for Brighton.

That side to be fair looks young and desperately short of big match experience, it's a shame we wont take it seriously, I understand the league is most important but the cup offers the traditionalists something to get excited about. I cant to be fair see us winning tomorrow, it is a free shot really, narrow loss against a prem team with no injuries or suspensions is probably the best we can hope for! However, this being the Albion (Not Brighton) anything is possible.

If the team that Phil has posted is the one that takes the field, then I hope the young players - of which there are several - really do themselves justice and give Darren Moore something to seriously ponder when he picks the next league squad. I'm thinking particularly of Leko and Edwards.

Match up man for man against Brighton’s system with a double block on our right side with Holgate and Harper. Leko and Gayle working as a duo with pace on the counter.

Johnstone
Holgate - Dawson - Hegazi - Gibbs
Harper - Barry - Field - Edwards
Leko
Gayle

Josh, the team I posted was taken from the E&S best guess - yours is by far a stronger line up  Thumb up

Difficult one really...

Given our injury crisis, I can understand why Moore wouldn't want to risk Barry, as he's been head and shoulders above the rest in some recent games, particularly Norwich at home.

The counter argument to that is our midfield looks very weak without him and I'm concerned of us getting seriously turned over, even if Brighton do play a second string side.

I'd be inclined not to risk Holgate as well, as it's imperative we attack better from full back without Barnes and Phillips. The fact Moore might risk him (if the E&S team is correct) shows how little he thinks of Mears. Have to wonder why we put some of these players on the wage bill really.

This game shows how important it is that we get some reinforcements into the club ASAP.

I would have liked to have seen Hoolahan in this mix. Isn't Hegazi crocked?

Albion - Bond; Mears, Tosin, Bartley, Townsend; Leko, Harper, Field, Edwards; Hoolahan; Robson-Kanu

Brighton - Button; Bruno, Duffy, Burn, Montoya; Stephens; Knockaert, Kayal, Bissouma, Locadia; Andone

Hope all their forwards are hungover and blindfolded.
