I’m on the train home from the Wigan. Much has already been said but I would just say that it was on of the most disgraceful performances I’ve ever seen from an Albion team. I’m sorry Josh but I don’t believe it’s a question of systems, it’s a question of personnel. Take out Barnes, Gayle and Rodriguez and we are not even average. The central defenders lack the skill and positional awareness for the game they are being asked to play, they are technically unable to do it. The central midfield was non existent; I’ve always loved Brunty but he needs to be dropped, whilst Livermore was crap. They created absolutely nothing, they could have played all night and the outcome would have been the same. My anger is that we won’t learn; on Wednesday, Livermore is now unavailable (no loss at all) but we all know he’ll be replaced by that pacey, creative player Barry. The substitutions today we’re a joke: take off the most dangerous striker in the division and replace him with Kanu but leave on Brunt and Livermore.
I love BD the man but BD the manager is clueless; he has no tactical nous and persists with players who are continually underperforming. Wigan thoroughly deserved their win because they rumbled us very early; high press, give us no time and you’ll get the ball. Today was wretched; we are two very unhappy Baggies on our way home to the Scottish Borders

Well we win more games than we lose, score more goals than we conce,ed, 3rd in the league, so I'm happy. Though the manager's use of players are a bit worrying as above are saying.
However if we continue as we are we will be in the play-offs.
Derby next will give me a better idea if we will or not.

We might be third, but to repeat, we've won games in spite of Moore's team selections and tactics, not because of them.
Reactive management, illogical substitutions, clear favourites (mainly those players who are oldest or happen to have been around the longest), unable to recognise or make attempts to deal with our weaknesses (central midfield, as was clear before the season even started).
Not impressed at all.
Without being consistently bailed out by Gayle and Barnes (worryingly both of whom are on loan), we'd be languishing in the bottom half.
Plus we we told Phillips and Sako were fit to play this week yet nowhere to be seen?
It seems the same as when pulis was in charge fearing these issues
Somethings not sitting right with me!
Dave why do we persist to play this way away from home with two midfielders who are next to useless, don't hang yourself out to dry
Good result for Dean Smith today
I mean we are looking for a goal,
So how many would have brought HRK on for Gayle?
Now tell me Big D knows what he's doing DM continues to make basic errors, apart from his normal stupid team selection, together with 3412 away from home? we don't have keep proving we can't play that formation away. WE KNOW - Can someone tell DM please.
The substitutes was amazing - we had 4 players on yellow cards and he what does he do? leaves them on??? and brings off the players most likely to score who weren't on yellows. Then we go down to 10 men, that's exactly what we deserved.
Darren is digging a hole for himself - either he changes things and gets the basics right or else. I really like Darren, but it's results that count. He is beginning to look like a lovable fool.

We haven’t even got to change our first choice personnel when Phillips is back for Mears. Our usual 11 can easily switch between 3412 at home and 4411 away.
Johnstone
Dawson - Hegazi - Bartley
Phillips - Livermore - Brunt - Gibbs
Barnes
Gayle - Rodriguez

I like that line-up and formation, Josh.
Is Big Dave becoming the Theresa May of the Championship? Not listening, not learning, could do far better if he listened and learned. Can’t believe we let teams dominate us so much. For xxxx’s sake, Dave, make the change. I can see Derby beating us now. Our dip in form is coinciding with their peak in form.

I think tonight is Big Dave’s biggest test yet with regards to personnel and formation. Derby play 4231 so I’ll be worried if Darren sticks to 3412. I think tonight calls for our own 4231 with Barnes and Edwards outwide and Hoolahan behind Gayle. Field replacing Livermore in midfield. If that wouldn’t work then Hoolahan could drop deeper alongside Field with Brunt/Barry (whoever starts) as the holding player in a 4141.
What I expect is the usual 3412, Barry replacing Livermore (leading to us being overrun by Mount and Bryson) and Tosin replacing Dawson (if he can’t play).

Good call Josh, it would be great if DM plays that team, however, i expect Mears to play, Phillips to not be "quite ready", despite the media stating he is fit, Brunt and Barry to slow the pace of Midfield, no interlink play from Defence to Midfield........however, saying that it wouldn't surprise me if we went 3 up again after 30 mins.........

I agree, if he replaces Livermore with Barry and retains Brunt, their midfield will murder us. That would be my only concern with Hoolahan- he’s older than Brunt. However, his approach is much more front foot and attacking. Let’s see what we get

Well, that's a bit more hopeful, I'd say. As you say, Josh, the formation is the key thing now.
Off out for a meeting - should be back in time to chew my fingernails through a nervy final quarter.

Some odd changes - the bench 5 attacking players ?
No Barry, Hegazi, Townsend, - is Mears a preference over these ?
Baffling to me ?
