Unfortunately extremism on one side nowadays attracts opposition from the extremism on the other side!! While I cannot stand Trump, if the Democrats over here want to defeat him they must do it with dignity, some humour and by envigorating the voters to get out and beat him at the ballot box!! Nothing would hurt Trump’s ego more than him being soundly beaten in an election! American politics desperately needs some moderate Democrats and Republicans to make concerted efforts to run for office, there are far too many from the loony left and religious right who are dictating the news cycle every day.

Trump wants to polarise opinion. The middle don't march much and if they put out normal sensible statements all over social media ........ who does that bring in but the odd pleasant mum and a dad who who is too clever for his pay-grade who knows no-one will ever notice?
There are deplorables on both sides of the aisle. There was an extreme minority of people marching amongst the majority against Trump and then the following day there was a pro-Trump rally where some were arrested.
In the US there have been some weird members of the anti-Trump protesters but then when Obama was President, he had protesters against him marching with effigies of Obama being hung and racist signs. Now we wouldn’t say that those anti-Obama marchers are the true representation of Trump supporters and the Anti-Trump protesters are not a true representation of Democrats, Liberals and Socialists. Actions of the minority unfortunately damage the reputation of the majority.
To be honest it's not the people without power we should be asking questions about.
When you don't have the power to change anything and you think the world is going to hell in a hand cart, all kinds of bizarre reactions and statements can and do seem the way to go. When you have power and could change the whole world and act and speak very much like those same disenfranchised people, merely to inflame them when you intend to change nothing, THEN it's time to ask what the ****? |
