Wolves AND Villa going up, and us going down....painful.

I’m sure we’ll find something to disagree on soon.  Tongue

Anyway, a Villa win won’t sit right with me. Not because it’s the Villa but because the team that finishes 3rd (Fulham) should really be promoted automatically instead of having to play in a play-off. In my opinion the play-offs shouldn’t happen.

Josh, I do agree with you the beat three teams over the course of the season should go up .....
The team that wins the play-offs earns more money than the champions, the team that wins the play-offs gets a trophy and winners medals the team that finished second doesn't ........... it does prolong the season and the interest of another six to eight sometimes more teams but is it fair ......... not really

Everyone knows the rules at the start of the season and if I remember correctly we have both benefited and lost out to the play-offs, we lost twice to Port Vale finished fourth but beat them 3 - 0 at Wembley, we finished above Derby but lost 1 - 0 ...... great joy to be had from winning great despair from losing .... hoping villa lose and the defeat causes them to have another S£@#e start and season next year ......

Josh on checking my facts I was wrong, firstly it was 2006/7 and secondly we finished 4th eight points behind Derby. So justice was done, the top three went up, Derby became the worst premier league team in history, 11 points, made me feel better. So really we have only benefited from the play-off system. Having lost to Derby we were champions the following year

To be honest the play-offs will never be removed but changes should definitely be made to it. Rather than have 3rd to 6th they should make it a one off match at Wembley between the teams who finished 3rd and 4th. That will make things more fairer because I hate it when a team who finished in 5th or 6th wins the play-offs. It never sits right with me.

At least our system is better than some countries. In Germany for example the team finishes 3rd in the second division plays the team that finishes in 16th in the Bundesliga in a two legged match with the away goal rule. Unfortunately because of the ever increasing gap between both leagues, the Bundesliga team usually wins and keeps their place in the Bundesliga. The last second division team to win the play off was Fortuna Düsseldorf in the 2011/2012 season.

The only fair way is the traditional three up three down but no money in that for the tv men ..... I am surprised that after the season has finished its not 3rd down to 10th ....... two groups of four, followed by two two legged semi finals then a final .... once all that's completed the FA pick which team they want anyway ...... Whistle Whistle Whistle

Three up and three down is definitely the only way to keep things fair in football but as we know money now comes first in football.

You won’t like the Belgian system. It’s beyond ridiculous and too complicated to explain on here. If you’re interested have a read here - https://thepathslesstravelled.wordpress....ex-system/
