He thinks we only got relegated to Lge 2. Home game against Blackpool?

Martin Allen wouldn't have been on my list ......... but I thought Jack Lester, even though he was being given a pretty awful job, would at least produce a few green shoots of potential recovery. Can't see them. Being right about Caldwell being a disaster waiting to happen, doesn't mean I'm likely to get it right regarding Martin Allen. He clearly has the ability even to get us back into the EFL, but he might also walk out on us before the season starts citing irreconcilable differences.

I must say when he returned to Barnet too late for the transfer window I thought it was one of the smartest moves I'd seen when he immediately pruned his squad and said to the 20 remaining, "you're the ones I want to fight for me." If he stays and draws his players together in that way and the FA only deduct say six points he might create sufficient spirit for us to have a chance. But there are a lot of ifs.

Didn't waste any time telling some of the deadwood to look elsewhere. The retained list isn't quite what I expected but then I'm not a football manager.
Not my first choice by a long chalk but am fed of hearing "He talks well" so will see what happens over the next couple of months. I like his character and do wonder if Dave Allen realizes exactly what he has done by giving him the job. He's got my backing just for putting COG on the garbage pile.

Incidentally I see Dan - Money Grabbing - Jarvis failed in his bid to be the first Sheffield City Region mayor. The Greens won it with a Somali candidate (What were the chances of that in South Yorkshire?). Blue will be distraught.

Apologies for the above. My excuse is I have been away. Its Sheffield Mayor that he's been appointed not Sheffield City Region. Jarvis got it after all.

I have nothing against the Somalian being elected as long as he/she can speak English and respects English laws and western culture .It must have been a very low turnout, maybe the immigrant vote won it .
As for the Press Conference ,how cringeful was that ? .What with Dave Allen spouting his very un PC bile ,I'm against Political correctness and have no problem with calling a spade a spade /shovel,but he is rude and disrespectful. Then you have Martin Allen making one gaffe after another ,calling DA the chairman and stating he attended the recent game against BLACKPOOL .
Having said all that what I have learned over recent years is that there is absolutely no correlation between how a manager conducts himself in interviews and how the team performs on the pitch .Nicky Law and Shez weren't very articulate in interviews but their football brains were pretty good whereas Gary Caldwell talked a great job but his team was awful. I certainly won't be judging MA on his interviews.

Trees are the main issue in Sheffield. Labour deserves everything it gets, or doesn't get in this case.

There are a lot of Somalis and Yemenis in Sheffield. Pity they don't tend to be great footballers. I know a club which might .............

Strange that to be mayor a Somali has to be able to speak English and yet to be a football manager you can communicate in a series of guttural grunts and curses like Nicky Law and Sheridan or have very little English at all like many of the candidates for top Premiership jobs and be regarded as desirable.

And why is the real no-no in Premiership management terms speaking like Paul Cook, Neil Warnock and Steve Evans? No English, a glamorous name and a long mac is better for the brand than white, middle-aged, unpleasant and knows the game inside out ..............? That it?

I like the look of the new Mayor of Sheffield, its about time we got younger, more energetic people in these sort of positions!! Doubt there is any problem with his English as he has been living in Sheffield since he was 5 years old. Good luck to him, he will need it dealing with the Labour party in Sheffield!!!

If he has been in Sheffield since he was 5 there HAS TO BE a problem with his English.

Since the days when Sheffield had a brilliant public transport system that took you miles for a shilling and Labour took masses of flak and was condemned as the Socialist Republic of South Yorkshire, it has become increasingly unable to do anything right. Like Chesterfield FC it seizes any opportunity to appear dysfunctional.
